10/13/2025 Snippet, FOR THE DEAD TRAVEL FAST.

There needs to be more action. The problem is, all of these people are too powerful to assassinate, except at each others’ hands. Must ponder.

The rest of the meeting was as dull as it could be while losing a war. Wildfire was an improvement on the previous idiot on the Throne, but Morrigan didn’t want an improvement. She wanted somebody who would fight.

It made dealing with Goreheart particularly annoying, because he had a much loftier opinion of his strategic abilities than Morrigan did. Irritatingly, that meant he legitimately thought he could talk to her as a rough equal, as well as her superior. “I understand you need more assets, Morrigan,” he told her after the meeting broke up. “But the southern front needs them more.”

“What we need is to get more use out of the assets we have,” Morrigan told him, “Heir to the Dominion. Hostages aren’t enough to keep the Circles on the front lines steady. They have to fight to the death anyway, so why bother threatening them with it?”

Oh, hey, a successful Starship splashdown.

No biggie. Just another day at SpaceX, putting up rocket ships and landing them under their own power. They should start trying to catch Starship, though. Maybe start carrying some people. I wanna see somebody on the moon before I hit retirement age.

Splashdown confirmed! Congratulations to the entire SpaceX team on an exciting eleventh flight test of Starship! pic.twitter.com/llcIvNZFfg

…Yeah, I know. How quickly the paradigm shifts.

Happy Columbus Day!

Or, as we say around here, Happy My Kids Go To School And My Wife Stays Home Day! …Well, no, we just call it ‘Columbus Day.’ Tonight, there will be meatloaf. Not for any particular reason, except that the weather’s getting cooler and my wife picked up a six-pack of Oktoberfest for us to consume. We can get pretty low-key around here.

The DEATH BY LIGHTNING Netflix trailer.

I’m interested in DEATH BY LIGHTNING – the story of the assassination of James Garfield – primarily because Nick Offerman will be playing Chester A. Arthur. Arthur fascinates me, from a historical perspective. Seldom have we had a President who exceeded expectations to the degree that he did.

That being said, the show is probably gonna be ahistorical and weird.

“Trust The Process?” …Well, the people in that universe might be a little too trusting of The Process. Then again, they literally have no choice.

The Meta-Squared WONDER MAN series trailer.

…My God. Wonder Man is a Marvel/Disney TV series about Hollywood and superhero fatigue. Which is set in the MCU. I genuinely respect the audacity.

No, seriously, I’m considering this one now.

Book of the Week: The Hunt For Red October.

It is a little disconcerting to realize that Tom Clancy’s The Hunt For Red October is old enough to run for President. I read this book just before the movie came out, and I was instantly hooked. I was also pleasantly shocked at how well the movie followed the book, which is… not something that consistently happened with Tom Clancy novels. If you haven’t read it yet, go for it.
