I'm currently working on a new project that’s in the very early stages—I can’t share anything about it yet except to say that it’s a change of pace and a fun creative challenge. My husband and I are also expecting our first baby in September… which is a new project of a very different variety!

That said, I’ve really loved exploring the world of American Royals. I don’t know if I’ve left it behind for good! I might return to these characters for a third book someday (and I have some ideas for where the story would go, if I do…!)(less)

It would be amazing to see the Washington family and the American court depicted on-screen (plus, I keep imagining the costumes!) My LA agent is hard at work trying to make this happen—I’m keeping my fingers crossed. If there’s ever any news, I’ll share it asap on my social media handles at @katharinemcgee.(less)

Majesty Preorder Campaign

The preorder campaign for Majesty is live! From now until September 1, if you purchase the book from any retailer and submit your receipt here, you’ll receive a bonus chapter from American Royals book 1! I love this scene—it was actually written as chapter one of American Royals, so it was originally meant to be the opening of the entire series. Ultimately, I realized that we needed to jump right

My advice for teen authors is, most of all, to focus on being a teenager! You have the rest of your life to build a career. High school and college are a time when you get to explore the world, figure out what type of person you want to be. Focus on See Full Answer

I would love for American Royals to become a tv show or movie! My agent in LA is hard at work trying to make it happen. It would be so much fun to see the Washingtons and all their drama on the big screen!

“They say that before death, people’s lives flash before their eyes. But as the ground rushed ever faster toward her, the girl could think only of the past few hours, the path she’d taken that ended here. If only she hadn’t talked to him. If only she hadn’t been so foolish. If only she hadn’t gone up there in the first place.”
Katharine McGee, The Thousandth Floor

“And beneath her bare feet lay the biggest structure on earth, a whole world unto itself. How strange that there were millions of people below her at this very moment, eating, sleeping, dreaming, touching. Avery blinked, feeling suddenly and acutely alone. They were strangers, all of them, even the ones she knew. What did she care about them, or about herself, or about anything, really?”
Katharine McGee, The Thousandth Floor

“Leda was struck by how much Avery reminded her of Atlas. They weren’t related by blood, and yet they had the same white-hot intensity. When they turned the full force of their attention on you, it was as blinding as looking into the sun.”
Katharine McGee, The Thousandth Floor

“Her body was reacting instinctively to his nearness, like a plant that had been too long in the dark and was finally exposed to sunlight.”
Katharine McGee, The Thousandth Floor

“She nodded, breaking every promise to herself, loving him.”
