Copyright infringement...it's not just for books anymore!
I was alerted to this debacle by NAPP (National Association of Photoshop Professionals), of which I've been a member for many years. Dana Dawes in Atlanta set up a photographer blog a few days ago and somehow got herself a deal with Groupon. Groupon is a site that offers daily local deals at a nice discount, and they handle the payment processing. What Groupon didn't know was that this "photographer" downloaded a bunch of images from various other websites and was passing the work off as hers...

Fresh Blood - JCP News #33

Guess who's joining the Petit Morts team?
Welcome me back from Vegas :D
PawSense really works! And it's funny!
The Starving Years takes a steamier not-worksafe turn (and it is KILLING me to wait for votes so I can write the next part.)
Read all about it here!

Packing Heat 120: Owning Creativity
Packing Heat is a podcast I've been putting out since 2007. My goal is to help other writers stay motivated, and to encourage them to take their writing to the next level. You don't need special gadgets to listen; Packing Heat plays in your browser, like YouTube. Or you can subscribe (and leave me glowing feedback) at iTunes!
Is Fun Overrated? I’m back from Photoshop World! I recorded a podcast there, however it’s probably for the best that I’ve lost the files. I sounded a bit tweaked at the t...

Three Shorts - Two Bucks
Get Your Shorts in a Bunch!
It's no fun to get your panties in a twist, but at JCP Books, you'll WANT to get your shorts in a bunch!

Three Shorts - Two Bucks
If you like my series but haven't gotten around to trying my standalones, here's your opportunity. I've bundled Verdant, The Voice and Betweentimes (three hot little shorts) and priced them at a mere $2.00!
If you're a JCP fan, be sure to Facebook-like, blog, or tell your friends about this...

A guy for Chris
I'll have too much JCP Books work to catch up on to post a photo essay anytime soon, but I can't resist posting one pic. Chris suggested that I might meet an EC cover model at Photoshop World (since they're so Photoshoppable with their fake tattoos, wigs, masks, interchangeable heads, etc.) but I did run into this ubiquitous m/m cover model at Mandalay Bay! (No, not the guy playing the slots. The guy on the side with the "tattoo", ha ha!)

UnapPEELing
Has anyone ever had a problem with the cover of PsyCop: Property or Camp Hell peeling? I've read some complaints about that printer today in regards to another publisher's books, but I always thought my books looked good. I'm trying to figure out where I want to print Zero Hour.

In All Fairness
Since I travel so rarely, I've found that when I do, the change in perspective lends itself to me having epiphanies of some kind. I had hoped I'd have an epiphany more on the fun side this time around, but I'm coming to realize that I have an overdeveloped sense of fairness, and that I let it really ruin my day.
When I checked into my first motel, which I had already paid for, suddenly a “resort fee” of nearly $50 was required of me at checkin. (Unfair! Unfair! Bait and switch!) This...

You too can play with Vic
[image error]
PsyCop reader Renee made a Victor Bayne character in the Sims3 exchange! Sad to say, I never progressed past Sims1, which I thoroughly enjoyed, probably too much. I figured if I got newer Sims I could kiss my productivity goodbye.
Even if you're not a Sims player, it's funny to go read the traits and see Vic modeling his swimwear and formalwear. Go have a look!

It's WAY more fun up here!
My "move" is complete. Since room rates are ridiculously high on Saturday, I decided I wasn't willing to pay $150 for a single night at Excalibur, and once Photoshop World was over, I'd move. The move is done, and OMG. I adore my new room! It's just nicer in every way. Prettier, quieter, better furniture, classier, with a fridge and a coffee maker and a desk and a smooshier bed. But the best part is that it's not in a tourist trap, it's in an actual neighborhood. So even though I was burned o...

Other Peoples' Jobs
I went to a food photography photoshoot last night and it blew me away. As I was soaring on cloud 9 and feeling my brain fill to bursting with epiphanies, I did find it a bit odd that the course I attended in which would never personally use any of the technical instruction was the one that was putting all kinds of new, good wrinkles in my brain.
Part of it is that other people's jobs fascinate me.
That must be why field trips like the taxidermy studio and the cheese factory get me so jazzed. I...
