The Lookback Window by Kyle Dillon HertzMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
A Masterfully Written Novel!
As a childhood sexual abuse victim by male abusers, I agreed to review this book with feelings of reserved curiosity. Nevertheless, I was quickly impressed with the writer’s style. Hertz demonstrates a mastery of English with his colorful use of words to set the theme and plot and convey his characters’ thoughts and feelings.
Hertz takes you on the painful journey of Dylan, the main character, to find peace with his traumatic past of horrific childhood sexual abuse at the hands of a duplicitous boyfriend who pimped him out to a group of pedophiles. In addition, this boyfriend introduced him to a world of severe drug use and sex addiction. Dylan struggles through it into adulthood, making many mistakes while trying to get justice against his abusers. Yet the clock is ticking, with the statute of limitations against crimes committed many years before. Ultimately, Dylan obtains much-needed evidence to cinch his case with the FBI.
This was a book that I found hard to put down and compelled to keep reading. As a sexual abuse victim, I empathized with Dylan, understood his many struggles, and wanted justice for his abusers. I loved this novel until the end, and I’m sure you will too.

Mesmerizing Until the Last Page!
As a male sexual abuse victim of male abusers, I had ambivalent feelings about reading this book by Adam Sommers. But I was intrigued to read this story about male sexual abuse victims of a female abuser. This twisted narration does not disappoint. Sommers lays out the journey of an extremely wealthy woman who uses her position in life to take advantage of and sexually victimize her male employees. The characters were well-developed, and the story was spellbinding. I was mesmerized until the last page.

Disturbing and Intense!
I was reeled in by Gregg Olsen’s hook in the first chapter. And I didn’t want to stop reading until the end. This was a disturbing story and intense to read. Olsen used his platform to bring to light the common problem of the long-lasting effects of child sexual abuse and how it impacts families for a lifetime. I loved how Olsen headed up chapters with different characters' views. It helped me to keep track of all the main- and subplots. Amazingly, this book had an unexpected twist at the end with one of its sub-characters. It created an ending I did not expect. An engaging thriller to read, for sure!

Intoxicating “Who Done It”
I describe this book as an intoxicating “who done it.” Olsen masterfully pulls you in with a series of unresolved murders of young women in Tacoma, WA. Some subplots steer you in one direction, making you think you’ve resolved the murder mysteries. Yet, it is not until the last chapters that the real murderer is revealed, a person unsuspected from the beginning. Once I got into it, this book was hard to put down. A captivating thriller to the last page!

Mesmerized Until the End!
I was pleasantly surprised to read this thriller by Amanda Jaeger. I am not interested in art or paintings, so I started this book with ambivalent feelings. But Jaeger masterfully uses this backdrop to draw the reader in and hold their attention. Once I started reading, I didn’t want to stop until I finished; I was mesmerized until the end. Jaeger ends her book on a cliffhanger, and it begs for a sequel. Dive in and hold on! You will not be disappointed.

Written With Poetic Color
As a southerner, I read this book with initial mixed feelings, only to find myself drawn to it in the middle and couldn’t put it down. Owens does a magnificent job of writing with colorful, almost poetic, imagery of the North Carolina coastline depicting a time during the 1900s when the south transitioned from old to new. Linking nature to human frailty, this is a captivating murder mystery with a surprise at the end that shows all is not as it appears. An intriguingly entertaining book to read.

