How to Enter Category? – “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World”
Today, I’m speaking with you more about book categories, a topic I started discussing last week. And to save time last week, I left out an important detail about how to enter category combinations once you’ve selected them. There’s a lot to cover, so I will follow up with you about that today.
Using correct category combinations is critical for the successful launch of a book. To learn more about how to select categories, view last week’s video entitled, “Why Research Categories?”

Entering the Category CombinationsBut where and how do you enter category combinations?
I will use an example for the short story I’m working on. It’s a spinoff of a book I published in March 2022 called “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World.”
Now I’m going to assume that you already know how to create your selections. As a reminder, you’ll need categories for each type of book. In my case, a collection for Kindle and another for paperback.
Again, I recommend setting up at least ten best category combinations for each type. Also, each marketplace is specific, so be sure to use categories that are relevant to your marketplace.
First, you’ll need to visit the Contact Us page at Amazon’s Author Central. I’ll leave a link to that below.
Next, select Amazon Book Page. Then, select Update Amazon categories.
Go to the entry page, where you can input requests for category updates. And here is where you need to be very specific with the details.
For each book-type entry, Amazon requires the four following key bits of information, and in this order:
(1) Enter the ASIN or ISBN of the book type you are referring to. You can get this information off your Amazon sales page.
(2) Your marketplace is either a .com for the US or something else for the foreign market.
(3) Select Kindle, book, or audio for your book format.
(4) Enter your selected category combination, defining the main category and any subsequent corresponding subcategories.
Get this right, and repeat until you’ve listed all entries for each book type. And then hit ‘Send message.’
After your confirmation from Amazon KDP, wait 72 hours for them to go live.
You may not see these entries on your Amazon sales page. And unfortunately, Amazon doesn’t let you control that.
So, I recommend using Publisher Rocket, a software tool to research categories. I’ll leave a link to that below too. I can see my category listings after I’ve entered my book title in the Competition Analyzer tab.
And there you go! In the end, I have a list of confirmed categories that are not intensely competitive and potentially used by buyers when searching for books.

Why Research Categories? – New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World”
Today, I’m speaking with you about how I research categories. Choosing the correct categories is critical for the successful launch of a book.
Categories can make or break an author regarding getting recognized by readers and making sales.

Finishing the EditsLast week, I talked about a short story I’m working on. It’s a spinoff of a book I published in March 2022 called “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World.”
After I finished writing the first draft of my short story, I secured an outside editor with Upwork to proofread, edit and make suggestions to improve my draft.
This process took a few days, and now I have the results.
For the last step, I’ll incorporate all edits to create the final copy.
Finding the Best CategoriesProper categories are needed for Amazon’s metadata. There are two main slots to fill in the best categories you can find to support your book.
The slots offered by Amazon are the main BISACs common to the book industry.
BISAC is an acronym for Book Industry Standards and Communication code. BISACs is a universal book classification system.
There are slightly under 4000 BISACs to help book retailers know where to place one’s book.
But just using BISACs is limiting to successful book sales.
You need to expand your category research to include the over 16,000 Amazon categories constantly being updated and added to meet consumer and market demand.
You can accomplish two outcomes using the best combination of BISAC and Amazon categories.
First, these increase your book’s chance of becoming a best seller.
Second, these help your book to be seen or noticed by book shoppers.
Since categories may differ for each book type, you’ll need categories for each type of book, that is, in my case, a collection for Kindle and another for the paperback.
I recommend setting up at least ten best category combinations for each type.
I use Publisher Rocket, a software tool to research categories.
I use an iterative process of searching for possible categories starting broad and narrowing my searches. For example, I’m looking for the best sales placement and rank combination for my book types. And this may lead to new searches.
I run this process multiple times, refining my research each time.
And presto! In the end, I have a list of categories that are not intensely competitive and potentially used by buyers when searching for books.

Why Research Keywords? – “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World”
Today, I’m speaking with you about how I research keywords. Choosing the correct keywords is critical for the successful launch of a book.
Keywords can make or break an author when it comes to getting recognized by readers and making sales.

