FATAL FUNDS

FATAL FUNDS - hybrid fiction & Non-fict. Dedicated to all investors who have trusted their money to an unscrupulous or incompetent financial planner only to suffer the agony of loss and regret. These losses give rise to a litany of gut-wrenching emotions including grief, anger, sadness and fear the lingers for years. A captivating story about Elaina set in 2024, how she and others fell prey and how their situation unfolded. Based on true events, author experience, and filled with key investment concepts + resources.
5 Stars/Amazon/Paperback/Kindle

There is not a week that goes by without a financial planner making the headlines for financial fraud, elder abuse, being sentenced to prison, fined or banned from the industry. In my opinion, every investor must stay informed by doing research on reliable websites. I’ve provided a short list of those websites in my bibliography in alphabetical order.

I wrote Fatal Funds to urge and guide the reader to think. My hope is that all investors take their money lives seriously. No one will care as much about your financial futures as you do. Embrace that, and begin your journey of learning about how to best invest your hard-earned dollars.

As investors, we must always conduct a thorough review of any one whom we are considering hiring as money managers. Strive to get complete answers from any financial planner you are considering hiring. Financial advice does not come cheap, and you deserve to know every detail of the advice being given to you, inside and out. Understand the myriads of financial credentials in the industry. Interview several candidates and dig into their background. Set a goal to understand the person behind the credential. Avoid pressure to buy on the spot. If your planner is secretive, omits details, or claims the inability to provide critical information, terminate your meeting and walk out. Living with the nagging feeling that something is wrong, is no way to spend your days and should never cause you sleepless nights.

FATAL FUNDS

Buckle up for a thriller about the financial shenanigans of an unscrupulous planner. A detailed account of financial planning, fee structures, cybersecurity, fake statements, why clients place their trust in thieves-all wrapped in an unforgettable story.

As an advocate for average investors, I wrote Fatal Funds as a cautionary tale that contains numerous examples of how the financial planning business works. Guard your money as if your life depended on it -- and that requires an intimate understanding of key terms, such as: Asset Allocation, Assets Under Management fee structures, expense ratios, requirements of authorities like SEC and FINRA, resources for filing a complaint and your relationship agreement. Due diligence is critical whether you hire a financial planner or not! 5 Stars Fatal Funds by Colleen K. MacFarlane
