Black Bean Salad with Avocado Lime Dressing

This recipe is from our current GET MOVING class.  That’s right…the class is about exercise but it also includes tips for meals, menu options etc.  Everything is connected to everything here at Marilu.com and we love to help you make those connections so that your lifestyle can be about TOTAL health.  Thank you to Kecia for this recipe.

1 ripe avocado

¼ c fresh cilantro

2 T lime juice

2 cans of organic black beans

4 c. shredded romaine lettuce

1 c grape tomatoes

1 c organic corn kernel – thawed if frozen

1 small red bell pepper

½ c toasted pumpkin seeds


In a large bowl, whisk together avocado, cilantro & lime juice until blended. Add remaining ingredients and toss until evenly coated.

SPA ON A BUDGET

Here’s one of Marilu’s great SPA ON A BUDGET tips that’s going to especially helpful now that the weather is warm and many of us are spending more time in the sun.


 


“While we’re cleaning out our make up drawers, help your makeup go a lot further.  Foundation bottles are often shaped in such a way to make you have to buy a lot more, a lot sooner.  If you add some moisturizer with sunscreen to your foundation, you’ll end up with a tinted moisturizer.  It’s really nice on a light day, or if you’re going to work out and want a little makeup to even out your skin tones. ”

This Mama Bear had the right idea when she brought her cubs to back yard play area for some fun time.  It’s the weekend….get out there and enjoy some play time yourself.  When you were a kid you didn’t call it exercise….you called it FUN!  Have some fun yourself, go hiking, boating, walk around your neighborhood or play tag with the kids.  Healthy activity doesn’t have to take place on a weight bench…just GET MOVING.

SPA ON A BUDGET

Today’s tip is about good health from the inside out:  HYDRATE !!!


 


Keep a water glass with you at all times.  Set up a water bar with fresh fruit and veggies if that helps you drink more.  And commit to making water your only beverage for an allotted time.  A week?  Two weeks?  See what you can do and then see what it does for you.


 


It will make a huge difference in your digestion, your energy, your skin.  Try it and let us know how it works for you.
