the first three years
my intention was to do a decade look back.
i don't usually do this type of retrospective post,
but so much has happened for me between 2000-2009,
i thought it would be a fun endeavor.
i began collecting fotos and realized that it will
have to be divided into two posts, at least!
in 2000, i was just finishing my masters program
at new york university. i would graduate in may
and return to san diego by the summer. what was
revolutionary for me was the purchase of my first
digital camera. i don't...

tgifbm!
*today, as the bubs helped their daddy search
for "treasures" with his metal detector. 8)
i've been tweet-bragging about our sunshine
and high 70's temps and getting grouchy and
threatening replies from all over. =p what can
i say, i'm a southern cali girl through and through.
i'll gladly trade "seasons" for constantly temperate
weather. and proximity to the beach. i don't like
swimming in the ocean at all, but i love to gaze at
it. it's both soothing and inspiring.
last night we went to...

how could it possibly be 2010?
i was watching the season 2 finale of The
Tudors last night, and feeling really very
anxious about it all. anne boleyn was beheaded
and altho i've read about this multiple times, it's
quite another thing to see it acted out. there's
something to be said about visuals. she was
executed in 1536 and the 500th anniversary
date will be in 2036. i fumbled with the math
in my mind and figured i'll be 63 that year.
it's rather unsettling to calculate
my life years (away) like that.
as i said, we made ...

cindy's 2009 reads and top five list!
happy 2010! i'm back from england!
it's so good to be home safe. holiday fotos
will follow soon! for the past three years,
i've shared my reading list as well as my
top five books on my blog. this year is different,
as i'm beginning to read books that are written by
authors i know, some even friends to me! the list
is most definitely predominantly young adult, more
so than all previous years.
so without further ado, these are my top five
favorite reads of 2009!
1. THE KING OF ATTOLIA by megan ...
stupid cupid by rhonda stapleton
i can't believe this is my final debs 09
blog tour post!! ringing in the new year
with rhonda and her debut, Stupid Cupid!

learns that she isn't just a matchmaker…she's a cupid!
(There's more than one of them, you know.)
Armed with a hot pink, tricked-out PDA infused with

london calling
Cobbled Streets and gray skies
The smell of roasted chestnuts
Rubbing my mittened hands for warmth
as it pours from the café and shop windows
like sunshine on a summer day
But London is muted, dark too soon
beneath dense clouds
The Christmas decorations shimmer bright
colors: reds, golds and brilliant greens
Silver tinsel glitter like iced stars
I want a hot scone slathered in triple-clotted
cream and strawberry jam

silver phoenix indonesian cover
i'm very excited to share the indonesia
cover to Silver Phoenix! the publisher let me
know that my book went on sale last week
abroad! so exciting!
do you love the cover?
i think it's gorgeous in a mysterious
quiet way. i was shown the cover before
the books went into print and i only had
two comments. one was suggesting the
chinese characters (they had stand ins
that actually said "chinese word",
now it says "silver phoenix")
and the fact that ai ling didn't wear a single
braid–as she does throughout ...
a very full saturday
i had two events this past saturday.
the first was with the rolling readers at
the women's head to toe expo at del mar
fairgrounds. when i originally signed up for
it, i thought it was a reading event. apparently,
it was the first time they decided to try and
do this book/author component with the expo,
and i suspected it might not have worked too well.
the moms that went most definitely left
their tween/teens behind. the kids that were
there were preschooler age. so i wound up not
doing a...

about a lily
i had a fabulous time with my
brush artist friends on tuesday night.
ate great food, then proceeded to paint.
our teacher had been encouraging us
to paint rocks (which can also turn into
mountains for landscape paintings) and
i finally tackled the subject.
the hardest component in this painting
for me was the rock. it's definitely more
challenging as i love painting flowers
and using color. rocks, when done wrong,
turn into lumps of dough. i think what is
so essential about g...
