Social isolation
How have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic?
As people we have to adapt whether we like it or not. Yes, like most I adapted to the rules and regulations that were put in place. Did I like this new way of living? No, I hated it. I often joke about being antisocial but I’m absolutely not, I love people. It’s true to say that I will talk to anyone even when I probably shouldn’t. I love listening to the stories of strangers and I love the company of friends. One thing I’ve noticed is that people have become so isolated, happier in their own little bubble, content to do all their interacting over the internet. It can’t be good for us, can it? Humans need humans, we’re naturally very social creatures. These are the changes brought about that I really struggle to adapt to.

I wake up, isn’t that enough?
What are your morning rituals? What does the first hour of your day look like?
Mornings are too full on for that time of the day. Coffee, shower, breakfast, cat, and so on

If I were in a romance novel…

.,. Enrique woke me with a soft intimate kiss coupled with the fresh smell of ground coffee, he slipped into bed beside me and whispered the magical words every woman longs to hear from her man. “Go back to sleep darling, I will do the housework today.”

You are who you are
Which aspects do you think makes a person unique?
Truth, in who they are and what they do or say. We are all unique in our own way, life would be pretty boring if we were all the same. There are exceptionally great people, there are particularly terrible people.

No 2 people are the same.

Legacy
If you could have something named after you, what would it be?
I imagine privately we would all like to leave a legacy whether it be your children, a company or our name living on for decades. That would take something pretty darn special or, terrible.

If I had to pin it down I would go for a butterfly, having a newly discovered Lepidoptera named after me would be awesome
A trip to Wye Valley
It’s surprisingly sunny today, the wind is still gripping on tight with it’s cold and biting fingers, that’s okay as the promise of warmth is around the corner. Today we went for a drive, as we often do, no particular destination in mind. It’s a mystery tour if you like.

The valley is a nature reserve, from way up here you can see for miles! The colours of spring are starting to come up in the greenness of the fields and the wild flowers that are bursting out everywhere.

There are so many beautiful places in England, just take a look around. Drive down that road when it looks like nobody else has, you’ll be amazed at what you find. The space is inspiring, giving you time to think or not.

Accidental humour
What makes you laugh?
Accidental humour makes me laugh, things that are amusing that maybe aren’t meant to be. Maybe it’s a nervous reaction? Old time comedians that are no longer pc, slapstick, Frank Baronet most definitely.

This not so tiny terror, he has now decided that everything should be hidden in shoes. I think my laughing weirds him out a little.
Innocent humour, dry humour as long as it’s funny I will laugh. Like most I find laughter to be the best medicine which hides a multitude of pain.

When you were five, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Well, this is interesting. Can I remember that far back? Do I know what I want to do still? I actually can’t remember when I was 5 let alone what I wanted to do when I grew up, if I ever did grow up. If you asked what did I want to do when I was 10 I might say perhaps a pilot or a ballet dancer or both.

As it is I have no idea

People
What’s something most people don’t understand?
People don’t understand people. We are not a one size fits all bunch of humans, we’re individuals, no 2 people are the same. It is true we have things in common, maybe agree on certain ideals but we are never the same.

Oh, and the off side rule!

Does it ever work?
How has technology changed your job?
When I was a younger person we did everything with the good old fashioned pen and paper, this was a writing implement containing ink, not dissimilar to the tool your local tattoo artist might use. You had to operate it yourself to put information from a person directly onto a bit of paper – for the younger people that weren’t fortunate enough to use this method – you wrote it out which had the added bonus of said notes sticking in your head.

Then along came technology… suddenly you didn’t have to remember anything at all, you didn’t even have to know how to spell, imagine that! All you had to do was get yourself in roughly the right area and you were away.

It got so good that many people didn’t have to go out to work, they simply did it from home, in their pyjamas, sitting on the sofa. Progress is a marvellous thing isn’t it. You can team chat, facechat, Skype to your heart’s content without ever having to see another human ever again! You can change how you look with a nifty little widget (I thought a widget was something they put in a can of Guinness in all honesty)

Yes, I would say technology has definitely changed the way some do their job. Has it changed mine? Not unless a robot that is waterproof turns up – watch this space.

What’s a secret skill or ability you have or wish you had?
Only joking, I doubt I could keep up with all of that bouncing around. If I had a secret skill I would keep it to myself otherwise what’s the point of it being secret?

Do I wish I had a secret skill? Not really, I imagine if I wanted a skill enough I would simply learn it, not to say I’d be good at it but surely that’s half the fun.
