Fairies and Demons Contest Awesomeness!

There is a war coming… and the Dark will collide with the Light.

The authors of Prophecy of the Sisters and Eyes Like Stars are gathering their magical armies for a battle to end all battles.

Which side will prevail: the glittering, vicious rambunctiousness of the fairies, or the insidious malevolent evil of the demons?

FairiesDemonsPoster-1

How To Fight:

Show us your best fairy/demon warrior costume and weapons. Hint: the fairies would have armor-of-random-bits and probably fling pies, while demons… well… they would be

Prophecy Run-Down

Hey, everybody!

I'm headed out for a day of crazy Prophecy-related errands, and wanted to say hello. What are Prophecy-related errands, do you ask? Well, we need more ribbon for my gorgeous bookmarks created by Vania at Reverie Media (psssst… she is for hire as a graphic designer and is FABULOUS!) so Rebekah and I will once again clean out the red satin ribbon at AC Moore. Then we're going bookstalking at my local Borders because it's the one store that hasn't had my book on the shelves – until n

First Sightings Winners!

I still don't have a winner for the first display picture, but I will hold that prize indefinitely for the person who sends me the first bookstore picture of the 12-Copy Prophecy display.

In the meantime, the winners are….

Shayla of The Book Explorer takes the Grand Prize for the first picture of Prophecy of the Sisters in a bookstore! Devyn Burton actually texted me a picture ONE MINUTE before Shayla, but since he won the last swag bag, he was gentleman enough to forfeit the prize to the next in

AH-mazing Trailer Photos! And A Chance to Win!

I know most of you have seen the unbelievably gorgeous, haunting book trailer created by Vania Stoyanova at Reverie Book Reviews.

I keep saying this, but I think it bears repeating; Vania is a photographer first, book reviewer second, and every one of the photos used in the Prophecy trailer were styled and shot by Vania herself. As if that's not enough to keep a college girl busy, this talented photographer has also done photo shoots for Lisa Mantchev's book, EYES LIKE STARS, and BEAUTIFUL CREATU

And Now for Something a Little Different

Most of you know that my son, Kenneth, is an aspiring musician and that he has a soft spot for film scores.

In fact, I don't know another almost-seventeen-year old who can hear the difference between Danny Elfman, Clint Mansell, and Hanz Zimmer just by listening for less than ten seconds. Kenneth listens to their work constantly and has a gift for composing, as those of you who have heard his Prophecy score can attest.

But he's also just an all-around lover of music, and like all artists, he goes

Contest Update & Misc. Newz

Okay, out of my utter pity for those of you who keep messaging me for winners in the First Sighting contest, I will say that there IS a winner.

But I'm going to wait a couple more days to announce who it is, because there are still prizes up for grabs and I want to give everyone time to get more pictures in.

I still don't have winners for the first display pic (I know for a fact they're out there!), craziest picture with the book, and first picture of the interior art. That's three chances to win

What You Can Do!

I want to thank everyone for all the well wishes and offers of support. I've been getting all kinds of messages from people asking what they can do to help, so I thought I'd share a couple of things for those of you who don't know.

The first thing you can do to help a book you like is to post reviews on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Borders. If you go to those sites and type in the book you want to review, the listing will come up and you should see a button that says something like, "Create your o

First Sighting Contest!!

It is almost exactly three weeks before my official launch date of August 1st, and I've received word that my book is shipping from Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

I have stuff I want to say to people – important people – but I'd planned to say it on August 1st and now I'm all…. AHHHHHH! So I'll save that for the official release date, I think.

In the meantime, I've been meaning to post pictures of the real-life, actual hardcover books I received from the distribution center last week (this SHOULD h

Congratulations, Lisa Mantchev!!!

Today is a VERY special day. It's a day I've been counting toward for a very long time.

And it's NOT my book release day.

It's the release day for EYES LIKE STARS, the amazing debut by my good friend, Lisa Mantchev.

ELS_Cover

EYES LIKE STARS is an amazing debut, and I'm not just saying that because Lisa and I are friends. I'm saying it because it's wholly unique and utterly enchanting.

But I'm not going to say too much about the book, because glowing reviews abound online. You can find them anywhere and eve

Dear Debut Author…

Today it is exactly one month until the official release date for Prophecy. Wow. One more month – and those of you in the business of tracking new books probably know that what that really means is that my books will be shipping to stores and showing up sometime in the month of July.

That's THIS month!!

It's been almost two years since Prophecy sold to Little Brown in July of 2007. I've had plenty of time to contemplate how it would feel to have the book actually published, but I have to admit tha
