The Cowboy’s Amish Haven

March 2021
Dear Readers,
It’s five days into March, so I am a little late with this update. To say things have been busy would be an understatement. First, copy edits for The Cowboy’s Amish Haven came in, and I was busy fixing and returning the file. And then the great Texas freeze hit. I was lucky enough to be on the edge of the state that wasn’t affected by the outages. And while we managed to keep heat and electric, I lost water for 4 days and a few pipes burst in the cold, so getting all that repaired took some time. All in all, I am grateful we got through it will as little damage as we did, though I will be quaking a bit when I open the propane bill.
As for February, it wasn’t the best month. In the wake of my accident, I find I am still struggling with depression. I just can’t seem to pull everything back to normal. I am hoping this phase will pass, as I should be working on a new book now that my Love Inspired Debut is heading toward the finish line and will be released in late August. Don’t get me wrong. I have a lot of blessings in my life and I am thankful every day I have a home, a job and the ability to get by in this world when others are struggling. I do my best to help where I can when I see the need. But sometimes I just can’t shake that dark cloud in my head and it often gets the better of me. I’m trying, though, and hope that March will bring brighter, warmer days as we head toward spring.
That’s about all to tell. Hoping you all stay well and warm. And keep on reading!
Cheers,
Pamela

February 2021
Dear Readers,
Uh, ho! Looks like the groundhog is predicting 6 more weeks of winter. But what better reason can a writer have for staying inside and working? Because it’s so cold outside. So looks like I’ll be staying inside and working on the next book in my Texas Amish Brides series. This is book 2, Rebecca’s story, and I have tentatively titled it “Taming His Amish Heart”. Here’s a little peek at the synopsis I’ve written up:
Taming His Amish Heart
After Rebecca Schroder’s fiancée leaves her standing at the altar, the Amish schoolmarm is heartbroken and humiliated.
When her friend, Frannie Buhler, needs help while recovering from surgery, Rebecca offers to lend a hand. Caring for Frannie’s three young children will help take her mind off her broken engagement.
However, Rebecca’s chance to enjoy a calm summer break is about to be turned upside down.
Frannie’s older brother, Wayne Zehr, is a big bear of a man. Gruff and unlikable, he’s a loner and not easy to get to know. Wayne captures and breaks wild mustangs for a living. Though he has the magic touch with horses, his manners rub Rebecca the wrong way. Soon the two are butting heads.
There’s more, but I don’t want to give away key plot points, so I’ll just leave it at that.
Meanwhile, I’m happy to announce my segment “I got ‘The Call’ “ is up now on the Harlequin site. Maybe you’ll all swing on over and read my interview on why I write romance.
That’s about all I’ve got to tell for now.
Off to work on the new book!
Many blessing to all!

January 2021
Dear Readers,
Exciting things have been going on behind the scenes. First of all, I signed my contract with Harlequin for The Cowboy’s Amish Bride, now retitled The Cowboy’s Amish Haven, The book is scheduled for Sept 2021, and I have turned over the rewrites, so off the manuscript goes, and I won’t see it again until copy edits come in. I’ve also filled out the cover art forms and I can’t wait to see what the art department at Harlequin comes up with for this book. So excited! Cover art is always my favorite part of the process. Meanwhile, I’m working out plots for a few other books I have in mind, so the muse has been working overtime to get something solid down on paper. As always, starting a book is the hardest part, as I haven’t gotten to know my characters and their stories yet. But, that always sorts itself out, and the story will come together in time.
Aside from books, I’m happy to report that our dry winter has been broken and we have some snow! Our area is in desperate drought, and the water is much needed, so if you have rain or snow, send it our way! We surely could use a good foot or two of rain. Would be nice to see a green and growing spring this year instead of the dead dry tumble weeds of the Texas/New Mexico plains.
Not much more to tell, so back to work. I’ll pop in with updates on the book as I have them.
Keep on reading!

Happy New Year!
Dear Readers,
Well, it looks like 2020 is over, and 2021 is upon us! I’m so excited! For Christmas, I got the best present ever. The Cowboy’s Amish Bride sold to Harlequin for the Love Inspired imprint and I am officially a Harlequin author. This is a dream I’ve been chasing for many years now, and to finally have it happen is just wonderful. I can’t wait to go through the process that will take it from raw manuscript to finished book. I am told the publication date is September 2021, so that’s not far off now, only 8 little months. I can get through that, right? Can’t wait to see the cover and my name on it!
Meanwhile, I’ve gotta get to work on another books. Ideas are going through my mind now…
Happy New Year!
Keep on reading!

Happy Holidays!
Dear Readers,
Wishing you and your family a joyous and peaceful holiday season! Selling The Cowboy’s Amish Bride has been a dream come true, and the book will be making its debut in Fall 2021. I’m still pinching myself and can’t believe I will be a Harlequin Love Inspired author.
I’ll be back next year, hopefully with some great news to share about my path to publication as an inspy writer (fingers crossed). Meanwhile, I got a deadline, so I gotta go and work on that book! Rewrites are the hardest part…
Peace and love to all~

I got “The Call”!
Dear Readers,
The day has come and I GOT THE CALL! Yes. It has happened. THE CALL. The one where you are struck speechless because your agent is telling you the editor likes the manuscript and made an offer!!!
The Cowboy’s Amish Bride has sold! I still can’t believe I’ll be joining the @HarlequinBooks team as a @LoveInspiredBks author!
This has been a dream of mine that I’ve chased for nigh on 30 years. I still can’t believe the news… Pinching myself over and over to make sure I’m awake.
More details to come as I get them!
Blessings to all!
Pamela
