Booklist: GOD'S BANKERS in top 10 business books for 2015

Very pleased to just learn that God's Bankers - A History of Money and Power at the Vatican is one of Booklists' "Top 10 Business Books for 2015"

"Posner sifted through thousands of government papers, court records, and private-company documents scattered around the world to piece together this remarkably taut exposé, which will captivate those who prefer their historical nonfiction spiked with real-life tales of murder, power, and intrigue."

Anniversary of the London murder of Italian Banker Robert Calvi

Today, June 18, is the anniversary of Robert Calvi’s murder in London.
Those who have started GOD’S BANKERS are well aware that the grisly morning discovery, 34 years ago today, of an Italian banker hanging from London’s Blackfriars Bridge, is the start of the tale down the rabbit hole into the world of Vatican finances. Calvi was one of Italy’s top bankers, a friend of the Pope, and one of the Vatican Bank’s key business partners. He was also the mastermind of a byzantine offshore Ponzi-style...

Pope Francis and the Vatican and limits of reform

The full event at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs regarding Pope Francis and the limits of reform in the Catholic Church.  It starts at the 8:20 mark after introductory remarks.  I am joined with Professor Garry Wills.  It's a very lively Q&A that touches on many aspects of whether or not the scandalous past in GOD'S BANKERS is truly over or not.....

The Dawn of God's Bankers

GOD'S BANKERS shows up in a lot of unlikely places for a book.  But it does seem to have a life of its own now, almost independent of its author and publisher.  Our ever creative friend Gabriel Dayan has evidently captured its first appearance :-)  Trisha Posner, would you expect anything less of a fellow Brit?

Is Pope Francis Reading GOD'S BANKERS?

Somehow the Pope seems to have learned the lessons of allowing the Vatican Bank to be too deeply  enmeshed in financial speculation.  He has personally rejected a proposal to allow the Vatican Bank to create an open-ended investment fund in one of Europe's favorite tax havens, Luxembourg.

GOD'S BANKERS takes us to a special night of ceremonies with Buddhist Holiness Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang

GOD’S BANKERS has been part of some pretty great events since its February 3 release, from hanging out with Bill Maher and Jon Stewart to SRO crowds at Books & Books and the JCC. But without question the most unique appearance is coming in two days on May 13. This Wednesday, the book takes us to a series of ceremonies in a Miami Beach synagogue with His Holiness Drikung, a spiritual brother to the Dalai Lama, and a reincarnation from a 1,000-year-old lineage of holy Tibetan...