An Exciting Dystopian Thriller
I was pleasantly surprised to read this dystopian thriller by Joseph Dowling. Dowling takes you along the perilous journey of Michael Randall and his daughter, Hope, to escape their rigidly controlled English government. A country where thirteen-year-old girls are forced to submit to fertility tests for government-run baby factories. She finds refuge in Scotland with her father’s brother. Can You Forgive Your Abuser? – Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD
As a childhood sexual abuse victim, can you forgive your abuser? This is a question I’ve really wrestled with.
I know, from a religious standpoint, that I should. However, the crimes committed against me were so egregious that I have still not been able to forgive my abusers fully.
Hi, this is Kurt B. Ellis, an author who self-publishes with Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. I am a childhood sexual abuse survivor who wrote this novel to share my story.
My novel’s title is “Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD.”
This novel was based on my life. It begins with my horrible childhood and continues through my remarkable journey of survival and recovery.
Stay tuned, and let me share my views on forgiving my abusers.
Multiple AbusersI say “abusers” (as plural) because there was more than one. Unfortunately, I had multiple abusers.
My sadistic brother was my primary abuser. When I was six, he began grooming me for a childhood of sexual servitude to members of a secretive satanic cult that he was a member of.
My grooming was calculated and well-planned, perhaps by the satanic cult. My purpose was to serve him and then the dozens of cult members.
All were young men in their late teens and twenties. These are grown men who understand that their actions were wrong. They also understood these were serious crimes. Crimes against me and crimes against other young boys and girls in the neighborhood.
My sexual abuse began at six and lasted for eleven years. I finally freed myself from this abuse when I matured into a man at seventeen. As a sexually mature male, I no longer was of any value to this group of pedophiles since they only wanted children.
I did not keep a score of the times I was sexually abused and raped. But I’m sure it must have been toward the hundreds approaching one thousand.
And the one person who started my abuse and orchestrated my service to the cult members was my sadistic brother.
He basically was my pimp. He controlled when I had to service his cult buddies, which was often, where this occurred, and he collected the payment.
And this is the one person that I cannot bring myself to forgive fully. I just cannot fathom why one brother would do this to another. It is beyond my mind to justify.
I am now in my 60s, and hardly a day goes by that I do not think about my childhood sexual abuse. Although I have worked through my trauma with years of therapy, the psychological, emotional, and physical scars will remain for the rest of my life.
So my answer is an emphatic “No!” I cannot and will not forgive my brother.
In summary, you must read my novel to learn more about how I survived my ordeal and made the best out of my life, regardless of my horrid childhood.

Get Revenge on Your Sexual Abusers? – Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD
As a childhood sexual abuse victim, did you ever want to get revenge on your sexual abusers?
Maybe this was something that you didn’t act on, but did you at least think or fantasize about it?
Hi, this is Kurt B. Ellis, an author who self-publishes with Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. I am a childhood sexual abuse survivor who wrote this novel to share my story.
My novel’s title is “Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD.”
This novel was based on my life. It begins with my horrible childhood and continues through my remarkable journey of survival and recovery.
Stay tuned, and let me share my story of revenge.
Almost Succeeded! When it came to getting revenge on my sexual abusers, I certainly thought about it, even to the point of acting on it and almost succeeded.
Unfortunately, I came dangerously close to killing my primary abuser, that is, killing my sadistic brother.
After years of abuse, I was at my breaking point. And finally, when I matured and started filling out, I had the size, strength, and mental fortitude to take my brother on.
At seventeen, I decided to murder him when he came home on furlough from the Army. He was twenty-one, and sure enough, he wanted sex with me again.
I expected this and planned an elaborate scheme to take him out at the same place where he had brutally raped me when I was eleven.
My plan was to kill him and bury his body there.
At the last minute, I just couldn’t do it. I couldn’t bring myself to go through with it. I wouldn’t lower myself to his level.
Instead, I finally stood up to him and promised I would kill him if he ever touched me again. He backed down because I was no longer the little boy he could dominate.
And my eleven years of contact sexual abuse ended that day. But I still had the mental scars and emotional fallout to deal with for the rest of my life.
I also had other abusers. Multiple men in a satanic cult that my brother introduced me to. I wanted revenge on them too, but that never materialized other than in my fantasies. Because their identities were always hidden behind masks.
Now in my 60s, I’m glad I didn’t succumb to my darker side. I did not become a killer or a child abuser like my brother. And I kept myself out of the North Carolina prison system.
Instead, my sweetest revenge was letting my brother know he did not defeat me; he could not and would not destroy me.
You see, as a teenager, I vowed that I would succeed in life and make something out of myself.
I proceeded to get an education and got the hell out of there. And my life was richer in the end for it.
And every time my brother saw me as an older, established adult man, I’m sure he was baffled why he did not destroy me.
And I did not purposely flaunt my success or wealth and rub it in his face. Instead, I simply existed; I just quietly existed and tried to live my life as a better person than him, regardless of my horrible past.
And that ate away at him until he took his last natural breath from advanced cancer in his early 60s. He hated me until his end. And quite honestly, I despised him until his end.
And that was my revenge.
In summary, you must read my novel to learn more about how I survived. How I went on to make the best out of my life, regardless of my horrid childhood.

The Deviant by Adam SommersMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Mesmerizing Until the Last Page!
As a male sexual abuse victim of male abusers, I had ambivalent feelings about reading this book by Adam Sommers. But I was intrigued to read this story about male sexual abuse victims of a female abuser. This twisted narration does not disappoint. Sommers lays out the journey of an extremely wealthy woman who uses her position in life to take advantage of and sexually victimize her male employees. The characters were well-developed, and the story was spellbinding. I was mesmerized until the last page.

