I grew up in America, but now I live in Wales with my husband, fellow writer Patrick Samphire, our two sons, and our sweet (and extremely vocal) tabby cat, Pebbles. I write fantasy rom-coms for adults (most recently Claws and Contrivances and Good Neighbors) and fun MG fantasy adventure novels, too (most recently The Raven Crown duology). My next series will be the adult romantasy trilogy The Queens of Villainy, published by Tor Bramble, starting in 2025 with Wooing the Witch Queen.

Nenia Campbell
Nenia Campbell is 6% done with A Song Only We Can Hear: Two years ago, I lost my father to brain cancer. And the most insidious thing about cancer of the brain is that it slowly destroys who you are as a person. It was like losing him twice. Reading this book feels like a hug, because it acknowledges the hurt, but also shows that life goes on, and nothing shows you who your true friends are like the people who stand with you when you feel like your world is falling apart

“I was twelve years of age when I cut my hair short, became a highwayman, and captured husbands for both of my sisters.

I could hardly wait to find out what would happen next.”

I made it almost to the end of my front garden.”

“For me, Mama's cabinet had been full of mysteries and secrets to be puzzled out, like an adventure. For them it had been full of memories. And I had broken all of them.”

Yes! I'm reading it to my 8-year-old. We're only a few chapters in so far, but it's been a lovely read-together book for us!

Thank you! I've added them. I'm surprised it's taken me so long to read her, as I've heard so many good things about her writing for years. So much to read, so little time!

Oh, I'm so glad you enjoyed Kat, Incorrigible!

My personal favorite Heyer novels (each of them quite different from each other) are The Talisman Ring (my top favorite!), Devil's Cub, and Faro's Daughter. The nice thing is, there was so much variety in her writing, if you try different novels of hers, you're almost sure to find at least one that clicks!
