Mubarak stands firm, while Egypt erupts in chaos and mass protests against his 30 years of undemocratic rule. Zapiro's cartoon is based on Shelley's well-known sonnet, Ozymandias, which was inspired by the fallen statue of Ramesses II. Like Ramasses, Mubarak is arrogant and has grand ideas about his own power.
