Doing a panel at Fright Reads!
Details aren’t finalized, yet, but I’ll be one of four people on a panel at Fright Reads on October 1st (12-6 PM Benfield Sportscenter, Millersville, MD). We’ll be talking about what it’s like to publish; I don’t know if the others are going to be concentrating on self-publishing, but that’s what I’m doing to be talking about. I’ve been doing it for a couple of years at this point, so I have some idea on how the whole thing goes.

PRESUMED TRIGGER INCIDENT: Perusal of Amalgamation deck plans for longer than the recommended two hour period.
NARRATIVE SUMMARY: I was on the alien ship, and using the map to move my way to the aliens. The farther I went, the stranger the ship became. The gravity increased steadily, until it was causing me pain and making my nose bleed. As I walked through the halls, I could hear people — both human and alien — shouting nonsense words in the closed rooms. Sometimes things would appear in the corner of my eyes, but when I turned to look, they were gone.
Eventually I reached the room which I knew the aliens were in. They started calling to me from inside the room, using the Song of Welcome from First Contact. But they kept singing the song over and over again, louder and faster, and it stopped being words and started being a screaming whine of angry, stinging insects, and then the door started shuddering as if a million things inside were trying to burst out.
At that point I woke up, and immediately administered emergency mental trauma care. The analyzer detected no signs of incipient Sudden-Onset Violent Psychosis.

The @HPLHS is doing a BOGO sale on E-DARTs for HPL’s birthday.
Yeah, that’s a lot of acronyms. Unpacked: the HP Lovecraft Historical Society is doing a buy-one, get-one free sale on the electronic versions of its Dark Adventure Radio Theater shows. This is a good deal, even if I’m not going to do it: I already have them all (well, except for Masks of Nylarathotep, because if I had $250 to spare I’d spend it on publishing more short stories) in physical form, complete with the binders and everything. But if you just want the DARTs and don’t care about the props, this is an excellent deal. They’re very good radio plays.
