Halloween Decorating - Too Soon?

Hello everyone,

My boyfriend and I have been arguing about when it is appropriate to start decorating for Halloween! He started decorating the inside the week of July 19th. However, I think that is too soon! We agreed he wouldn't start decorating the outside of his apartment until after August 1st.

​What are your thoughts though?
In October, I plan on making treats every weekend. There are a ton of recipes online! I also plan on watching Halloween movies. However, when my boyfriend and I were making a list, I realized that most of mine were Scooby-Doo movies. Obviously, there are Halloween catered Scooby-Doo movies such as the Witch's Ghost, Zombie Island, Boo Brothers, Ghoul School, and the Reluctant Werewolf. It has been such a beautiful month! I have been busy with my master's degree classes, lounging by the poolside, and teaching my Harry Potter camp!

In some exciting news, we only have about a week before my The Assassin Trials is officially released! I am so excited and hope you are too!

Truck Driving Adventures

Illness

Hello everyone,

Unfortunately, at the beginning of summer, I was diagnosed with shingles. It started off with a rash on my neck that I had assumed was caused from a seatbelt irritation. The rash had then spread to the back of my neck, my hair, ears, and on my face. Upon push from my mom, I went to the doctor's and they diagnosed me with the problem.

If you know me personally, you know that I do not like going to the doctor's office. The first place I went to was an urgent care where I was told the wait was 2-3 hours. Then, as I was leaving to dismiss myself, the lady asked if I was pregnant - then profusely apologizing to me when she realized I wasn't. I was super embarrassed and hurriedly left with a little less self esteem.

I went to another urgent care and thankfully, they were all super nice. Getting prescribed medicine wasn't as bad as I thought, although the pills were nasty! I won't post pictures because honestly, it made me look like I was going to be a zombie! 

With shingles, it is important to note that anyone who has chicken pox can get it anytime. Although it is super rare for someone as young as me to get them. They are contagious and when the blisters start opening, you are more likely to spread the disease.

All that is left for me is scarring. BUT I will say, the descriptions I can give based on my own photos might be featured in future books.

Monthly Reading Wrap-Up: June 2025

Hello everyone,

Remember last month when I said I was excited to just relax in the pool and read? PSYCH! I signed up for a master's class and it is brutal! I forgot how much work college is. I have multiple readings every night, 1-2 assignments each week, a discussion each week, and I have to work on my field project throughout all of this. It is a lot, but I am motivated to work a little each day.

However, I am trying to not let my business interrupt my reading. I hope you enjoy the books I'm reading!

Concert: We The Kings, Simple Plan, & Avril Lavigne

Hello everyone,

I'm reminiscing about a concert I had recently gone to. I was lucky enough to see Avril Lavigne's Greatest Hits concert in person. It was so fun and I was so excited. Concerts are one place I feel is acceptable to who you truly are - wearing what you want, singing, dancing, and vibing with others who also love their music. While this was Avril Lavigne's concert, I also grew up with Simple Plan and a bit of We the Kings. I'm going to post all the songs I knew from the concert and bolded will be my favorite that they played.