Fear Collector by Gregg OlsenMy rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yet, it is unclear what will happen to Michael. This book is ripe for a sequel. Jump in! I’m sure you’ll enjoy the ride. You will not be disappointed.

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia OwensMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
Written With Poetic Color
As a southerner, I read this book with initial mixed feelings, only to find myself drawn to it in the middle and couldn’t put it down. Owens does a magnificent job of writing with colorful, almost poetic, imagery of the North Carolina coastline depicting a time during the 1900s when the south transitioned from old to new. Linking nature to human frailty, this is a captivating murder mystery with a surprise at the end that shows all is not as it appears. An intriguingly entertaining book to read.

Were You Selected for Sexual Abuse? – Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD
As a male childhood sexual abuse victim, did you ever wonder why this happened to me? That is, why were you selected for sexual abuse?
Was there a target on your head as a child that made you more susceptible to sexual abuse?
I have often pondered this question and still don’t have the answers, but I have some clues.
Some clues followed the stereotypical male sexual abuse victims’ patterns, and others were not obvious.
Stay tuned, and let me share why I feel I was selectively targeted for sexual abuse.
Why Was I Targeted? My sexual abuse began when I was six and lasted for eleven years.
I was groomed and sexually abused for years by my sadistic brother. He then pimped me out to a pedophilic satanic cult he was a member of. This ended after I was useless to them when I sexually matured at seventeen.
My father was a workaholic and emotionally distant. As a result, I grew up not feeling loved by him. My mother was loving but also quite controlling. She did, however, try to compensate for his lack of attention. As a result, our family was quite dysfunctional.
I was the second male child born within a group of five children. I was the youngest. My older brother was extremely jealous of me and prone to extremes of manipulation, coercion, and violence. My three sisters and I feared my brother and father.
I was short and petite, always the smallest male in my class. I was also years behind in my physical development and sexual maturation.
I was a precocious child but not street-smart. I was perhaps a bit more naïve and gullible than most other kids my age.
I desperately wanted to be accepted by my peers and to fit in. I always felt like a bit of a loner. I wanted male friends and to have a positive male role model in my life.
My brother saw my weaknesses and took advantage of me. And once I became his sexual property, I was caught in a continuous cycle of shame, embarrassment, guilt, and further coercion and manipulation.
I was sexually abused multiple times each day for years. My complete silence was ensured with threats of violence and threats that they would also abuse my sister if I did not fully cooperate. He and the cult members knew I loved my sister and would do almost anything to protect her.
So I hope you can see the patterns which are common in sexually abused boys: absent or emotionally absent father, dysfunctional family, short petite stature and slow physical development, not street smart, a bit of a loner, hungry for male friends and male connections, low self-esteem and self-worth, easily manipulated, controlled and extorted.
Let this be a lesson to all young boys’ parents, loved ones, and guardians. Be on your guard for how sexual predators specifically target boys, the characteristics they are looking for, and how they go about securing their silence. Be on your guard to ensure that the sexual predation of children stops.