Finishing the DraftLast week, I talked about a short story I’m working on. It’s a spinoff of a book I published in March 2022 called “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World.”
I finished writing the first draft of my short story earlier this week. And then, I did edits with Microsoft Editor and Grammarly Premium. This cleaned it up significantly and made it more professional.
I am now securing an outside editor with Upwork to proofread and edit my document. That should take about a week.
Once that’s completed, I’ll move on to compiling all edits to create the final draft.
Finding the Best KeywordsI use this time to focus on keywords while waiting on outside edits. I do this for all my books.
The correct keywords are critical for multiple aspects of your book.
First and foremost, for the titles. Because if you get the titles wrong, your book is dead.
Proper keywords must be embedded within the titles, especially the subtitle.
Also, proper keywords are needed for Amazon’s metadata. You have seven slots to fill in the best keywords you can find to support the potential reader searches for your book.
The book description is another valuable place for keywords.
I use two software tools to research keywords: KDSPY and Publisher Rocket. These are used in tandem to corroborate the findings of each.
I use an iterative process of entering possible keywords to both tools and run a comparison of scores. This may lead to new keywords.
I conduct this process, say, a half-dozen times, refining my search each time.
And voila! In the end, I have a list of keywords frequently used by potential buyers when searching for books; and in categories that are not intensely competitive.

Short Story Coming Soon? – “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World”
Today, I’m speaking with you about a new book I’m working on. It’s another book of science fiction. This will be a short story that is a spinoff of “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World.”
My short story will be part of the series “Earth, Altered Existence.”

Creating the Short StoryI published my first book in March 2022. And now that I am at six months of sales, I decided also to write a parallel short story.
I love challenging myself with writing. So yesterday, I began my new project. And I am already about 60% done with the original draft.
Indeed, I still have a good bit of work cut out for me.
After I finish the draft, it will undergo a series of edits, followed by the decision on the title and cover.
I will then go through the formatting and publishing process of Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing.
What is the Short Story About?This short story is a lighter side to my previous rigid, harsh dystopian fantasy in a post-apocalyptic world.
The short story is centered around the theme that humankind is inherently flawed and that people always find ways to make themselves feel superior.
And regardless of attempts by society to remove root causes to why one may feel superior, humans will naturally create another.
The plot is about an internal struggle with the main character, who is fortunate to ascend to a higher level of society. This character becomes haughty and arrogant. Unfortunately for the main character, she does not like herself. She has few real friends.
After her moment of reckoning, she learns that her behavior and way of thinking are flawed. She understands, for example, regardless of the way another person appears or what they do for a living, or what they have dealt with in life, that we should not judge.
She goes about changing her behavior. And people around her slowly evolve to like her. She finally creates genuine friendships.
At the end of the story, she is content with herself and goes about the rest of her life doing good for those less fortunate.

That is, my books got a new appearance this week, a facelift.

Decision to Make AudiobookI published the first versions of my Kindle and paperback books in March 2022.
At that time, I did not think about making an audiobook.
However, now that I am at six months of sales, I decided to also create an audiobook.
And this became a challenge for me, which turned into an opportunity.
Need for Consistent AppearanceIt’s essential to have a consistent appearance across all book versions.
That is, for the Kindle, paperback, and audiobook to appear the same way on Amazon’s Sales Page.
Since I needed to create the audiobook cover, I had the cover designer make similar covers for all three book versions.
And thus, the need for the cover relaunch.
So, the covers changed, but the text was not altered.
Therefore, my books are still in edition one.
As of today, the new Kindle and paperback versions are live on Amazon’s Sales Page. And I couldn’t be happier with the fresh appearance.
The audiobook version may still be a few weeks away from launch. I’m still working with my narrator on final edits.

Problems in the Previous WorldBefore the apocalypse, women lived for millennia in a world where men had all the power to control everything at the expense of women.
For example, women had little say in how they could live, what they could do, and whom they could marry.
Women could not control their reproductive rights, forcing them not to be able to work outside the home.
Women could not vote or hold political office or positions of power. This just went on and on.
In modern developed nations, women did not gain equal rights until the last 100+ years. Nevertheless, many inequalities still existed.
Problems in the Post-Apocalyptic WorldRight after the apocalypse, women initially suffered horribly at the hands of men.
Women and young girls endured rapings, became sex slaves, and were traded back and forth as war reparations.
The unbearable suffering of women seemed to have no end.

Great Mother Creates Her Utopia of RevengeNow overseeing all of this was Great Mother. She was the all-encompassing omnipotent power and creator of Earth.
And make no doubt about it, no other power could even come close to hers.
She had entrusted humans to be her Earth’s protector and stewards, and she especially gave men this power.
Yet, considering all her Earth’s layers of problems, the dominion of men was a dismal and disappointing failure.
Great Mother had her limits of disdain. Her contempt for men grew to a boiling point when she observed how reprehensibly men treated women right after the apocalypse.
So, men had to pay the ultimate price, and this punishment would now carry forward into eternity.
After the apocalypse, Great Mother put women in charge. No one, not even the men, could change that.
You see, Great Mother got her ultimate revenge. In her new Earth, everything in society flipped, and women made all the decisions.
And there would be no limit to the reprehensible cruel harshness they would exact on men.
Why should there be? This was all sanctioned by Great Mother.

