As an author, I'm Vietnamese, born and raised, with a love for the written words and culture.

I have lived and studied in the US from 2012-2016 (Knox College Graduate in Environmental Studies with a minor in Economics), and been in Germany since 2017.

My favorite novel of all time is Journey to the West , I've read and reread it no less than 10 times and it could be said it's shaped the person and writer that I am. In fact, I think I learned to read simply so I could read Journey to the West .

I'm a fan Jin Yong, though not as huge of a fan of him like my best friend. I'm also a fan of Rick Riordan and Cassandra Clare, even though there are things from their books I don't necessary enjoy.

I also run a website/blog and two Facebook pages w

Happy Mother's Day? Not really sure how to title this rant...

I’ve never paid any attention to Mother’s Day – one, since it’s a Western Day that never fall on the same date every year, and two, since I’d much rather just write random stuff about my parents on any day I feel like, rather than limiting them to a few days a year. But since it’s been a while since I was able to write anything – due to life, school/Uni work, and other personal reasons, I’m about Read more of this blog post »

Nghịch Tử
“Someone once said man’s biggest fears could all be summed up with two words: “What if?” Sometimes, a vague possibility of the future was the most dreadful terror, far more threatening than any tangible threat.
Because that was when one’s imagination would turn against them.”
Nghịch Tử, Eyes

Nghịch Tử
“So, at that moment, even the naked eyes could see the spirit who’d been helping him, and he had no idea how to explain it to Vũ Thanh.

Thoughts shifted like electricity inside his head. From the bottom of his heart, he knew only one way of resolving this situation. Điền Mục whirled around, and jumped back in Vũ Thanh’s direction, while pointing at the looming figure covered in powder, speaking in a terrified but determined voice:

“Hey! Who are you? Why are you following me?”
Nghịch Tử, Eyes

Nghịch Tử
“So, um… why… did you tried so hard to save me anyway, even after… I made life harder for the both of us?”

Điền Mục’s reply took on a rare serious tone:

“Huh? Oh, because there is a superhero in all of us. We just need the guts to… eh, actually, speaking of ‘guts’…”

He suddenly started rummaging through his backpack, took out an enema pill, pushed it into Vũ Thanh’s palm, and grinned from ear to ear with excitement:

“Hey, so how did the food of the dead taste to you these past few days anyway? Was there any trace of earthworms or dirt in them? Did they taste like they were rotting or decaying in any way? I’ve always wondered but never got a taste myself!”

Việt H. Nguyễn So, after moving back to Vietnam, and no longer having access to my phone number while I was living in Germany, I kinda lost access to my Amazon account, which have all of my kindle ebooks.

I've also been busy with work, so that kinda explained why I've not been on goodreads for like nearly two years...

Việt H. Nguyễn I talk and write normal standard English, like I've lived in America before and people mistook me for someone who was born there all the time. So, it came as a surprise to me when readers and reviewers keep saying Eyes reads differently than what they're used to. It took me a while but I finally figured it out.

Turns out, I'm so in tune with both Vietnamese and English, and when I translated for Nghịch Tử, my mind pretty much synced with his, so my translation was basically translating the sentence structure along with all the hidden meaning, wordplay and everything else in between. And since he has a habit of using stuff that's exclusive to the Vietnamese language, I'm fairly sure I invented a few new ways of using English without even meaning to... It reads differently because my best friend doesn't freakin' write like a normal person...
