Zuma tries to placate Trevor Manuel
Jimmy Manyi, Jacob Zuma's newly appointed government spokesman alienates coloured voters with remarks about 'over concentration'. Trevor Manuel's open letter criticising Jmmi Manyi as a blatant racist creates a rift within the ANC. In Zapiro's cartoon, Zuma is seen to be placating Trevor Manuel in full knowledge that there is a faction of his supporters, who have no regard of the principles of the freedom charter.

Jimmy Manyi, official spokesman for the South African government makes racist statement concerning the Coloured race group in South Africa saying there was "an over-concentration of
coloureds in the Western Cape.". Trevor Manuel, cabinet minister in the Zuma government hits back in an open letter accusing Manyi of being a racist in the mold of the old apartheid regime.
Zapiro's cartoon picks up on this theme of all the race hate speech of recent times namely Kuli Roberts, Annelie Boetes, Steve Hofmeyr, Julius Malema and the Reitz 4. The fact is that the old race speech coming from all races.
