Words Out
Do Angels Exist?
It’s an age old question that many have written about, talked about, and given a great deal of thought to over the years.
Could your path be mapped out from the day you enter this world? We, as people, are presented with choices, always. Go left or go right. Take the elevator or the stairs. Sit or stand.
There is rarely ever only one option in our daily lives.
Do we have Guardians that influence our choices for a reason?
Are we happy to believe there is a higher power keeping things as balanced as we, as humans, like it to be?
Does that faith comfort us in an already mixed up world?
Brian is about to find out that not all things are a random act.
Billoughby – Lost Souls.
Billoughby is, for once, having a break from police work. Things are quiet in the village and that suits the Inspector just fine. With Grace, his beloved wife, helping out at the cottage of Cate and Adam in readiness for their move into a home of their own, the Inspector has a chance to rest and enjoy the countryside in it’s glorious full bloom.
Life, however, is not as peaceful as it appears. When news of David’s disappearance – the young boy from the Hall- reaches them, its all hands on deck in a bid to find him. Billoughby’s son Tom, has a lot of quick thinking and talking to do if he is to protect the reputation of his secret love, not to mention his own innocence. Will Tom stand his ground or, will he take advantage of the free tickets given to him by his brother?
David has no idea where he is, neither does he recognise the person that is keeping him here. He is cold and scared, not that he would admit it. Even when the small tears escape from his big bright eyes he scrapes them away with his now dirty sleeves in a defiant nature. He dreams about his soft warm bed back at the large Hall, he wonders if they will come to find him. In the dark nights he wakes in fear that they may have arranged this because of his cheekiness. Miss Mary always warned him that his pranks would get him into trouble one day. Did he go too far? Little does he know that the whole village has turned out in the search for him

Billoughby – The Long Shadows
This is the first in the series i am working on. The tales are set in the early 1900’s and are centred around an Inspector and his family.
Billoughby had been used to a quiet village life. That was, until a dark and sombre tale reared its ugly head. The Inspector was soon to discover the secrets of a war long since forgotten, a private war that still burnt deep into this small community. The year is 1910. The quiet rural village in Kent, England is rocked by the murder of Craven Stanhope. Discovered in the graveyard of the local parish church. Could it be that the Reverend just might hold the biggest clue to unravel this mystery? They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend, its true to say they weren’t one man’s best friend. Family histories entwined over years are brought to light in the race to catch a killer.

What works for you?
The modern world gives you all the mod cons to write with ease, historical, well that’s where the fun lies. You simply can’t put a character in a fast car, so how does he/she get from A to B? How long does it take for your horse to get you where you need to go? These are the things I love.
Then I get an idea in my head about something completely different and I run with it. If nobody ever reads them, I don’t mind. As long as I can get it out of my head and onto paper that’s the main thing. I’ve been lucky so far as the people who have read my books have really gotten onboard with the characters, I like that they have invested in these fictional beings. Writing, like most forms of creativity, should be fun and stimulating otherwise it would become a chore. I’ve got a million and one tales running around my mind and they’re none of them the same genre.
Angels
Angel’sJanuary 21, 2022D M Roberts
Hey there, and a very happy new year to all. I hope this year is going to be better for everyone, I have been working on a very different story over the past month or so. It involves Angel’s. We all have our own particular opinions on these mythical? beings. Personally I’m pro Angel, i can understand why some are anti and that’s cool with me. My interest is more in faith. As a species I often wonder if faith is still common place in the fast moving world in which we live. Does it mean that because a body doesn’t attend a holy place that they have no faith? To me, I prefer to believe that faith does not always need a special building to make it legit. Not that I am against places of worship, on the contrary, I find them incredibly relaxing and calming to be in. Some days I crave their solitude in a way that I cannot even begin to describe.

As people we like to imagine that there is a grown-up, if you like, that controls the order of things, it’s comforting to think there’s somebody higher up the chain that deals with the routines in our lives that enable us to function. We love reason, it’s in our nature. When terrible things happen we instantly look for answers, we cannot function on the ‘Just because’ elements and, even when the answers aren’t great ones, well we rather that than no answer at all. However difficult the reasoning behind something, it suits us better than no reasoning at all.
So, back to Angels. Are they simply here to give us comfort or would they play a much more intricate part in our time on this earth? Are our lives pre-determined down to the day we leave this place? Why do some go before others, why would one person live 2 life times longer than another? Who decides and more importantly, why? Brian is just your average man, living in an average town. His marriage has eneded abrubtly, leaving him with little in the way of finances or work. A day like any other is the beginning of a strange yet interesting future for Brian. A nagging event that he cannot seem to leave alone, regardless of the many warnings from those that know better. A chance mishap sets Brian on a discovery that will change his way of thinking forever. Azrael & Dumah have the unenviable task of making sure this human does not unweave a plan so intricately formed over milleniums. Will they succeed?
