Taurus Tea Time

Energetic Alignment: Abundance/Money, Love, Healing/Longevity, Insight & Wisdom

Warm your spirit this Samhain night, with this warming, indulgent sweet tea. With clarifying rosemary, loving rose, manifestive vanilla, wise and magical apple, and grounding harvest bourbon, this tea will help provide insight and ground your energy, while also catering to those Venusian Taurus energies. This is the perfect libation for those looking to rest, do some selfcare, and insight work on this magical lunar night, while still bringing in the stability and abundant energies Taurus has to offer. You can also craft a rosemary and rose bath to correspond and magnify whatever intentions you set with this libation.

You can check out a whiskey sour version of this cocktail over at the Taurus moon Whiskey Sour blog.

For Simple Sipping: Cocktail making can be easy! Just swap ingredients or remove as you see fit. Use the material here & the ingredient reference list towards the bottom to help guide you in your own unique concoction, and get creative in swapping ingredients you may not have.

Variations

Vanilla Simple Syrup: Vanilla simple syrup, is simply simple syrup (1:1 water to sugar) infused with vanilla bean or extract. I have the recipe I use in my book, but you can find others online. Don’t let the word syrup daunt you! It is relatively quick and easy to make, just warm the water, pour it over a small amount of vanilla bean and let it steep like a tea, then add an equal amount of sugar. Additionally, you can use or reference the syrup I use in the libra new moon cocktail and mocktail.

Apple Brandy: Don’t have apple brandy? No worries! You can use sour apple schnapps if you happen to have that from making The Witch’s Wand, or even just forego the apple brandy, add fresh apple pieces, and do an entire 1.5 ounces of bourbon instead of just 3/4 ounces.Dried Rose: if you don’t have dried rose petals, you can try using a pre-made rose tea, or perhaps even a splash of food grade rosewater.

Optional Additions: I haven’t tried it, but blackberries, either fresh, as dried, or as liqueur are also an aligned ingredient here for this lunar magic, and I imagine would be a particularly delicious add here.Cinnamon would compliment the flavor, as well as add more love/lust, powerful manifestation and spiritual energies.

Black Sun

Samhain is a time when we begin to turn our intentions inward, and focus on making the home a warm and cozy space. For those looking to do some protective workings around this time, or to add a bit of heat and rejuvenation to their lives, this spicy blood orange margarita should do just the trick.

This rejuvenating, juicy, spicy margarita is sure to put some zest in your step this Samhain. With a spicy, yet not-overwhelming ghost pepper tequila for protection and repelling negativity, hex-breaking and loving lime, and seasonal, spooky blood orange for purification, energy, and mental clarity, this is just the seasonal spicy spirit for protection, purification and passion.

For this concoction, I used Ghost tequila which is a beautiful tequila that add the heat and magic of ghost pepper in palatable way. However, remember you can improvise the ingredients! If you don’t have access to this tequila, try using normal silver/blanco tequila and some slices of a fresh hot pepper. If you don’t have access to blood orange, you can try blood orange soda, or even orange and pomegranate juice, or even pomegranate liqueur to get the deep red color and keep the magical properties.

For Simple, Easy Sipping: Cocktail making can be easy! Just swap ingredients or remove as you see fit. Use the material here & the ingredient reference list towards the bottom to help guide you in your own unique concoction, and get creative in swapping ingredients you may not have. I’ll offer suggestions along the way, so don’t get daunted if you don’t have something! Just as in life, there are limitless possibilities.

Witch’s Wand

Channel your magic with this tangy tantalizing Apple-tini variation. Drawing upon inspiration from a witch’s wand and powerful witching herbs, this potent potion is a bewitching brew for magic, wishes, healing, and paying homage to ones witch lineage and path. Never has magic been so delicious!

This sassy, eclectic green libation combines the power of various woods often used in wands, in liquid libation form. Oak is one such ingredient, and luckily tasty bourbon is infused with its magic of protection, wishes, healing, and power. Another wood often used in wand crafting, walnut, enhances mental acuity and powers, assists wishes, and protection. And of course, the electric witchy green color comes from sour apple liqueur, adding in the symbolism of the pentagram, of divination, love, and a witch’s wisdom. Manifestive vanilla, bewitching rose, and purifying lunar-associated lemon top it all off for a most magically delicious concoction.