Are We Reliving the Repressive 1960’s? – Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD
Looking at our recent political and societal unrest in parts of the US, I am asking if we are reliving the repressive 1960s.
Having grown up in that era in North Carolina, I witnessed many things then that I fear are being repeated now – and this disturbs me.
My novel starts at a time when society was governed by religious intolerance, extreme racism, abhorrent homophobia, and strict adherence to culture.
Stay tuned, and let me share more about why our society’s recent regression is so disturbing.
History is Repeating!I worry that history is repeating itself. I have written in detail about all the disturbing things I witnessed and experienced as a child growing up in the repressive South.
I grew up in a society where parents controlled the lives of their children, and childhood was controlled by harsh capital punishment.
Parents controlled everything: whom you associated with, your political views, your choice of religion, where you went to school or college, whom you could marry, your choice of occupation, and so on.
If a young girl or woman got pregnant out of wedlock, she could be shamed and forced to marry her child’s father or sent far away to have her baby and then be forced to give it up for adoption. Either way, her life was destroyed by societal norms. She was not in control of her decisions or her body.
If a young boy or man came out as gay, he was ostracized from society and marginalized. He could be bullied, picked on, beaten, or even killed, and the police would look the other way. He would have few life options and would have difficulty finding suitable employment. As a result, he would be forced to go underground and live his life as a lie; all to fit society’s expectations.
If you were a person of color, that is, non-white, your life was miserable from birth. You were forced to live in a segregated society and attend segregated schools. Your employment opportunities were limited to menial labor with low wages and harsh working conditions. You were held back, held down, and not allowed to better yourself by that society.
This repressive society was ripe for something just as insidious. Children could be easily exploited and sexually abused. There were many deep, dark secrets and denials. This was how I lived and became a target for sexual abuse.
Our children should be taught all aspects of our history – the good and the bad – and then they can choose how they want to live and run our country.
Being informed of the truth helps us to prevent the errors of our past. But unfortunately, we’re seeing these errors bubble up across the states, and we see these errors repeated worldwide.
And for the sexually abused, tell your story, and tell it all. Because how will we ever break the cycle of childhood sexual abuse if we do not talk about it?
In SummaryMy inspiring LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age story is about hope, courage, and the resilience of the human spirit.
My novel has received great reviews on Amazon and Goodreads. My Kindle is listed in the top 10 in “Biographical Fiction.” You can find a full review by Robin Ginther-Venneri on her website, “Robin’s Review,” and her site on TikTok. Also, you can see my novel listed in online blogs at “The Novel Bookstore,” “Readers Village,” “Mystery & Thriller Library,” and “Amazon Book of the Day.” In addition, you can find my novel spotlighted on Instagram by author Leonora Ross and promoted at “It’s Write Now.”
In summary, you will need to read my novel to learn more about the ways of the repressive South that we should not repeat.

How to Stop the Cycle of Sexual Abuse? – Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD
As a childhood sexual abuse survivor, did you ever ask how to stop the cycle of sexual abuse? As an adult, did you ever feel that you had a moral obligation to prevent it from happening again?
Hi, this is Kurt B. Ellis, an author who self-publishes with Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. I am a childhood sexual abuse survivor who wrote this novel to share my story.
My novel’s title is “Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD.”
This novel was based on my life. It begins with my horrible childhood and continues through my remarkable journey of survival and recovery.
Stay tuned, and let me share more about how to stop the cycle of childhood sexual abuse.
Seeking JusticeI will not address the topic of seeking justice in today’s narrative.
Still, when you can, I encourage victims to seek justice against their abusers.
This will surely be an effective means to deal with the cycle of abuse.
Do the Abused Become Abusers? However, I want to address today whether childhood sexual abuse victims later become adult abusers of children. Unfortunately, this highly controversial topic is still poorly backed with reliable empirical research.
In the 1900s, research studies suggested a causal link in males between childhood sexual abuse victims and adult male perpetrators of sexual abuse on children.
But these studies were later debunked by more recent research. And the causal link was weakened by other more critical multifactorial influences: family relationships, child development, instilled values and morality, and psychosocial development, to name a few.
Speaking from the heart, I know that becoming an abuser is a matter of choice. I have lived my life without abusing anyone. I could never do what was done to me.
If anything, for example, I have lived the opposite with my children and grandchildren. Any affection I have shown them was positive, supportive, and nurturing but never abusive.
Telling Your StoryBut just as critical is the need to tell your story. Especially for males because sexually abused boys are a silent minority.
Discuss it with your family and friends and make everyone aware of your abuse. Do not continue to keep secrets and denials. Do not be shameful and embarrassed.
Embrace your abuse, situation, and story, and tell it all. Because how will we ever break the cycle of childhood sexual abuse if we do not talk about it? I feel this is one of the fundamental ways to break the cycle of childhood sexual abuse.
Now that I have written this novel and am using social media to spread the news about my abuse, I feel much better about myself. And I’m sure if you talk about your situation, you will feel better too.
My novel has received great reviews on Amazon or Goodreads. You can find a full review by Robin Ginther-Venneri on her website, “Robin’s Review,” and her site on Tiktok. In addition, you can see my novel listed in online blogs at “The Novel Bookstore,” “Readers Village,” “Mystery & Thriller Library,” and “Amazon Book of the Day.”
In summary, my inspiring LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age story is about hope, courage, and the resilience of the human spirit.
I sincerely hope my novel will inspire and support other sexually abused people or those suppressed by life events beyond their control.

