Reported in an official media release, an ecstatic, General Bheki Cele tells media that he is extremely happy with his police force for averting serious crimes due to the discovery of an arms cache, east of Johannesburg.

Zapiro's cartoon makes a joke of this event. An official statement by the police to Parliament says that the police force lost 3453 guns in the period 2009/2010. Only half of the guns lost by civilians were recovered.

11 recent arms cache busts. What a start to 2011! Police found 60 guns. Only 3440 more guns and we will equal what we lost in 2010

Ivory Coast Crisis - Who is the President?

Gbagbo tries to stay in power despite losing November 2010 Presidential election

President Laurent Gbagbo of the Ivory coast is refusing to cede power after a November election won by opposition candidate Alassane Ouattara by 54%. The elections originally planned for 2005 were postponed to 2010 in a compromised peace deal put together by South Africa's Thabo Mbeki. Both Gbagbo and Ouattara claim victory and have taken the presidential oath of office. This has led to a crisis. Most of the world are supporting Ouattara in this battle for the presidency.

110114tt 11 01 14 14 Jan 2011 The Times Zionist cinema - A one-dimensional view

An online petition calls for the resignation of Desmond Tutu as Holocaust patron. Supporters of this petition call Tutu antisemitic and a bigot. A counter online petition gets far larger support.

Zapiro's cartoon emphasises the one-dimensional view of the group who instigated the online petition.
