Where were you on 9/11?
Trisha and I were in Manhattan, which was home for us. We shared the disbelief and bewilderment with thousands of New Yorkers who flooded onto the streets after the terror attack. Our shock turned to despair when we tried giving blood in midtown, only to be told there was no need. New York, a city that is a regular cacophony of noise, was silent that day. Hundreds of survivors, many covered with the ash from the WTC, made the several mile walk to the Queensborough Bridge, a few...

"Al Fayed's Rage" - An Investigation into the Death of Princess Di by Gerald Posner (TALK - September 1999)
Al Fayed's Rage"The grieving father has some wild ideas about the deaths of Princess Di and Dodi. A bungled French probe will only fuel his fire."Premier issue TALK Magazine, September 1999By
Gerald Posner
Mohammed Al Fayed is sitting in a beige and green conference room in the fifth-floor executive offices of Harrods, the fabled London department store he bought in 1985 for a cool $670 million. It is but one of his many assets. The 66-year-old Egyptian native counts among his treasures a 14th...

Larry King in a NYT profile and a few personal recollections about his CNN show
A wonderful bit of nostalgia today in the NYT Sunday Magazine profile about the iconic broadcaster named Lawrence Harvey Zeiger who began his career as a temporary host at a Miami radio station in 1957 before going on to become Larry King for a quarter century at CNN.
The first time I was on "Larry King Live" was in 1986. He had only been at CNN for a year. And the night I appeared to discuss my "Mengele" bio, King was on vacation and his replacement was Dick Cavett. Not a bad swap.
And over th...

Gerald Posner take on some similarities between Donald Trump and Ross Perot
Even colleagues and friends forget sometimes that I wrote a biography on Ross Perot (Citizen Perot: His Life and Times) that was published when he ran for president in 1996. Trisha Posner and I spent considerable time interviewing Perot in Dallas, and I thought the book was an evenhanded bio, even though it covered both the good and bad of his life.
The NY Times review - titled "Ross Perot Will Not Like This Book" - concluded: "Mr. Posner, who started researching this book when most of the pre...

God's Bankers 'proves nonfiction is stranger than fiction'
Very gratifying that six months after publication, God's Bankers - A History of Money and Power at the Vatican continues to draw great coverage, this time from Elaine Charles and her Book Report Radio, this time as one of a handful of nonfiction books that prove 'truth is stranger than fiction'
"From Gerald Posner, a master chronicler of legal and financial misconduct, comes God’s Bankers, an eye-raising investigation nine years in the making. The book traces the political intrigue a...

Italians call off 33-year hunt for murderers of God's Banker, Roberto Calvi
Serendipity. Tomorrow Trisha Posner and I are off to Tampa to tape an interview with a British documentary crew filming a series of 12 controversial historical cases for Channel 5 in the UK. One of the shows is the enduring mystery around the death of Italian banker Roberto Calvi, found hanging under London's Blackfriars Bridge in 1982, and forever immortalized in Godfather III. Calvi's hanging corpse opens God's Bankers. Now, just a few days ago, the Italian prosecutors hav...

"The Hunt for Mengele's Suitcase"
What has proven the single most vexing matter I have ever investigated?
Read my article - "THE HUNT FOR MENGELE'S SUITCASE" - in the summer issue of Stay Thirsty Magazine
"For thirty-two years I have unsuccessfully tried to solve the riddle of what happened to a briefcase stuffed with medical notes and lab specimens belonging to Auschwitz's Angel of Death, Dr. Josef Mengele. There is no better illustration that no matter how great a journalist's resolve and commitment, some is...
