August 2021 Update~

Dear Readers,

Hard to believe we are already in the 8th month of the year! Wow, 2021 is going fast. But it’s an exciting month because The Cowboy’s Amish Haven will officially release on August 1, on the Harlequin website (it also releases wide on 8.24.21). I am so excited the book will be in reader’s hands! And I am thrilled with the 5 star reviews that have begun popping up on Goodreads.  I am dying to know what you all think of the book, so keep them coming!!

Been busy trying to get Her Amish Blessing (book 1, Humble Blessings) done. I fell a little behind in July because of roof issues. We had a lot of rain and a lot of leaks showed up. Hopefully, those are dealt with and I can get back to finishing the book this month. At least, I hope to. It just keeps getting longer and longer, so I will definitely be cutting it down to word count before I send it in to my editor.

As for riding the bikes…August is my accident month, so I am being extra careful. In 2017 I was in a motorcycle wreck. In 2020, I shattered my spleen in a freak accident. Sooo, for this year I am going to be extra careful and try and not go to the hospital for any more emergencies. I am DONE with that (knock wood, LOL).

Gotta get back to the book. Meanwhile, I hope you all like the fresh redesign of my website. I’m learning Elementor, and it’s been a bear to work with (grrrr.)

July 2021

Dear Readers,

I’m running a little behind with updates, as I have been busy working on Her Amish Blessing, the first book in my new Humble Blessing series. My goal is to get the book done around the beginning of August and get it to my editor by mid-month. The days are ticking away, so I haven’t been online much.

On another note, I am happy to report my first newsletter and ARC print giveaway went well, and there were plenty of entries. 10 lucky readers got a copy of The Cowboy’s Amish Haven 6 weeks before release. If you want to be in on future giveaways, be sure and subscribe to my newsletter for all the latest news.

That’s about all. Back the the book, and fingers crossed it will be done soon!

First look at the book!

Dear Readers,

Look what arrived in the mail.

Yep, looks like the book has gone to press!  I can’t believe it’s really going to be in the hands of readers soon!  Will be on sale August 1 on the Harlequin website!

June 2021 Update~

Dear Readers,

Lots of things going on behind the scenes lately. For those of you who haven’t heard, I did finally get a reply from my editor on the proposal package for Her Amish Blessing, and it was good news. A 2 book contract has been offered, which I have accepted. Needless to say, I was blown away. When I began my journey to become a Harlequin Love Inspired author, I never imagined I sell the first book, much less a couple more.

What is funny about Her Amish Blessing (title tentative), was that I wrote this book first and received a rewrite and resubmit from another Harlequin editor in late 2019, when I was with another agency. Unfortunately, I never could figure out how to fix the issues, and I set the project aside to write The Cowboy’s Amish Haven. Once that was done, I went back to Her Amish Blessing and gave it a few more tries. By then I had left the old agent and moved on to another, so it was basically back to square one for the book. However, the rewrites didn’t work and the idea didn’t go anywhere for many months. Pondering what to do with it, I gave the proposal one more rewrite and sent it in. I was truly staggered when my current agent called to say it had gotten an offer.

So…after almost 9 years of working at my own pace and not being under contract, I am again a writer with deadlines…which means I need to get to work!

Dear Readers,

Just popping in for a quick post to give y’all the latest news….

I finally got a reply to my proposal package, which I had sent to my editor back in March 2021. I am pleased to announce that Her Amish Blessing has placed with Harlequin Love Inspired and will be the first book in my “Humble Blessings” series (the first 2 books are soon to be under contract!). I am so excited as the book has had a long journey toward finding its home.

This will also bring quite a change in my life, as it is the first time since 2012 that I have been under deadlines with one of the major publishers. I’ve got to get back to writing on a schedule and sticking to it, rather than dallying around at my own pace!

Meanwhile, the countdown to the release of The Cowboy’s Amish Haven continues. I’m planning some giveaways; books, swag and other goodies will be up for release! So stay tuned…there is more to come!

April 2021

Dear Readers,

Hope this quick note finds you all healthy and happy as we move into spring (at last!). It’s windy here in New Mexico, so I haven’t gotten to do much riding, but I am hoping to get back on the motorcycle soon! Meantime, I did finish the proposal package for “Her Amish Blessing” and sent it off to my editor. Waiting on a decision. That’s always the hardest part (like the Tom Petty song says, right???). Hope to have some news to share soon. Meanwhile, that frees me up to begin working on  the second Texas Amish Brides book. This will be Rebecca’s story and readers will find out what happens after her fiance dumps her before the wedding!

More exciting news is that I have gotten a peek at the cover for The Cowboy’s Amish Haven and I can’t wait to share it. Not sure when the final will be approved, but I hope it’s soon. For me, the cover art is always the most exciting part of the process. The book is releasing late August 2021, and I am just waiting for the day when I can hold it in my hands and say “it’s real!’

Not much else to share. Just working my regular job and taking care of the animals. Since April is Easter month, here is a pic of my cute bunny, Becker! Join me on Instagram (pamdwrites) for more pics.
