December 2020 Update~

Dear Readers,

As I look back on my post from December 2019, I am struck by how much my life, and my writing, has changed. This time last year, I was so excited and hopeful. I had finished the proposal for Her Amish Blessing in August 2019. I was sure I was on my way to my first inspirational sale and felt this book would be my break. Oh, was I so wrong. While Her Amish Blessing garnered some interest and even a rewrite and resubmit from one editor, it did not sell. And, once the book had made the rounds, by March 2020 I had decided to put it away to revisit at a later time.

Needless to say, I was crushed.

Reluctantly, I began a new project, which was to become The Cowboy’s Amish Bride. Writing up a proposal and sample chapters, I sent it out. Fortunately, I found an agent, Tamela H Murray, of the Steve Laube Agency. I am happy to say Tamela has clicked for me. Not only has she taken the time to help me clarify my goals and writing process, she gets what it takes to be creative and understands the need to brainstorm a project or ten.  She also gets that not every hero is tall, dark and handsome and that heroines can be emotionally broken. As for the new book, it’s finished. I am cautiously optimistic it will find an editor who loves it as much as I do.

As I wait for a decision on this project, I am working on new books and trying not to think about the one that’s in circulation. Of course, I hope the manuscript will sell. If it doesn’t I’ll be disappointed, but it won’t deter me from writing another book. And another. And another. I have a lot of stories to tell. Stories I hope to share with readers someday soon.

So, as 2020 comes to a close, I’ll leave you all with the wish that your hopes and dreams for 2021 come true!

With all blessings,

Pamela

November 2020 Update~

Dear Readers,

I know it’s been quite awhile since I posted an update. There are a lot of reasons for that. As you all know, 2020 has not been a great year, given the Corona Virus panic, etc…

But… good news!  I finished The Cowboy’s Amish Bride. What’s more, it’s on an editor’s desk now. I have to thank her, too, for her patience with me. She had requested the book back in August. I was on track to deliver it in September when, a few days later, I had a very freak accident. It never should have caused so much damage–I shattered my spleen and almost bled to death internally. So had to be rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery and the whole long recovery. I couldn’t sit up at the computer and my mind was pretty much a haze. And just a month afterward, my brother passed away suddenly.

Time passed. Thankfully, I managed to get back up on my feet and get back to the computer.

So, now we wait. Hopefully, 2021 will be a lot better and I’ll get to celebrate the new year with a sale!

My fingers are crossed. 🙂

Blessings to all!

Pamela

April 2020 update~

Dear Readers,

I’m so excited. I just got my signed contracts back from Steve Laube, and that makes it official I am really and truly represented by Tamela Hancock Murray! Big who-hoo! I can’t believe it and am still pinching myself.

To get things going, I’ve re-written the first book in my Miller Family series, Her Amish Blessing. The book came close with an editor, but she had come concerns about the hero and heroine needing a better reason to connect. After going over her comments, I decided I couldn’t answer that question with the book in its current form. So… I threw it all out and started from page 1 with a new concept. Just finished last week and sent it off to Tamela. Now I wait and see what she has to say. I’m happy with the new version and feel it adds lots more tension to the plot than the previous version did.  I have my fingers crossed she likes it! Meanwhile, I will be working on a few new ideas and getting some more proposals ready for the pipeline. If one doesn’t sell, have another ready, right?

Hoping everyone is doing well and staying busy!

Take care and read on!

Pamela

March 2020 Update~

Dear Readers,

I have astonishing news to share.

I’ve been picked up by Tamela H. Murray, of the Steve Laube Agency! Needless to say, my fingers are still shaking as I write this. The Steve Laube agency, and Tamela herself, are well known in the business, and the fact I am going to be a client is a dream come true. Tamela will be representing my Amish and Inspirational fiction.

I am so grateful –and humbled– they are taking a chance on an unknown writer in the genre. I’ve had to pinch myself a few times to make sure I am awake.

So there you have it. Just when I thought all chances of finding my true path as a writer were shutting down, a door suddenly opens.

Hope you all will stay with me as I continue my journey toward publication as an Inspirational author.

Cheers,

Pamela