As always, if you don’t have an ingredient – don’t fret! Make this recipe work for you. There are tons of minimalistic appletini recipes online. You can use normal simple syrup instead of vanilla, forego the rose and walnut, or even try apple brandy instead of bourbon and sour apple liqueur. Do what works best for YOU! That’s the beauty of witchcraft.

Coffee Ouja Martini

Samhain is a time many seek communication with the dead – why not bridge the two worlds through some spirited libations? This Ouja-inspired, anise-kissed coffee martini is filled with potent energies for psychic abilities, divination, and grounding. (Don’t worry if you don’t like anise, you can always swap it out!).

Besides being a morning favorite for energy and mental acuity, coffee has been used in divination throughout the centuries. A hint of optional walnut bitters to ground the flavor, enticing vanilla simple, and the potent power of juniper-based gin, this is packed potion for all things (protected) psychic divination.

I personally used Hendrick’s Orbium gin, which is pronounced in its additional flavors, but has extra psychic associations as a result. However, I would not suggest this for non-gin drinkers. Alternatively, try vodka, vanilla vodka, or infuse a piece of vanilla bean in a small amount of vodka overnight.

For Simple, Easy Sipping: Cocktail making can be easy! Just swap ingredients or remove as you see fit. Use the material here & the ingredient reference list towards the bottom to help guide you in your own unique concoction, and get creative in swapping ingredients you may not have. Coffee Ouja Martini

Inspire your psychic communication this Samhain & Halloween, with this Ouja-inspired, anise-kissed coffee martini, filled with potent energies for psychic abilities, divination, and grounding.

Ingredients1/8-1/4 ounce absinthe (skip if you are not a fan, or try anisette)2 ounces gin (swap for another alcohol if you are not a fan)4 dashes/drops walnut bitters1 ounce coffee liqueur1/2 ounce vanilla simple (place a small amout of vanilla to infuse in the simple syrup, or look up recipes online that use vanilla extract to craft this syrup)1/2-3/4 ounce coffeeoptional dash of ground cinnamon
InstructionsRinse coupe glass with small amount of absinthe. Set aside. In a cocktail shaker, add all ingredients. Add ice, and shake. Spill out your absinthe rinse, as much as possible so there is just a hint, as the anise flavor can get overwhelming. Strain your concoction into the glass, and adorn with 3 coffee beans and an optional anise star

Magical Enhacement

Use the coffee beans for divination afterwards, on a pendulum board of some kind. Or craft your own divination map by drawing on a piece of paper various symbols to represent aspects of life, and see where the coffee beans land to divine their meaning. You can also place the anise star under your pillow for psychic dreaming, or use left over coffee grounds from the coffee for a magical candle dressing

Pumpkin Cream Martini

What’s the season without a little pumpkin spice? Entertain and entice your “basic” witch senses with this creamy, sweet pumpkin spice martini. Now, I already have a pumpkin dessert cocktail, called Prosperous Pumpkin, in my book WitchCraft Cocktails that I LOVE. However, for those who don’t have my book, I thought this would be a nice alternative as well as present a totally different flavor profile. With cinnamon schnapps (especially if you use Goldschlager, which has actual gold flecks in it), your choice of amaretto or hazelnut liqueur, and an optional hint of vanilla, this creamy concoction will bring in the abundance, some spirit-ual alignment and soothe your mind.

For this concoction, I used this recipe to make a pumpkin spice syrup. And if you do make this, you have the pumpkin puree on hand to put in an optional 1/4 ounce straight into the drink for a thicker texture, should you choose. Additionally, companies such as Proof Spirits offer premade syrups. Regardless, it’s worth the make as you can reuse the syrup in your daily homemade coffee or latte.

Energetic Alignment: Money, Spirituality, Peace

Pumpkin Cream Martini

Revel in the fall flavors of vanilla, pumpkin, almond, and cinnamon in this creamy concoction for abundance, spirit-ual alignment, and some peace of mind.

Ingredients1-1.5 ounces vanilla vodka (swap with normal vodka, or simply let a vanilla bean sit in a bit of vodka for 24 hours and use that)1/2 ounce almond or hazelnut liqueur1/2 ounce pumpkin spice syrup1/4 ounce half and half1/4 ounce cinnamon liqueur (or sprinkle in ground cinnamon instead)
Instructions(For a cinnamon rim, if desired) Sprinkle some cinnamon into a plate, and some maple syrup or other thick syrup onto another. Dip the outside lip of a martini glass in this syrup, and then swiftly dip in cinnamon all the way around for an enticing cocktail rim.Set your martini glass aside. In a shaker, place all ingredients. Add ice and shake, thinking of these powerful ingredients stirring together, activating, and bring in the moolah, or aligning you to abundant flow of the universe. Strain into your glass, and adorn with a magical cinnamon stick if desired.

