MONDAY MEDITATION: Need ______? Ask God.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." ~Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

"You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures." ~James 4:2b-3 (NIV)

"...your Father knows what you need before you ask Him." ~Matthew 6:8 (NIV)

We are needy people. In fact, we're so needy we often have trouble verbalizin...

Winners & Updates

Hi everyone! Hope this finds you all doing well and anticipating a relaxing weekend.

Don't you just love the slower pace of summer? Oddly enough, I'm up by about 6 a.m. every morning so I can get my walk and bike ride in before it heats up too much. The sun is still snoozing below the horizon, the birds are trying to sing him awake, and the sound of motorists hasn't yet reached its noisy din. Absolutely my most favorite time of the day!! =)

It's been a great week in the writing arena. I've ...

GUEST BLOGGER: Marlayne Giron - Questions To Ask When You Are Self-Publishing

So many self-publishing houses; so many empty promises...

In the past year since my own self-published book, The Victor, was released, I have met many authors who have gone the self-publishing route and have learned many important things that they should have given thought to but didn't even know to ask and are now kind of "stuck" after having spent A LOT of money. There are good companies to self-publish with and some horrible ones, so "buyer beware"!  There are quite a few important things...

MEDITATION MONDAY: Immanuel

"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us." ~Matthew 1:23 (NIV)

I know this seems like an odd verse choice for summer, but the Lord has really impressed this thought on my mind over the past several days.

Who? God.

What? Is with us.

When? Every moment of every day.

Where? Everywhere. There's no place we can go where He is not.

How? Through His Spirit who indwells believers.

Why? Because He loves us.

This is...

Character Traits: Extrovert vs. Introvert

Each of the characters in the stories we write have various character traits that make them unique. In the CHARACTER TRAITS series on WordVessel, we'll be discussing these traits to better understand our characters.

Let's start with something common: extroverts and introverts. Everyone of us is one or the other. Most people think of extroverts as outgoing and friendly and introverts as shy. While this may be true, these are not true definitions of extroverts and introverts. Extroverts are pe...

AUTHOR INTERVIEW: Jamie Carie (& Book Giveaway!)

Please join me in welcoming author Jamie Carie! Here's her bio:

Born and raised in Vincennes, Indiana, Jamie is a preacher's daughter. Road trips with her dad—to and from Bible studies across Indiana—were filled with talks of things beyond earth's bounds - creation and the fall, God and Jesus and the rapture, the earthly walk compared to the spiritual walk, and how we are born for more than what we can see or touch.

The highlight of those nights was stopping at a truck stop in the middle of...
