In the Mail: Swords of the Serpentine!

I’m looking forward to running this at a convention at some point. Dunno when it’ll be, but I didn’t buy Swords of the Serpentine just for looking at.

Finally! Looking good, @KevinKulp, @multiplexer. pic.twitter.com/SBBiPJmg6O

Arrgh. [UPDATED]

It’s that last five cents. Although technically the sales are from June 2020 to July 2022, which makes the numbers a bit better yet.

Tweet of the Day, Don’t Read This If You Have Asthma edition.

The Internet, like most communications medium, inspires art that is optimized for it. This is an example of one. It is perfect for what it is, and… enjoy.

Snippet, 2084.

Just for the record: I do in fact want to make this feel kind of alarming.

“So he’ll try to kill himself?” Alex said. “That’s what you were worried about.”

Miles shook his head. “I’d worry about it more if he was just awoken and confused. But here? He’s got his self-destructive impulses fighting his hunger — and the poor sod’s holding a lovely bunch of grapes.” He beamed. “And there we go! Our lad here is gobbling the food. Probably thinking that somebody might come soon, so he might as well eat whatever he can. Not that we’ll intervene until it looks like he might eat himself sick.”

“And then what?” Alex looked unhappy. “Beat him? No, wait, this isn’t that kind of torture, isn’t it? You’re not actually inflicting physical pain on him.”

“Oh, absolutely not. That would be cruel of us, not to mention pointless. The Invaders were all stick, no carrot; this poor bastard would be ready for that. What we’re doing here is, we use the carrot as a stick. It’s unexpected, and it confuses them, and we need that confusion to get into their heads and break what’s really wrong with them.” Miles shrugged. “But it’s going to take some time. I can’t give you lot results today. But I can show you that we’ll get some, at some point.”

RIP, Eric Flint.

Just saw this on Facebook; Eric Flint was 75. I hadn’t even realized he was sick. My sincere prayers for him, and my condolences to his family and loved ones.

PS: Being the unrepentant (and deeply patriotic) old-school Lefty that he was, Flint might say, in response to his own death: Don’t waste any time mourning. Write!

Patreon Microfiction: “Red Wedding Reception.”

Yes, Morgan Barod’s going back to Red Bank, for a “Red Wedding Reception.” With a promotion, no less (that’s not necessarily great news, considering the size of his realm’s armed forces). I just don’t know when I’m going to have time to write about all of those adventures.