Magical Enhancement

Use the left over cinnamon from making the rim, and the cinnamon stick in your prosperity magic afterwards. You can keep the stick on you to invite in success, leave it on your altar, or use it as a mini wand for directing prosperity. You can use the ground, powdered cinnamon (just a tiny bit) as a candle dressing to invite in more prosperity and abundance. Be sure to reflect on the alignment of imbibing your magical concoction, and the correspondence of these additions in your “outside” world magical workings, symbolic of both internal and external change.

Hallow’s Eve Happy Hour

Samhain and halloween is right around the corner, and witch or not – we could all use a little magic this year. I’ve crafted 4 seasonal, magically inspired beverages (in addition to the ones in my book WitchCraft Cocktails), to assist your celebrations, whatever they may be. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t celebrate at home with a delicious adult treat!

A Bit About Samhain

Samhain is the celebration of the third and final harvest of the year, a significant marker of descending into the colder winter months, and all life retreating inside. Culture’s across the northern hemisphere celebrate and worship the dead around October 31st, as they give thanks for the bounty and prepare for the harsher months. Honoring one’s ancestry can be a complicated concept for some – but fret not, this can also be a great time for honoring your chosen family and friends, as well as lineages, paths and archetypes you may have chosen to walk and embody in this lifetime. Or perhaps you can use the time to even honoring future generations, or the ancestry of the earth herself. In giving thanks at this time, you can really delve into healing generational patterns, if you allow yourself to dip deep enough.

Halloween/Samhain coincides with a blue moon this year – a rare synchronicity. This moon is also in Taurus, and we have a mercury retrograde, as well as other astrological factors to account for. So, to be honest – you have a myriad of energies to work with. Particularly, if you feel triggered at this time and notice yourself dipping into unhealthy habits, with these energies, it may be a good time to look into some generational patterns, then reflect and heal them. The magic and potency of this moon also allows for powerful magical work. This is by no means an exhaustive description – more details and a truer description will follow in my Taurus Full Moon Blog, to be posted late today.

If you have my book WitchCraft Cocktails, there are certain drinks I would highly recommend:

Persephone’s Descent for a delicious pomegranate margarita variation, for wisdom, divination, and introspection upon our shadow selves and we descent into the darker months of the year

The Reaper for a mulled vine variation specifically aligned to honor the dead and for psychic ability.

Although I include a pumpkin martini here, my favorite pumpkin drink is the Prosperous Pumpkin in the book, which makes the perfect fall desert beverage for abundance and healing

The Witch’s Cauldron is a great choice, individually, or preached and served as a punch for blessings to all who enjoy it (& can be served with a bit of dry ice perhaps – just look up proper cautions around dry ice and do not touch it or drink the concoction until it is done smoking. Again – research).

And many more! But here are four new drinks I crafted, just for you

Luna in Libra

On Friday October 16, we have brief remiss from Mercury Retrograde with some lovely solar and lunar libra energy. The quiet amongst a seeming storm of astrological energies, the New Moon in Libra will help provide a moment of calm to rebalance and center. Use this time for peace-making and finding balance in your life. Additionally, since Mercury Retrograde tends to dig up old wounds that have unconsciously been affecting us, this may be a key time to plant seeds for a new beginning on your healing journey, to end repeating patterns in your life.

Mercury Retrograde often invites us to “slow down.” As someone who lives in the fast-paced Bay Area, this terminology always bothered me, but I find it more so to be an invitation to check in with the balance in your life, to heal old wounds that have caused sometimes-unconscious repeating patterns, to revisit old projects and ideas. With the new moon in Libra bringing in that extra element of balance, this lunar energy could be an especially potent time to reflect, and to ultimately create a new vision of balance and equilibrium in your life, whether that be in relationships, self care, love, or just the everyday flow of life between work, art, and love.

