Cindy Pon's Blog, page 15

leafing through the pages…

a stack of books.

dogeared pages.

nose in a book.

creased spine.

the well worn pages of a treasured favorite.

the smell of a new book.

to judge a book by its cover.

to curl up with a book.

to flip the page.

yesterday morning, on a whim, i decided to do

an impromptu twitter and facebook poll asking :

with all the talk about ebooks, are YOU willing to

read ALL books/novels solely on an ereader?

yes or no?

unofficially (as in don't trust me to do the
counting at the presidential election =), we
had a total o...

tgifbm! Bleeding Violet & Brightly Woven!

you WANT these two debut novels. trust me.

they are both wonderful and very different

fantasy novels.

bleedingviolet

Love can be a dangerous thing….

Hanna simply wants to be loved. With a head plagued by hallucinations, a medicine cabinet full of pills, and a closet stuffed with frilly, violet dresses, Hanna's tired of being the outcast, the weird girl, the freak. So she runs away to Portero, Texas in search of a new home.

But Portero is a stranger town than Hanna expects. As she tries to make a place for...

how do you know?

i'm in between revisions again and more

than a little obsessed with Fury of the Phoenix.

it's a fantastic all-consuming a little maddening

feeling. i write in my head constantly, am thinking

of plot and scene and dialogue and character.

and god knows what's getting lost sometimes

due to The Hole in My Head. but i think i retain most

of it, and forget other mundane things in life like

laundry, brushing sweet pea's hair, making dinner

and other negligible things such as those. =) ha!

i had a...

the space between

i'm a little lost and useless. i need to give

myself mindless tasks to keep sane. =)

this is how it is between revisions. on sunday,

i was able to attend harperteen's Supernatural

Summer tour and four fellow YA authors there.

mysterious galaxy events are always so much fun!

supernatural1

*kimberly derting, me, kelley armstrong,

ellen schreiber, and kim harrison.

supernatural2

*the turn out was fantastic! people waited a few

hours to get their books signed.

supernatural3

*i've met kimberly before and it was a real pleasure
to meet the...

tgifbm! A Conspiracy of Kings & mwt interview!

ACoK

other than le guin's earthsea series, this is one

of my favorites. A Conspiracy of Kings is a New York Times

Bestseller AND was also chosen by American Library Association's

Booklist as one of the Top Ten Fantasy/Science Fiction Novels for

Youth in 2010! i'm delighted to offer a signed copy for tgifbm!

i also have an impromptu interview with megan whalen

turner. these were questions i had posed to the authors

of the summer reading panel at mysterious galaxy a few

weeks back.

if you could live...

catch up!

okay. somebody spank me.

i've been so bad about blogging. but

you know why! Fury of the Phoenix sequel

revisions has turned me into a hoof stomping

revisions cave troll! i sent in round two to my

fantabulous editor. we're getting closer, but

i know there's still a lot of work to be done

before we send it out into the world.

i don't know what to do with myself now
that i'm waiting on my editor's comments.
any writer knows what it's like to be obsessively
immersed in the world and then to be...

before i leap…

i had a great chat with my editor

last friday as i head into more revisions.

i'm nervous. augh. but i want to make

the sequel better. for me. for you. for

my editor. but mostly for me. okay, most

of all for my characters and the story. =)

i reserved rooms for the sirens conference
in colorado in october today. i'm hoping to be on
a panel about world fey. the guests of honor
this year are holly black, marie brennan, and
terri windling. sirens is a conference that focuses
on women in the fantasy...
