Insanity according to Einstein - Zuma sytle

Albert Einstein, Bheki Cele, Cadre Deployment, Crisis, Einstein, Insanity, jackie selebi, Jacob Zuma, Mangwashi Phiyega, Police, Police Commissioner, Qualifications, Results, SAPS, Science

Jacob Zuma has been criticised for appointing a new woman police commissioner Mangwashi  Phiyega due to her lack of police experience. It is felt the criteria should be the ability to fight crime rather than their allegiance to the party. While bragging that he would clamp down on crime, the previous Police Commissioner Bheki Cele also had no experience. His predecesor, Jackie Selebi was also a political appointment. Mangwashi  Phiyega will take charge of one of the toughest assignments in South Africa. She is a former social worker with a corporate background and diploma from the University of Wales. It is believed that she is also the saviour of the nation's corruption-riddled, scandal-plagued police service. Phiyega's appointment has been considered as a breakthrough and praised by the women's wing of the governing African National Congress.

Zapiro's cartoon is based on the Insights of Albert Einstein's, less well known theory - THE THEORY OF INSANITY. - The endless repetition of the same experiments, in the hope of obtaining a different result.

Zuma's Cabinet Re-shuffle according to LMFAO

President Jacob Zuma finally brings himself to fire his friend and comrade, Bheki Cele. He has named a business executive as the first woman to head the embattled SA Police Service and threw in a musical-chair dance, otherwise known as mini Cabinet reshuffle, for good measure. These were all tactical moves. The other changes to the crucial defence and transport portfolios seemed to come out of the blue and must leave both Lindiwe Sisulu and S’bu Ndebele with their noses out of joint. Defence Minister, Lindiwe Sisulu, will now serve as minister of Public Service and Administration. She replaces the late Roy Padayachie, while Mapisa-Nqakula moves to defence. Ndebele is the new minister of Correctional Services  Another dramatic move is that of deputy minister of Higher Education and Training Hlengiwe Mkhize. Her latest appointment as deputy minister of Economic Development is her third posting at different departments under Zuma's presidency. The South African Communist Party has scored again with the appointment of Ben Martins as Minister of Transport. Martins serves in the SACP central committee but Jeremey Cronin moves to the troubled department of Public Works - as Thulas Nxesi's deputy. Outgoing chairwoman of the parliamentary portfolio committee on police Sindisiwe Chikunga has been appointed deputy minister of transport. Finally the ANCYL has been rewarded with Mduduzi Manana being appointed as deputy minister of Higher Education and Training.

All Africa Games : Closing Ceremony - 600 kids suffer food poisoning

On 10 September 1999 approximately 600 children from around the country and who were members of the Field Band Foundation (the Foundation), an organisation that provides facilities and instruments for young people to play in musical bands, were engaged to perform at the opening ceremony of the All Africa Games at the Johannesburg Stadium. They assembled in the parking area of the stadium at ap proximately 10h00. The organiser of the Foundation, Ms Retha Cilliers, had made prior arrangements with a caterer  to serve two meals to the children, lunch between 12 noon and 13h30 and supper. However, lunch, consisting of beef stew and maize meal porridge (‘pap’), was only served at 15h00. A fruit juice in unmarked plastic containers was also supplied. When the caterer ran out of beef stew, pieces of chicken were served. A large number of the children took ill within an hour of having consumed the meal. They experienced nausea, stomach cramps and vomiting.

Zapiro's cartoon  depicts part of a stadium with images of children lying on the ground with arms outstretched. The caption at the top read: ‘ALL AFRICA GAMES, THE CLOSING CEREMONY . . .’. Then there is depicted an official who is on the telephone with a clipboard in his left hand, saying: ‘HELLO; CHOREOGRAPHER? DOES THIS REPRESENT THE END OF THE GAMES, OR ARE WE STILL USING THE SAME CATERER?’
