AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Karen Witemeyer (& Book Giveaway!)

WordVessel is delighted to welcome author Karen Witemeyer! Here's a little more about her:

Karen Witemeyer is a deacon's wife who believes the world needs more happily-ever-afters. To that end, she combines her love of bygone eras with her passion for helping women mature in Christ to craft historical romance novels that lift the spirit and nurture the soul.

Karen holds a master's degree in Psychology from Abilene Christian University and is a member of ACFW, RWA, and her local writers...

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Stephen Bly (& Book Giveaway!)

I'm delighted to once again welcome author Stephen Bly to WordVessel. Welcome, Stephen! What's a question you often get asked about yourself?

I often get asked where I grew up. Folks suppose I was born and raised in some rough and tumble part of the west, amid gunfights and wild adventures. Well, they're right. Home for me was a ranch north of Visalia, California, in the great San Joaquin Valley.

"Central California?" you might say. "That doesn't sound like the wildest part of the...

Living a God-Pleasing Life

Probably no Christ-follower alive would say they don't want to live a God-pleasing life. But as is usually the case, saying and doing are two different things. We may think and say we want to please Him, but self gets in the way, and we all end up living in ways that are contrary to God.

During our recent study of knowing and doing God's will, I came across several references on living a God-pleasing life, and thought I'd share them with you here.

Not Just A Suggestion

Finally, brothers...

BLOG AWARD

Thanks so much to Anne at Suspense by Anne for giving me the Creative Liar Writer blog award!

Here are the rules: I tell either six truths and one lie, or six lies and one truth about myself, and you get to figure out which and leave a fun or silly comment. Can you guess which ones are lies?

Others...

The Hideous "M" Word

Today's post is brought to you by the letter M as we discuss a word that has taken on an ugly connotation--marketing.

Why do we cringe when we hear the word "marketing?" Probably because we've all seen it done badly (and been unconsciously guilty of bad marketing ourselves).

I'm here to assert my objection to the negative response to marketing. Throughout history, people have had to market their wares. Selling books is no different.

In fact, Proverbs 31:24 praises the woman who makes items...

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Gail Sattler

Please help me welcome author Gail Sattler to WordVessel. Gail, tell us about yourself.

In how many words? Oops, I think I answered a question with a question, except you never really asked a question. I don't want this to sound like the same author bio that's been circulated before, so I'll say the bottom line here. I'm a married white female living in Canada who writes novels. I love writing, my husband, my children, my dogs, my lizard, and my bass guitar, not necessarily in that order.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Deb Kinnard (& Book Giveaway!)

It's my pleasure to welcome author Deb Kinnard to WordVessel. Here's her bio:

Deb Kinnard started writing at age ten, because there was no preteen girl with a horse on Bonanza. From there she progressed to short stories and dreadful poetry. In college, she gained two degrees in health care and spent time observing hippies, basketball stars, el-ed majors and other strange species. While raising two active girls and cherishing her husband, she's enjoyed a career that encompasses Spanish transla...

Teen Author Nicole O'Dell Launches Teen Talk Radio

I I'm delighted to help author Nicole O'Dell promote her new teen talk radio program. Many of you will remember Nicole from an interview/book review I did a few months ago. If not, you can catch the post here. I was very impressed with Nicole's Scenarios series, where teens choose the ending to the story based upon a choice they make with the story's main character. Here's the info about the radio show.

With a focus on what teens are talking about, Nicole O'Dell launches Teen Talk Radio, wher...