Magical Additions

As a crystal healing practitioner, I can’t help myself when it comes to crystals and working with energy! Here are some crystals/stones I recommend for further utilizing the Libra sun energies described in this blog. To layer on the energetic & magical frequencies, you can meditate with your given crystal, keep it on you as make and/or sip the drink, as well as attune the crystal to the drink by visualizing both the drink and crystal resonating together with your intention, as you hold the crystal against the outside of the glass. (Don’t put your crystal in any of the cocktail components unless you know for sure it is not toxic). Here are their energies and why I suggest them (as it relates to the Libra New Moon).

Jade is a powerful healer, often used to increase the speed of the healing process. Associated with the heart chakra, it helps to open one to life’s abundance and transmute any blockages to prosperity. Wear for good luck, to balance your energies, or to aid in any healing. Particularly for this New Moon, Jade would be a wonderful choice to bring harmony and balance into various areas of your life: health/wellbeing, energy, prosperity, and relationships

Lapis Lazuli (Third Eye & Throat Chakras) is a great ally for psychic development and clear communication. This stone will help you access other realms and communicate with your guides. Lapis is a great stone for journeying for this reason, and can also be used to journey within oneself to uncover and heal karmic cycles. Especially amidst the mercury retrograde energies, this stone can help promote communication, internal alignment and balance, and calm.

Pink Calcite (Heart Chakra) connects to Divine Love and helps to activate the heart chakra, to clear blockages with emotional expression. Pink Calcite inspires wholeness and empathy, and will help provide emotional support as patterns are cleared away.

For other stones that may be good to work with for this time, check out the Libra in Love blog. There, I talk about amethyst, pink common opal, and kunzite that will also make wonderful choice for crystalline energy additions to your lunar workings.

Ingredient Alignment

Magical correspondences of ingredients, as they align to this lunar occasion!

Apple (Venus, Water) – Love, Healing, Longevity, Fertility, Wisdom, Magic

Grape (Moon, Water) – Fertility, Garden Magic, Mental Powers, Money

Lemon (Moon, Water) – Longevity, Purification, Love, Friendship, Joy

Orange (Sun, Fire) – Love, Divination, Luck, Money, beauty (internal, unless blossom), Purification

Libra in Love

Ruled by vivacious Venus, Libra is a sign of the arts and romance. A true romantic with a taste for the finer things in life, Libra can invite us to indulge. And since many of us have been inside for much of the last few months, this might just be the perfect time to indulge in some good old-fashioned self care – to refresh your look, enjoy some music, and luxuriate in the little ways you can! But, Libra isn’t just a Venusian sign – as its symbol of the scales might hint, it is a sign of balance. At times, this can mean indecision, but it also makes the Sun in Libra key time to bring balance into your life. How can you be more balanced on a day to day basis? How can you bring more balance into your relationships, and into your self care?

If you’re looking to luxuriate in a little lovely Libra energy, I’ve crafted just the aligned, Libra-associated cocktail and mocktail drink duo! Additionally, you can make The Scales drink from my book WitchCraft Cocktails.

Apricot is often used for love spells and potions, thyme for cleansing and inspiring two sided love, and similarly solar-associated lime also corresponds to energies of hex-breaking and love.  With a floral finish of rose water to top these magical flavors off, this concoction is bubbling with the energies of love, wellbeing, and psychic powers in this Bellini twist.

Amethyst is a key libra-associated stone, with its deep purple luxurious hues and calming vibes. Amethyst connects one to the Divine and to spiritual wisdom. It is a great stone for developing intuitive abilities while also providing auric protection. A wonderful stone for stress relief, amethyst helps break addictive patterns and also invites peaceful rest.

A throat chakra and heart chakra stone, aquamarine is a great stone for communicating our inner most truths, and also for communicating with Spirit. Like the calming, rhythmic waves, aquarmarine promotes calm thoughts and conquering of phobias. It’s also a wonderful stone for intellectual pursuits. If you are looking to use Libra season as a time to reflect to your inner truth and seek balance, Aquamarine can help invite the peace, clarity, and psychic wisdom needed to see ahead.

Green Aventurine (Heart Chakra) is wonderful stone to use for prosperity, to bring in new opportunities, and also to clear other people’s energy out of your aura and emotional body. It helps one release attachment to outcomes, inviting in optimism and joy, as well as prosperity, good luck, and vitality. This is a great choice for those looking to open their heart chakra for love, positivity, but also abundance under the Libra sun.

