find megan quite by accident when i arrived on
friday in costume.
we immediately went to the harpercollins booth
together! i'm supposed to be a "pirate queen". i'd
be a pirate wench if i were more curvaceous. haha!
and let me just say straight up that corsets are...

fighting the gloom
it feels like monday.
and the weather has been overcast
for three days. which makes me feel
all bleah and lethargic.
i'm taking solace in my Fury edits.
will be reading the prose aloud. i highly
recommend this to writers. it allows you
to hear things (redundancies, stilted dialogue,
awkward prose) that you normally wouldn't
notice while simply reading.
i'm also having instant ramen for lunch
with an egg! my ideal comfort food. and finally,
what better way to combat the gloom than with
some jay...

tgifbm! feel the love, baby!
like everyone else, i have a pretty busy
weekend filled with secret project, meeting
with wonderful writerly peeps like martha flynn,
reading by the beach and hanging out with family.
i have had so many readers let me know how much
they love Silver Phoenix and looking forward to
Fury. i'm touched and a little overwhelmed. (or a lot. =)
so i wanted to do a special tgifbm! this week.
it's more like an extravaganza. SEVEN awesome
books–each i have loved reading and recommending,
ALL featuring...

fury cover and thursday links
there's been a lot of discussion about
the Fury cover, and opinions do differ.
i think it just goes to show how challenging it
can be when creating book covers. i feel very
fortunate to have two gorgeous ones! for those
who worry that Fury may be construed as non-asian,
i do think the knife gives the hint. also, the jacket
will have asian details and of course, the blurb will
definitely clue the reader in that the novel is chinese
inspired fantasy.
and i'm happy to say there will be chapter...

fury of the phoenix cover revealed!
i'm very excited to finally share the cover
for Fury of the Phoenix, my sequel to Silver Phoenix!
wait cindy, you say, this looks different from your
debut cover. a lot different.
i know. i know!
both the Silver Phoenix paperback
(out on feb. 1, 2011) and Fury of the Phoenix
(out april 2011) have been repackaged. it's
something that isn't at all uncommon. it's a way to
reach a different and (we hope) wider audience.
i feel so blessed to have gotten the original cover
so wonderfully created by...

rock paper tiger!
a few weekends ago, i was very happy to attend
my friend, lisa's, signing at Mysterious Galaxy
for her debut, Rock Paper Tiger.
it's gotten great press and critical reviews!
American Iraq War veteran Ellie Cooper is down and out
in Beijing when a chance encounter with a Uighur—a member
of a Chinese Muslim minority—at the home of her sort-of
boyfriend Lao Zhang turns her life upside down. Lao Zhang
disappears, and suddenly multiple security organizations are
hounding her for information. They say...
