Love these covers!

Photos of Mitch Albom
Your first book I read was The Time Keeper and it unexpectedly blew my mind in the most brilliant way possible. That practically led me to your other books.

So, I have read Have a Little Faith several times. I truly admire the Reb, I found myself being particularly drawn to him. As a Muslim, my heart was deeply touched when he referred to the Arabic family photos by saying “Enemy schmenemy, this was a family.”

Words can barely describe how wonderful your books are to me; they can even keep my attention all throughout the whole thing. They have literally changed my perspective on life and helped me through a lot. I am so thankful to have you, Mr Albom, in my life.

By the way, I am SO excited about your new book, The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto! Can't wait for November to come!

From the Detroit Free Press: Opening Day about tradition, change for Tigers

The manager, Brad Ausmus, trotted out to the mound, and the Tigers' fans booed. It was Opening Day, and they were witnessing a pitching masterpiece by David Price. It was one out from completion, and the last thing they wanted was to see Price lifted — especially for a closer named Joe Nathan, who, last year, was as reliable as a teenager's phone.

But Ausmus gave the sign, Price walked off, Nathan came in … and four pitches later, he had a strikeout, a save, the Tigers had a 4-0 victory, and everyone was happy.

From the Detroit Free Press: Duke again ends another incredible MSU season

INDIANAPOLIS – In the hyperdrive world of the NCAA tournament, it takes six days to go from overjoyed to overwhelmed. The Michigan State team that fanned crazy flames these last few weeks, flamed out badly in the national semifinals Saturday night. The Spartans' 81-61 loss to Duke was their worst loss of the season, as gnawing as their wins were exhilarating. Too many mistakes. Too many fouls. Too clogged of an offense. Too good of an opponent.

In case you missed the announcement, THE MAGIC STRINGS OF FRANKIE PRESTO is my new novel and it is publishing Nov. 10! I have never had more fun writing a book, and have never been more pleased with how a story has grown. This will be my longest book by far, and the most epic--it's a sort of Forest Gump-like romp through the world of music. And Frankie is the most interesting character I've ever created. If you can't wait until November, you can pre-order now (and sign up for Shelved to get exclusive sneak peeks throughout the year before it publishes-http://mitchalbom.com/d/shelved).

From the Detroit Free Press: MSU's Trice underscores value of senior status

"I don't think I would be who I am today if it weren't for going through four years of college."

— Travis Trice

Behold the senior.

He is a dinosaur. A relic. A thing of the past. Four years in college basketball today suggests a failure of sorts. You were not good enough to be snagged by the NBA.

But behold the senior who wears No. 20 for Michigan State. He is smarter. He leads. He sets an example. He has become, as even he admits, "the face that the other guys look to."

Working Homes/Working Families gave away its 23rd home last week to the Burrell Family, who tragically lost two sons in the fire in February that destroyed their previous home. Working Homes/Working Families takes abandoned houses, refurbishes them through volunteer services, and gives them to needy working families who need a decent, clean place to live, one they must keep up while continuing to work. Cities thrive through neighborhoods. Neighborhoods need decent houses and people in them. With a new home, we hope the Burrell family can begin to heal

SAY Detroit

More photos from the beautiful home that now belongs to the Burrell Family. They tragically lost two sons in the fire in February that destroyed their home. They were given the house through the Working Homes/Working Families program. Many thanks to for their beautiful work decorating. A house becomes a home for a family that can now heal.
