Goals and dreams for the new year 2024
“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals.” ~ Melody Beattie We’re nearing the end of 2023 and the new year 2024 is around the corner, as of this post’s writing. I hope you had a great Christmas with your family and your friends, and have a wonderful, new year overflowing with God’s blessings. I usually do several things at the end of each year and before the start of the new one: Reflect over the past year and ...

Lessons from stray cats
“There are few things more heartwarming than to be welcomed by a cat.”–Tay Hohoff Do you love or hate cats? Usually it’s one or the other; it’s hard to be neutral concerning cats. Recently when I asked a friend at church to pray for a hard situation concerning a cat, he said, “Okay, pray for me to have more compassion for cats. I don’t like them and I’m allergic to them.” LOL. I have another friend who is highly allergic to them and sneezes terribly, even from their furs’ dander on our carpet. O...

God and our prayers did a MIRACLE for Phil the stray cat (and about my other cats)
If you’ve been following me on Facebook, as you know, I have been praying fervently and calling and emailing pet rescue places and shelters since I brought Phil the male stray cat inside our house one night when I saw him walking/running on 3 legs. I made an appointment with the vet and she said his leg/paw wasn’t broken. At the follow-up appointment the next week, his leg/paw seemed okay. They also tested Phil’s stool sample for parasites and worms (negative). They tested him for FIL (the fatal...

Beautiful changes
It’s officially Autumn (Fall), one of my fave times of year. The leaves haven’t changed to glorious colors yet here in Missouri, but will soon. “Autumn, the season that teaches us that change can be beautiful.” Heather Stillufsen I’m knee-deep in writing my next book (on repentance – the book cover reveal is soon!), attending a ladies’ Bible study at my new church (Hope City Church in Harrisonville, Missouri), and leading a writers’ Progress Pod for my writing coaches CJ and Shelley Hitz’s membe...

An ordinary day on your birthday, an extraordinary God
Today is my birthday! I haven’t done anything spectacular to celebrate it; in fact, it’s been a very ordinary day…primarily because I just had some dental work done and I’m on a soft food diet this week (which means, the hygienist said, no chips & salsa right now (or cake)…although I did buy a Sonic hot fudge sundae today to put in my coffee for a little chocolate, creamy treat!). I can’t have hot or cold drinks right now, so I had to let it cool first. But it was so good! But my perspective (de...

When you’re looking for a new church home
My husband Ray and I have been looking for a new church home for years. I’m excited about the new church that we’ve been attending, Hope City Church of Harrisonville, Missouri. Why? We’re among the 1/3 of people who used to attend church, but now stay away specifically because they “lost trust in God, the church, or Christians.” (According to a 2019 “Unchurched Report” by Billy Graham Center Institute and Lifeway Research, You Found Me, Rich Richardson, p. 47) It’s a startling and scary fact tha...

Summer update
How is your summer going so far? Did you take a vacation or staycation or are you planning one for off-season? I’m still praying to go back to Destin, Florida this year! The beach is my place of peace and refilling. God can make a way! If you are a family member or a friend or you’re a subscriber on my website’s email list (for my newsletter and most recent updates), you know that I recently took in a stray cat. His name is Silas. I wrote a blog post about his story here. I also created a vlog a...

Our new cat Silas
Today has been an overcast, rainy day. It hasn’t been raining cats and dogs lately, or at least not dogs! Cats…well, we do have several strays in our neighborhood. About a month ago, I brought one in to stay! Here’s the story of Silas our new cat. Although there are several strays roaming our neighborhood, this beautiful one came more frequently than the others. Of course, he especially did this when I began feeding him! My adopted black cat, Natalya (I adopted her several Christmases ago), watc...

Are you making 2nd quarter goals? Hope, health, & happiness.
Yesterday I met with our CPA to file our 2022 taxes. So. Not. Fun! My husband Ray and I now owe even more taxes than the year before. I’m looking to Jehovah Jireh our Provider. God provided a ram for Abraham to sacrifice to God instead of his beloved, precious son Isaac. God told Abraham to kill Isaac to test Abraham’s faith in Him. When God saw that Abraham was going to obey, not even withholding from God his son who he waited years into his old age to have and who he greatly loved, God stoppe...

What needs reviving in your life?
You’ve probably heard of the Asbury Revival at Asbury University in Wilmore, Kentucky. It’s been going about 11 days strong now. Students were having a regular service in the chapel there and a few lingered after the service. The Spirit of God fell and there was worship, praise, and repentance among the university students. People from across the USA and even the world began coming to witness and to participate in this event. It caught the attention of the media and other places began experienci...