Were You Forbidden to Talk? – Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD
As a childhood sexual abuse victim, were you forbidden to talk? That is, talk about it while it was happening, and later were you forbidden to talk about it as an adult?
I was forbidden to talk about my abuse by two critical sets of people in my life. As expected, one group was my abusers, and the other, unfortunately, was my mother.
Hi, this is Kurt B. Ellis, an author who self-publishes with Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. I have written this novel to share my story.
My novel’s title is “Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD.”
This novel was based on my life. It begins with my horrible childhood and continues through my remarkable journey of survival and recovery.
Stay tuned, and let me share more about how I was forbidden to talk about my abuse.
Forbidden By My AbusersMy initial abuser and subsequent abusers forbade me to talk about my sexual abuse.
I was repeatedly threatened that if I mentioned this to anyone, I would suffer more extreme levels of abuse and that I could also be killed.
Not only would they kill me, but they would also kill anyone whom I discussed my abuse with.
I was coerced and manipulated and made to feel that I would be responsible for the deaths of others.
And as a result, I lived in constant fear and suffered from low self-esteem and paranoia.
My silence ensured eleven years of trauma by my abusers.
And even after the abuse stopped, I was further controlled with threats of violence by my abusers way into adulthood.
Forbidden By My MotherFinally, in my teens, I mustered the courage to seek help from my mother. The one adult I thought would swoop me up in their arms and protect me.
But quite contrarily, that did not happen. Instead, I was immediately and harshly rebuked for speaking to my mother about my abuse.
She slapped me across my face and told me she didn’t want to hear such filth. She twisted my duty of silence with religion and the need to protect our family name.
If Jesus Christ could suffer on the cross for all the sins of mankind, I could suffer in silence for the goodness of our family name. Instead, I was ordered to never again speak of my abuse and take my shame to my grave.
You see, my mother was more interested in maintaining her sense of our family standing in our community rather than protecting me.
Abdicating her parental responsibility and abandoning her duty to protect me in lieu of her vanity and pride caused a lifelong riff with my mother, resulting in me not trusting adults.
As a young teenager, I vowed to get the hell out of that community and move on to better my life elsewhere as soon as I came of age. I survived my ordeal and held on to my vow. Remarkably, I am now a better person because of it.
In addition, my inspiring LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age story is about hope, courage, and the resilience of the human spirit.
I sincerely hope my novel will inspire and support other sexually abused people or those suppressed by life events beyond their control.

Consistent Reviews For My Trauma Novel! – Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD
I am pleased to announce that I have very positive and consistent reviews for my trauma novel, which is now being sold on Amazon.
My novel’s title is “Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD.”
Hi, this is Kurt B. Ellis, an author who self-publishes with Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. I have written this trauma book to share my story.
The Kindle and paperback have been live now for ten days.
The novel was based on my life. It begins with my horrible childhood and continues through my remarkable journey of survival and recovery.
Stay tuned, and let me share more information about my novel’s reviews.
What Do First Readers Think? The first few reviews and ratings on Amazon and Goodreads are pretty positive. These are from previously recruited ARC reviewers and from first purchases. The average rating out of 5 thus far on Amazon is 4.6, and on Goodreads is 4.5.
Some of the common threads in reviews are as follows:
Be mindful of the many trigger warnings; you must take them seriously and ensure that you are mentally ready to read this story. The author states, “we grew up in a repressive southern society of deep, dark secrets in the 1960s. Yet on the surface, it appeared that we grew up in a sleepy, conservative, unassuming, and uninspiring farming community. But under that cloak of disguise, we came from a society that clung to a past governed by strict adherence to culture, religious intolerance, and extreme racism.” This statement sets the tone for this story. This book is not for everyone; I say that, not meaning it was an awful book. Please take the author’s instruction to heart. This book proves we don’t know what someone is going through. The book was tough to read; however, an uncomfortable story that needed to be told and read. This story will linger with me for quite some time.Comprehending and processing this story was the most difficult. So many readers had to stop, collect their wits, and resume reading later when they felt they were in a stronger mental space. The story was quite heartbreaking. The author suggested keeping tissues nearby. This suggestion was warranted because multiple readers indicated they cried a lot. This book is not for the faint of heart! Indeed, the author does not hold back, and the details are not sugar-coated to make them more palatable to the reader. It’s amazing what the author went through and all he was able to accomplish in his life. But nevertheless, it was a shame that he did not get justice for what he endured. To see all reviews, please go to Amazon or Goodreads. You can find a full review by Robin Ginther-Venneri on her website, “Robin’s Review,” and her site on Tiktok. In addition, you can see my novel listed in online blogs at “The Novel Bookstore” and “Readers Village.”
In summary, my inspiring LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age story is about hope, courage, and the resilience of the human spirit.
I sincerely hope my novel will inspire and support other sexually abused people or those suppressed by life events beyond their control.
If I reach at least one sexually abused person, I will have met my goal.