Kunzite (Heart Chakra) is a high vibrational stone that connects the wearer to the unconditional love of the universe. This connection invites a loving, meditation-like state that produces positive, loving thoughts and actions. By inspiring self-acceptance, this stone can help to center the user and support free self-expression and creativity. Kunzite is also a clearing stone for this reason, helping to remove energy blockages.

Rose Quartz (Heart Chakra) connects you with universal love. This beautiful stone is about loving oneself and recognizing the beauty within and all around. Rose quartz invites peace, comfort, and gratefulness! If looking to use Libra season as a time to reconnect to some self-love, Rose Quartz is an excellent choice!

Pink Opal (Heart Chakra) aids in self acceptance and love. It is particularly powerful in breaking energetic patterns, and releasing them to allow more joy into your life. If you feel like you’ve been repeating patterns, especially in your love life, pink opal will aid you in transmuting and overcoming them!

Additionally, Lapis Lazuli and Jade are wonderful choices for this time. But I will be covering those in the Libra New Moon blog!

Aries Full Moon Mule

About the Full Moon

Greeting our entrance into October, the month “of the dead” and the final harvest, is none other than a fiery full moon in Aries. A sign of passion, courage, competition, and leadership, a full moon in this sign can warrant a lot of emotions, especially given other astrological alignments. While emotions can be fiery and short-tempered, this energy can be wonderful if intentionally directed and focused. The Aries full moon can magically be a great time for efforts of courage, competition, and accomplishing tasks. Heading into the final harvest and the colder months of the year, this is a great opportunity to use this burst of energy to accomplish tasks and bring lingering events to a close.

I’ve prepared the following cocktail, using correspondences of both Aries and the moon, and their energetic themes. However, if you happen to have my book WitchCraft Cocktails, I have two additional cocktail suggestions from the book, so that you have plenty of lovely libations to choose from!

Wine Moon Cocktail – While designed for the September full moon, the Aries full moon happens close enough on the cusp of October and September that this cocktail can still be a relevant choice. It features a lot of related harvest offerings, and certain ingredients like clove and lemon draw on the moon and Aries energy. A wonderful choice for those still embracing the turn of the season, to invoke insight, abundance, and spirituality.

Blood Moon Margarita – If you are eager to welcome the Samhain season and lineage worship, the Blood Moon Margarita is also a great choice, but can also be saved for the full moon at the end of October on Samhain night. With mezcal, pomegranate, and blood orange, this is a concoction for transformation, divination, and death.

Bonus Points – Get creative and mix the two! If you like some of the elements of the either you can get innovative and slip some blood orange juice or pomegranate into the Wine Moon Cocktail and get the best of both words. Be sure to tag me in your creations! I love to see what you all create.

For Simple Sipping: Cocktail making can be easy! Just swap ingredients or remove as you see fit. Use the material here & the ingredient reference list towards the bottom to help guide you in your own unique concoction, and get creative in swapping ingredients you may not have.

Aries Moon Mule

Inspired Energies: Money, Power, Love, Healing

Imbibe the invigorating, passionate energies of the Aries full moon with this spiced, juicy, gin and lemon Moscow mule. With spices like clove and ginger for that flaming Aries passion and action, yet tempered with lunar lemon and grounding gin, this cocktail is sure to help ground and direct this lunar energy for success, passion, and healing. A bit of lunar- and Aries-associated blackberry adds in extra energies of healing, abundance, protection, and a bit of lust to this concoction. Meanwhile, juniper-based gin makes up the base for this cocktail as it is associated with both the moon and Aries as well, and helps to ground out the more fiery Aries vibes, while enhancing energies of purification, psychic abilties, and love. For this Moscow mule variation, I used lemon instead of lime, since lemon is associated with the moon and is great for longevity, love, and purification, but feel free to use lime for hex-breaking and more “fire element” energies if you are looking to really break through some big barriers with that Aries determination.

For this cocktail, I used a syrup from the end of this blog. Feel free to improvise as desired! Plus, you can try adding a dash of cinnamon for extra spice, motivation, and movement, or a float (1/4 – 1/2 ounce) of allspice liqueur or ginger liqueur to your cocktail, some extra Aries fire!

I personally used New Amsterdam’s Gin for this concoction. But always feel free to try switching out the base alcohol for one you prefer, or feel more called to!

