The 'Spear'to be raised at "Social Cohesion Summit"

Zuma announced the need for the social cohesion summit in May following the storm of controversy caused by Brett Murray's painting 'The Spear', which depicted Zuma with his genitals exposed. The social cohesion summit invited South Africans from across the country to discuss how “to heal divisions of our painful past and establish a society based on democratic values, social justice and fundamental human rights,” according to its final declaration. It was discussed in Kliptown, where the Freedom Charter was signed in 1955. Zapiro's cartoon shows a Zuma's disrespect for Brett Murray's right to freedom of expression.

 Second Transition to Second Phase of the Transition

Jacob Zuma attempts to introduce the concept of "Second Transition" at the ANC Policy Conference held in June 2012. He receives a strong reaction from the delegates, who feel the need for immediate radical change. They realise that if things do not change soon, they will not be able to build a South Africa for all. "It is no longer called the 'second transition' but rather the 'second phase of the transition'. There was broad agreement that they are in a transition from apartheid colonialism and the second phase of transition must be characterised by more radical policies and a renewal of the ANC and its alliance partners.

The Condemnation of being appointed Bafana Bafana Coach

The SA Football Association (Safa) said it expected Gordon Igesund to guide Bafana Bafana through the 2014 World Cup qualifiers for a place at the global showpiece in Brazil. Considering the objectives  the newly appointed  national football coach will be on the back foot from the start.Bafana Bafana's recent track record has not been convincing. Bafana Bafana have failed to qualify for the last two continental tournament finals and despite contesting the 2008 edition, their last win in a Nations Cup match came in a victory over Benin in 2004.

Jacob Zuma's much vaunted thesis - the second transition - came under intense attack at the ANC policy conference being held iat the Gallagher Estate. ANC members opposing a second term for President Jacob Zuma won a psychological victory  by forcing the party to change the name of the hotly contested “Second Transition” document to “Second Phase”. The Second Transition document dominated discussions at the four-day ANC policy conference  as it essentially became a proxy debate to test the support for Zuma and his likely challenger for the ANC presidency, Kgalema Motlanthe.

His diminished presidential authority under last week's 'constitutional addendum'raises questions about how much he'll be able to get done.
