Yesterday, I took the day off to have lunch and see a movie with Kristin Hannah (her new book, The Nightingale launches Feb. 3rd--be sure to put that on your calendar. It's great historical fiction set during WWII in France).

I'll be appearing at Liberty Bay Books in Poulsbo, WA, with Kristin Hannah, on November 29th, 2015, at 3:30 p.m., for Small Business Saturday. Desk Raven

Last week, my beloved desk raven (and irritating muse), took a direct hit and broke. (seen here in one piece)

While I was not certain of my ability to fix him, I proceeded with the operation, because I love this guy.

A friend suggested I use black sharpie to make him look perfect again, but then I read an article on the Japanese art of Kintsugi, which highlights repairs with gold or silver under the philosophy that these things are part of an object's history--a testament to survival. Which seemed appropriate.

So here he is, beloved, back at his post, and scowling at me as usual, all his scars on display.

And yesterday, I threw caution to the winds and took a day off, which resulted in this lovely lunch with some of my favorite people: Kristin Hannah, Jayne Ann Krentz, and Christina Dodd.

Finally, the edit for the third book in the Fianna Trilogy, The Veil, has just hit my inbox, so you know what I'll be working on for the time being.