That is, what led to the apocalypse that caused all the suffering of humanity? What led to domination by women?
Why was Earth destroyed and then reassembled? What powerful force caused Earth’s demise?
These answers are outlined in “Previous Earth,” my book’s third chapter.

Societal ProblemsIn the previous Earth, society was plagued with many problems.
The wealthy and powerful aligned nations controlled the world.
Greatly flawed superpowers were supposed to keep the world safe, but they were rife with their problems.
And drop the ball of world security, so to speak, they did indeed.
But why?
Each superpower was consumed with corruption, political correctness, rampant racism, crude sexism, nationalism, and religious intolerance.
In addition, each was highly wasteful, and its people were known for their extreme arrogance, indulgence, and entitlement.
Earth’s resources were highly exploited, so the air was polluted, waters were poisoned, and lands were stripped.
Leaders were elected that were more charlatans than trusted and skilled politicians.
Once elected, they were in it for themselves at the expense of their nations, their people, and their nations’ reputations.
Breakdown of World OrderAlliances broke down, and the misaligned superpowers lost sight of their responsibilities to the world.
There were simply not enough food and water to sustain the human population.
Lesser nations lusted after the power of the stronger countries. The have-not nations coveted what the have nations had – they wanted power, control, and domination.
Rogue nations more frequently conducted secret underground testing of weapons of great destructive power. Unfortunately, the superpowers were too consumed with their own problems to notice.
Bigger and more powerful underground explosions led to a disruption of Earth’s core.
The Perfect StormThe perfect storm was created for Earth’s radical change.
Great Mother was the all-encompassing omnipotent power and creator of Earth. She had entrusted humans to be her Earth’s protector and stewards.
She especially gave men this power, and men were in control for millennia.
But considering all of Earth’s many problems, the dominion of men over Earth was a dismal and disappointing failure.
And just as important, Great Mother was furious with just how men treated women.
She was determined to bring Earth back to equilibrium. And she was determined to make men pay for their reckless care of her Earth.
Men would pay a high price for their recklessness, and this punishment would carry forward into eternity.
So, Great Mother destroyed her Earth and recreated it.
And after her Earth’s recreation, she put women in charge this time.

Why a Breeding Plan? – “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic world”
Today, I’m speaking with you about the breeding plan used to develop the society of women as described in my recent book.
Society was created after women survived a terrible post-apocalyptic doom and suffered tremendously at the hands of their male captors.
Clan elders established the breeding plan for critical reasons.
Women, first, needed to have dominion over men. So women decided to increase their height and size through selective breeding.
With selective breeding, they strategically controlled their population numbers to ensure there were always more women than men.
And they also used the breeding plan to control their multiple races. Women wanted to live as one race to avoid the cultural and racial divisions they experienced in the previous world.
And just as critical, women wanted to live in harmony with Earth’s resources to never again exploit the planet like when men were in control.

Breed ManagementThe breeding plan was managed by Breed Masters.
Breed Masters were well-educated. Like skilled statisticians or actuaries, they strategically controlled the population size by regulating mating pairs and births.
Breed Masters used precise record keeping documenting everything about society; kind of like, Big Brother is Watching You.
There were, nevertheless, approved and unapproved matings.
To be approved, one must mate with the assigned person and could not mate with someone from their own clan.
Any children born from unapproved matings were not allowed to live.
The population could be increased or decreased relative to the abundance but not overuse of Earth’s resources.
Generation OneIn the first generation, the dark-skinned races were mated with light-skinned races creating half-breeds.
Generation TwoHalf-breed combinations were mated together in generation two, creating quarter-breeds that formed the basis for the next generation.
Generation ThreeIn generations three and afterward, the races were successfully mixed, and mating rules were established for appropriate skin color.
Medium-brown skin color was considered the most desirable.
Upon maturity, children without the desirable skin color were eliminated.
SelectionsFirst selections during generations one and two were based on height, size, and general soundness but not skin color.
Generations three and afterward were concentrated on all desired characteristics, including skin color.
End ResultThis well-controlled breeding plan created an established and flourishing society by generation four.
By this time, the women were six feet tall on average, and the most common skin color was medium brown.
Their overall objectives were met, and the following was achieved by continuing with the breeding plan.

