AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Martha Rogers (& Book Giveaway!)

I'm delighted to welcome author Martha Rogers to WordVessel. Martha, how did you come to be a writer? Not really sure as I've been making up stories since my childhood. I guess I began writing them down sometime in elementary school.

How long have you been writing and when was your first book published? I've been writing as long as I can remember. My first book was in a novella, Sugar and Grits.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I read a lot and spend time with the grandkids.

How Do I Know God's Will?

The Christian walk can sometimes be confusing. How do we know God's will for our lives? How can we best live in a way that pleases Him? How can we make sure we're following His voice plan and not our own?

I can't specifically tell you what God's will is for your life, but I hope over the next several weeks to take a Biblical look at God's will, His plans and purposes, the benefits of living a God-pleasing life, and hearing and following God's voice.

This study came from my desire to underst...

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Lynette Eason

I'm pleased to welcome author Lynette Eason to WordVessel today.

How long have you been writing and when was your first book published? I had been writing for a little over eight years when I got THE CALL that Steeple Hill wanted to publish my first book. That was in January 2007. The book came out in 2008. Since then I've sold fourteen more books. It's been an incredibly busy three years, but has been an amazing journey.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time? I like to travel, hang ou...

My Texas Roads Trip

Last week Hubby and I took a TEXAS ROADS trip. I had great intentions of stopping in every small town on our trip to find vendors and libraries for my book, TEXAS ROADS. I also wanted to take new author photos and shoot future book covers.

I managed to meet most of my goals, with a new author photo and possible photos for future book covers, but I only stopped at one library, and I gave a book to a town's fund-raising drive as a donation. As it turns out, we had to do a lot of driving to fi...

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Francine Rivers

I'm delighted to post this interview with my all-time favorite Christian author, Francine Rivers. Here's her bio:

Francine Rivers began her literary career at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in English and journalism. From 1976 to 1985, she had a successful writing career in the general market, and her books were highly acclaimed by readers and reviewers. Although raised in a religious home, Francine did not truly encounter Christ until...

BOOK REVIEWS & AUTHOR INTERVIEW: "Magna" and "Making Waves" by Nicole O'Dell (& Book Giveaway!)

Though Young Adult fiction isn't my usual read, I'm so glad I took the time to review these books by author Nicole O'Dell. Part of the Scenarios series (Interactive Fiction for Girls), Magna (Book 3) and Making Waves (Book 4) are just the sort of books I would want my pre-teen or teen daughter to read (if I had one)!

The books are designed with two endings, so that the reader chooses the outcome of the story by making life-altering decisions for the story's main character.

In Magna, the ma...

Once For All

(Originally posted November 16, 2008.)

The dew-kissed grass twinkles in the morning sunlight, each blade bearing a brilliant diamond-like drop. The morning is cool and fresh, and the birds sing out songs of praise to the Creator for the beauty of this new day. My heart joins the song.

I check the flowers in my garden. My plantings have been carefully planned so I will have year-round blooms to enjoy.

The chrysanthemums are delighted by the cool fall weather, and show their appreciation wi...