My Trauma Book is Now Live! – Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD
I am pleased to announce that my trauma book is now on Amazon.
My novel is “Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD.”
Hi, this is Kurt B. Ellis, an author who self-publishes with Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. I have written this trauma book to share my story.
The Kindle and paperback went live on March 01, and both are now available for orders.
The novel was based on my life. It begins with my horrible childhood and continues through my remarkable journey of survival and recovery.
Stay tuned, and let me share more information about my latest novel.
Positive Reviews Thus FarThe first few reviews and ratings on Amazon and Goodreads are pretty positive. These are from ARC reviewers that I solicited last month. Some of the common themes from reviews are …
Be mindful of the trigger warnings; you need to take them seriously. This is a heartbreaking and horrific story.Get your tissues ready. I cried a lot while reading. It’s amazing what he went through and all he was able to accomplish in his life. The abuse dished out to the main character was unfathomable, and this story will be with me for quite some time. This book is not for the faint of heart! It was definitely hard to read some portions, as the author does not sugar coat. This novel is incredibly difficult to read, as it conveys the sad reality of life for many children in this era.Parents believed themselves to be entitled to do whatever they wished with their children, which included psychological manipulation, physical and sexual violence, neglect, and a lack of basic necessities. This heartbreaking story gives a glimpse into the tragic life of its author. It shines an uncomfortable spotlight on his struggles and suffering at the hands of those closest to him, leaving me with a heavy heart and longing for justice for what he endured. For reviews in full, please go to Amazon or Goodreads. You can also find a full review by Robin Ginther-Venneri on her website, “Robin’s Review.” In addition, you can see my book listed online at “The Novel Bookstore.”
In summary, my inspiring LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age story is about hope, courage, and the resilience of the human spirit. From the heart of a person who survived childhood sexual abuse and trauma, my novel’s underlying message is simple. If I can do this, you can too!
I sincerely hope my novel will inspire and support other sexually abused people or those suppressed by life events beyond their control. If I reach at least one sexually abused person, I will have met my goal.

How Did You Survive Trauma? – Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD
As a childhood sexual abuse survivor, have you ever asked yourself, “How on earth did I survive my trauma?”
Looking back at my horrible childhood and all the crap I went through, I am still amazed that I turned out as well as I did.
Hi, this is Kurt B. Ellis, an author who self-publishes with Amazon’s Kindle Direct Publishing. I have written a novel to share my story.
My novel’s is “Boy in the Barn: Journey of Triumph Over Horrific Child Abuse, Sexual Abuse, and PTSD.”
The Kindle and paperback will go live on March 01, 2023.
This novel was based on my life. It begins with my horrible childhood and continues through my remarkable journey of survival and recovery.
Stay tuned, and let me share more information about how I survived my horrible child abuse and sexual abuse.
Denialism and Repressed MemoriesDuring my abuse, I tried my best to deny all the horrific things.
I kept telling myself that these were not true and were not happening to me.
I denied my situation and pretended that everything was OK.
In public, I was this happy, cheerful, precocious boy that appeared to enjoy life, at least on the surface.
Yet, deep down inside, privately, I knew the horribleness was all true. Why? Well, my sadistic brother abused me daily and made sure I couldn’t forget.
But he couldn’t break me. And I think that was the one thing that perplexed and incensed him so.
No matter how much he tried, he could not mentally or emotionally destroy me. So I did not crumble into a shattered, sniveling, pathetic being and wither away like he hoped; instead, I took it. And in the end, it made me stronger.
Why? Well, you see, early on, I became quite resilient and stubborn. I remember thinking, you bastards may take my body and even try to possess my mind, but I refuse to give in.
I was determined to survive and make something out of myself. Because, in the end, that was what my abusers couldn’t do. To him and all my pedophilic abusers, I would not stoop to their level or their cruel world.
So I guess you could chalk this up to steel will and stubbornness. Yet it didn’t last forever because I had a lifetime of PTSD and repressed memories. But nevertheless, I managed to recover from that too.
From the heart of a person who survived childhood sexual abuse and trauma, my novel’s underlying message is simple. If I can do this, you can too!
I sincerely hope that my novel will inspire and support other sexually abused people or those suppressed by life events beyond their control.
If I can reach at least one sexually abused person, I will have met my goal.
My inspiring LGBTQIA+ coming-of-age story is about hope, courage, and the resilience of the human spirit.