Servings 1 person

Ingredients2 medium blackberries1 sprig rosemary1/2 ounce Aries Syrup (see below)1 ounce lemon (or lime for hex-breaking)1.5 ounces gin2 ounce ginger beer (amount will vary based on the type of ginger beer you have! Taste as you go. I personally use Q Ginger Beer)
Instructions(As a moscow mule, this cocktail can be built in a glass, then stirred. However, if you don't like blackberry bits in your cocktail, then shake all ingredients (minus ginger beer) in a cocktail shaker before straining and topping with the ginger beer). In the bottom of a copper mule mug or highball, add blackberries, rosemary, and syrup. Muddle the ingredients, visualzing yourself overcoming obstacles and leaping to success, or invigorated with passion and motivation. Add in lemon, gin, then add ice and top with ginger beer. Stir and add in magical garnish of your choice, like a flamed lemon peel, or rosemary sprig. Sip as you attune to and contemplate the Aries Full Moon energy.

Aries Moon Mule Mocktail

I firmly believe you can turn many cocktails (given they aren’t purely alcohol) into a mocktail! And with ginger beer, it is super easy to do so with this concoction. See below how I vary ingredient ratios to make this into a magical mocktail (non-alcoholic cocktail).

A mocktail Aries Moon Mule to help you attune to the lunar energy.

Prep Time 5 minutes

Servings 1 person

Ingredients2 medium blackberries1 sprig rosemary1 ounce Aries Syrup (see below)1 ounce lemon juice2-3 ounces ginger beer
InstructionsMuddle rosemary, blackberries, and syrup in a cup. Add in lemon juice, ice, and top with ginger beer.

The Syrup

Inspir ed Energies: Success, Love, Money, Invigoration

Add some Aries spice to your life with this fiery cocktail syrup. With ginger, comforting clove, and strengthening saffron, this syrup is packed with fiery Aries energies for success, vitality, and passion. Use this cocktail syrup in recipes to inspire energy to burst through barriers and get productive.

Bonus Tips: You can use the syrup for more than just this cocktail! For one, the full moon energy tends to set the energetic tone until the new moon, so you can reuse the syrup to call up energy of passion and inspiration. But also, you can add this syrup to any cocktail, mocktail (non-alcoholic cocktail), or even coffee, tea or iced tea, and as a glaze for dishes like a simple fruit salad

Aries Spiced Syrup

A spiced, comforting syrup designed to add some Aries passion, invigoration, and motivation to your cocktails for this Aries Full Moon!

Ingredients2-3 medium-large ginger coins/slices7 pieces cloves1-2 threads saffron1/2 cup hot water1/2 cup sugar
Instructions(For better flavor infusion, you can heat this syrup over the stove top! I tend to do things on the fly, so I steeped the ingredients, which also made the syrup less intense for those who may want more for comforting elements and less of the intensity). In a mug, place ginger, clove, and saffron. Pour hot water over ingredients and allow it to steep for five minutes. Then add in sugar and stir. If you can, once cool let the syrup infuse in your refrigerator for a few hours to allow for better flavor integration. But do what you can! Strain before use. Once solid are removed, the syrup can last at least 2-3 weeks. Adjust recipe ratios for less yield.

Magical Additions

As a crystal healing practitioner, I can’t help myself when it comes to crystals and working with lunar energy! Here are some crystals/stones I recommend for further utilizing the energy of the Aquarius Full Moon. To layer on the energetic & magical frequencies, you can meditate with your given crystal beforehand, keep it on you as make and/or sip the drink, as well as attune the crystal to the drink by visualizing both the drink and crystal resonating together with your intention, as you hold the crystal against the outside of the glass. (Don’t put your crystal in any of the cocktail components unless you know for sure it is not toxic). Here are their energies and why I suggest them (as it relates to the full moon).

Aragonite (star cluster) – If you find yourself more emotionally activated at this full moon, a star cluster formation of aragonite can help create energetic stability while still invoking the vitality and strength of the Aries Full Moon. Aragonite promotes expression through the arts and one’s choice of words, so that you can better express your emotions at this time to invite healing and growth. This gorgeous stone also helps one attune to “higher” wisdom, which can be useful for problem solving at this time. So all in all, a great balancing stone to work with to help counter the more fiery emotional energies of the full moon, while still using Aries vitality and productivity.

