Hobbies: Theatre
Hello everyone,
I'm back with a little more about me! In the last blog post that talked about my hobbies, I discussed my love for reading. It's especially great when you find a coworker or friend who shares the same hobbies. This blog's hobby is going to be all about: theatre.
I have been part of the performing arts since I was a little girl (maybe, sixth grade?). Before theatre, I did ballet and tap dance. All I wanted to do was act, perform, sing, and dance. My acting resume is as follows:
Beauty & The Beast - EnsembleMulan Jr. EnsembleThe Wizard of Oz - EnsembleAlice In Wonderland - AliceThe Little Mermaid - GrimsbyCamp Rock - EnsembleOnce On This Island - EnsembleOnce On This Island - EnsembleThe Chum Bucket Cooking Show - HostWhile the acting resume isn't that great, I have come to absolutely adore the technical side of theater too. Here's my directing resume:The Chum Bucket Cooking Show - DirectorGoofy Ahhh Game Show - DirectorPeter Pan - Director / ChoreographerWilly Wonka Jr. - Director / Choreographer / Musical DirectorPajama Party - Director / Choreographer / Musical DirectorI am actually super proud to be doing the technical side of theater. With my love, I had started a theatre club at the school I teach at. Last year, we did Peter Pan. This year, I split the grades up with littles doing Pajama Party and older doing Willy Wonka Jr. Each are doing great and they're definitely rising up to the challenge!
I also want to note that I CANNOT sing nor dance. However, being the choreographer and musical director for these new plays has made me realize how creative I can get. While I may have two left feet, my young performers have been great with dancing and singing AND making it look good. Props to them!
Remember to break a leg! What's your favorite musical?

Monthly Reading Wrap-Up: January 2024
Hello everyone,
I did not meet my goal of trying to stay out of bookstores and buying new books. How could I when I received so many Barnes & Noble gift cards? My stack is getting huge, but it gives me much more motivation to read as to when I only had a little bit of books. I've been rereading old books and reading new books. With that, I have been rotating how I'm reading them.
Here's my reading wrap-up for January :)
- Amy December 28th - January 1st: Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone
J.K. Rowling
Book 1 of 7
*****
I reread this in order to decide if I wanted this to be donated or kept on my shelf. There were so many things that I did not remember happening in the books (Dursleys are blonde, HOW the sorcerer's stone appeared in Harry's pockets, etc).
January 2nd - January 8th
One of Us is Lying
Karen M. McManus
Book 1 of 3
****
I saw this on the shelves of the store and instantly bought it. It looks super cool and I have yet to see any spoilers from the TV show. (Although we know those don't always follow the book identically). I loved this book! I did predict part of the ending, but it did get wilder than I could imagine. January 9th - January 15 Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets
J.K. Rowling
Book 2 of 7
I already know this is my least favorite Harry Potter book so I expect that this will take the longest for me to read. However, I know there are a lot of details that were not in the movie so I'm excited to rediscover them.
January 16th - January 20th:
One of Us Is Next
Karen M. McManus
Book 2 of 3
This is the sequel to One of Us Is Lying that focuses on Bronwyn's sisters and some of the old gang is back. I absolutely adored focusing on Maeve while still having familiar faces.
*****
January 21st - Ongiong: Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban
J.K. Rowling
Book 3 of 7
I am rereading this book. I loved the introduction of Sirius Black and can't wait to reread about it. I always forget a couple details.

Hobbies: Reading
Hello everyone,
There are a couple of things I wanted to remind everyone of before I get into my hobbies:

The first hobby I wanted to discuss with you is pretty predictable: I love to read! This isn't news as you can probably tell from the Monthly Reading Wrap Up and the WWW Wednesday. The main reason I love to read? I love going to a different world where all I have to wonder is if my favorite character is going to live (they usually don't).
My typical genres are: young adult, thriller, suspense, and romance. I prefer young adult because the content is easier for me to start reading. There also isn't too much erotic scenes and if there is, it doesn't go into detail. The length is usually shorter so all of the interesting stuff happens fast.I like reading thriller and suspense because I like not knowing what's going to happen. I love the feeling that I can't put the page down and will sacrifice my sleep schedule to figure out what's going on. I also love trying to guess the ending. Even if I'm right, it doesn't deter me from enjoying it.Romance can be a difficult subject for me to get into. Usually, I don't typically search for pure romance books. I like when the romance is intertwined with the high stakes of the adventure they're going on. I am a huge fan of enemies-to-lovers!
On my current reading shelf is about 28+ books. I have started rereading my books that are on my current shelf to try and make room for new books. So far, I have not gotten rid of any of them, but it is proving to be a challenge to read some of the book series I use to devour. Right now, I am reading the Harry Potter series.
This year, I even started writing in a 2024 Reading Tracker. Normally, I wouldn't be one of those people who is motivated by doodling and marking my books (that's what GoodReads is for!), but I bought one. Boy, do I love it. It makes me want to read the books as fast as I can. There are pages for Alphabetical challenges, books I've read, series I've read, and each month's goals.
Let me know down below what some suggestions are that you for books to check out. I'm down for anything!

Times Leader: Best of the Best 2024
Hello everyone,
It's that time again where the Times Leader: Best of the Best is taking nominations. Last year, I was nominated by surprise by a couple of friends and family members. There are two rounds for the Best of the Best awards and I would really like to make it to the final round or win.
Nominations: January 7th - January 26th: In the Arts & Entertainment category, there is a nomination category for Literary Writer. If you wouldn't mind putting my name down and registering. You can nominate once per day.
Voting: February 7th - February 27th: You can vote for me under the "Arts & Entertainment" category under Literary writer IF I make it. You can vote once per day.
They then pick a gold winner (1st) and a silver (2nd). Unfortunately, last year, I was not a gold winner or silver winner. I am hoping this year that I have enough votes to make it to either of them to celebrate my achievements. If not, that is okay. I would really appreciate everyone voting for me. Click on the picture below to be able to vote!