Why Rules? – “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World”
Today, I’m speaking with you about the harsh rules in the society of women as described in my recent book.
Clan elders established rules, or by-laws, to govern the rigid society.
Society was created after women survived a terrible post-apocalyptic doom and suffered tremendously at the hand of their male captors.
In this dystopian society, everyone has a part to play. And play by the rules they must or suffer harsh consequences.
The rules and consequences were especially harsh for boys and men as payback for how women and girls were treated in the previous world and during the post-apocalyptic doom.

Rules for New BirthsOnly sound and fit babies born to approved mothers were allowed to live.
Those determined fit to live were given clan protection. Those unfit were eliminated.
Rules for BoysBoys could live with their clans until age six.
Then, they were separated and lived in birth groups in dorms where they were educated and given obedience training by eunuchs.
You will honor, respect, and obey all women.
Your will honor, respect, and obey your teachers.
You will never strike or do anything to bring harm to a woman or girl, even if provoked.
You will live to serve women, and your body will please women.
You will address women by their formal titles.
You will always show respect and politeness to women, saying “Yes, Ma’am,” “No, Ma’am,” “Yes, My Lady,” and “No, My Lady.”
You will always bow when a woman enters a room.
You will always obey orders from a woman without question.
You will only speak to women when spoken to by a woman. You must never start a conversation with a woman.
At fourteen, final selections were made. Boys selected as breeders were allowed to live and moved to the Men’s Dorm.
Those not selected were eliminated.
Rules for StudsIn the Men’s Dorm, selected boys were trained for breeding, that is, introduced to the refined skills necessary for the acts of mating.
Then, these young men, now called studs, were put into service.
Eunuchs took care of the studs, ensuring they were well groomed and appropriately maintained.
Studs were fed a restricted diet to ensure performance but not enough to become too muscular.
Rules for EunuchsEunuchs were created by castration of a limited number of male babies born to Server women.
They lived with their clans until age ten and then were moved to the Men’s Dorm for training by older eunuchs.
Rules for GirlsGirls lived with their birth clans and were raised by their wet nurses and mothers.
At six, girls started school, where they were educated separately from boys.
Girls, too, had to honor their mothers and clan elders and respect council rules.
The curriculum included history, mathematics, reading, writing, singing, and clan care.
At fourteen, the top fifty percent of girls were selected as breeders.
At sixteen, after training about pregnancy and motherhood, the young women were put into service as breeders.
Rules for Pleasure HousePleasure House passes were granted to reward women who had exhibited good behavior and a strong work ethic.
Studs worked in the Pleasure House to satisfy the many sexual desires of the women.
The Next StepsNow practically speaking, realize this is a book of fiction. And nevertheless, none of this is to be taken literally.
However, it makes one wonder how far people will go after being pushed to harsh extremes.

Why a Creed? – “New Pangaea – Utopia of Revenge: A Rigid Dystopian Society in a Post-Apocalyptic World”
Today, I’m speaking with you about the Creed, the twelve foundational principles used to define how a new society functioned in my recent book.
The Creed was created after women suffered a terrible post-apocalyptic doom and then suffered tremendously at the hands of their male captors.
After reversing who was in charge and overcoming domination by men, the women assembled, debated ideas, and came up with their Creed.
The Creed defined how they were to live and correct the many wrongs of the past. Evils of the past from the previous world and evils suffered during the recent post-apocalyptic doom.

The Twelve PrinciplesListen as I read the twelve principles of the Creed.
First, women will have domination over men.
Second, we (that is women) will serve as one race of people.
Third, we will live as one culture and speak one language.
Fourth, we will worship one religion.
Fifth, we will not participate in or be governed by politics.
Sixth, we will respect Earth and not squander her resources by wasting or hoarding them.
Seventh, we will increase our height and size through selective breeding.
Eighth, our clans will be our families, and everyone will contribute and pull their weight to support their clan.
Ninth, we will live to support and help each other as a unified group. We will not accept laziness, dereliction of duties, or obesity outside of pregnancy.
Tenth, a Council of Elders will govern us. Each clan will appoint an elder who will represent you on this council. Each clan representative will have an equal vote, while the speaker’s ballot will count as two if a tiebreaker is needed. Through consensus, the council will make and change laws. We will respect our elders and obey our laws.
Eleventh, we will be educated, passing our oral history and memories to each generation. Our memories of the previous Earth will be recorded to reference what was good, what we should continue, and what we should leave behind.
And lastly, twelfth, our internal differences will be settled through discussions, negotiations, compromise, and arbitration, not war. We will, however, defend ourselves if attacked from the outside.

Yet, do think about these twelve principles. And ask yourself if some form of these could be or should be used to deal with our current political problems. Because now we may live with significant changes due to recent rulings from the US Supreme Court.
