Upcoming Events--and Some Old Ones
I've been a bit overwhelmed by 2018 thus far, I admit, and sadly, this blog has been one of the things I've neglected, so here it is: what I've been doing and what I am going to be doing:On February 10, along with Lynn Brunelle, Carol Cassella, Bridget Foley, Warren Read, and Susan Wiggs, I participated in an event celebrating love and Valentine's Day, hosted by Bainbridge Artisan Resource Network (BARN). We were all given the first line of "It was love at first sight," and commissioned to write a short piece to read aloud at this gathering, which also included wine and chocolate. Want to check out the piece I read? Here it is, for your delectation. Here's a picture from the event, with me, Susan Wiggs, Suzanne Selfors, and Lynn Brunelle. (That's Carol in the red, with her back to the camera)
Next up, I'll be celebrating the release of Kristin Hannah's new novel, The Great Alone, at The Loft, in Poulsbo, WA., at a signing event hosted by Liberty Bay Books. I'll be interviewing Kristin about all things Kristin at the event, which should be ... interesting!March 13th, I'll be at the Den at Chop Suey, in Seattle WA., for the fifth anniversary of Lit Fix, reading with other authors while we drink and listen to a band. Five dollars at the door supports Team Read. As drinking and reading are two of my favorite things, I'm really looking forward to this.Okay, 2018, I'm catching up, slowly but surely. :)

A Drop of Ink on sale
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. Now that the decorations are put away (at least at my house), it's time to settle into the new year. My very favorite things are books on sale, and so here is my New Year's gift to you: my newest release, A Drop of Ink, is included in the Kindle Literature and Fiction monthly deal until the end of January, at the low price of $1.99. I have a special affection for this book, which was a long time coming conceptually, and I hope you enjoy it too.

Happy Holidays!
I've been partying my little heart out this holiday season, and still have more to go. We'll see if I manage to make it to New Years without a hangover (unlikely). Monday, I went to our annual holiday get-together with authors I've known for many years. This year, it was at Debbie Macomber's house, which was lovely, as were her new offices.L-to-R:Katherine Stone, Me, Debbie Macomber, Christina Dodd, Kristin Hannah
It was a smaller crowd than usual this year, as so many were traveling, but there was still plenty of food--and champagne.
Last night, my family celebrated Hanukkah (the house still smells of latkes, which is not a bad thing), and I was with my critique group for our Christmas party last Saturday, and oh yes, there are more parties yet to come!If I get more pictures, I will add them. If not, have a wonderful holiday season!

Guest Blog
Today, through the rest of the month, I'm featured on the always thoughtful Janet Carey's "Creative Conversations." We talked about beginnings, and I really enjoyed the discussion, and I think we uncovered most of our secrets on how we approach beginning a novel (perhaps more than you want to know!). Check it out here: Creative Conversations.

Monthly Kindle Deals
Starting today, and running through December 31st, all three books of my young adult Fianna Trilogy are available for $1.99 as part of Amazon's Kindle Monthly Deals for Teens and Young Adults. If you like historicals, with a bit of fantasy thrown in, I think you'll enjoy these stories, where Irish myths come alive in 19th C New York City, and 17-year old Grace Knox finds herself in the center of it all.

Writing Retreat!
One of the best things about my life is my friendship and creative partnership with Kristin Hannah, which goes back (nearly) 30 years. When we met, we were both unpublished, hopeful historical romance writers, and we set to achieving our ambitions with zeal, and a love for one another that has endured highs and lows and the vagaries of publishing. At least once or twice a year, we try to take some time away, spend hours drinking and brainstorming and critiquing each other's work. We spent a few days last week on just such a retreat, and came back with a revised synopsis (Kristin), and a revised first 300 pages (me--which, yes, means throwing out most of it and starting over. It's a nasty process, but it's unfortunately mine).I try not to think about what I would do without her. Now, I'm rejuvenated and ready to move forward with a better project, so wish me luck!