Blue Lace Agate – Associated with the throat chakra, blue lace agate is a powerful communication and calming stone that can assist those feeling emotionally triggered with the Aries Full Moon. Tuning you into your higherself, this stone will help you not only keep calm and relaxed, but also communicate with mental clarity amidst the communicative chaos and emotions that may arise at this time. (Mercury retrograde is right around the corner!!).

Garnet – If you find yourself particularly emotionally “activated” at this time, and want to use that for introspection, garnet is great choice. Garnet (Sacral, Root Chakra) is lovely grounding stone that assists one in recognizing repressed emotions for healing and growth. It also invokes a grounded and sensual passion, and reminds one their true passions and motivations. Thus, it can be helpful in fueling the fire needed to pursue aspirations!

Malachite – Malachite is a great stone to work with for those us that want to use this harvest moon to complete tasks before the colder months of the year, and to exert the boost of energy in productive and innovative ways. Associated with the Solar Plexus and Heart Chakras, malachite consciously connects us with our inner power, and to express it in constructive and creative ways. It helps ground our ideas by helping us see what steps are necessary to manifest our dreams in the physical reality, thus putting us in place of co-creation with the universe. Because of malachite’s association with power, it helps in overcoming fear of self-expression or healthy use and acknowledgement of ones power. Malachite helps us to recognize boundaries for ourself and others, and develop a healthy relationship to power in that way.

Red Aventurine – If you are looking to enhance the vitality and inspired energies of the Aries Full Moon to break through some “walls” and accomplish tasks, Red Aventurine is a wonderful choice! I love this stone because similar to green aventurine, it invokes new opportunities and helps open doors. However, red aventurine also grounds energy, and inspires creativity and passion to invoke new ideas and perspectives. Red Aventurine will not only invites prosperity, but also give the vitality to pursue those opportunities.

Some other great options are: carnelian (vitality, leadership, boldness), red jasper (strength, energy, stability), bloodstone (courage, endurance, inner strength).

Virgo New Moonjito

Sip in the celestial energies, with this Virgo New Moon Irish mojito, and earl grey-rosemary syrup. Energetically attuned elixirs for grounding, productivity, and clarity.

New Moon in Virgo

Kissing our entrance to fall and the celebration of Mabon, the Virgo new moon on September 17 offers a potent possibilities to restructure and reorganize our lives. A sign of productivity, acuity, and function, Virgo invites us to analyze our lives, and with the moon in this sign, this is a key opportunity for a fresh start with our organization and flow systems! Declutter – physically and emotionally – create daily habits or systems, focus on reorganizing matters of business, finances, habits, and health. Use this new moon as an opportunity to set in place key systems for longterm balance and success in your life.

To heighten and take advantage of these energies, I’ve created some virgo lunar libations & liquids below to enhance your magical workings at this time. Bergamot and rosemary are two clarity and prosperity-associated herbs drawing upon both Virgo and lunar energy. See how I pair these, plus other vibration layers, down below.

Virgo New Moonjito

Energies: Grounding, Clarity, Mental Abilities, Cleansing, Prosperity

A twist on the classic mojito, this Irish lemon mojito is the perfect drink to take advantage of Virgo’s practicality and mental acuity. With the rye whiskey base bringing in the harvest elements of Virgo season and grounding the cocktail, an earl grey-rosemary syrup adding clarity and knowledge, mint enhancing mental acuity and inspiring financial abundance – this concoction is loaded with energies to enhance your new moon working. Whether looking for a fresh start to get organized in life & business, or working to bring in more $$, this concoction is a perfect companion to your Virgo new moon strategy session.

Did you know that you can make most cocktails, non-alcoholic? It can be simple! For a mocktail version of this recipe, just alter the ingredient ratios and remove the alcohol: Mint, 1.75 ounce syrup, 1.5 ounce lemon, 1.75 ounce soda water.

Earl Grey-Rosemary Cocktail Syrup

Early Grey Rosemary Cocktail SyrupAn earthy, grounding Virgo- & Moon-associated cocktail syrup, perfect for all your Virgo lunar libations and treats.

Energetic Alignment: Mental Clarity, Grounding, Purification, Peace

If you don’t know already, one of my favorite ways to create a simple cocktail syrup is through the use of tea! And lucky for us, both bergamot & rosemary are associated with the moon and the Virgo sign, plus potent potion additions for clarity, grounding, & peace. I’ve combined these two (bergamot through earl grey) for a fast and easy syrup, that you can use for cocktail making, or even add to coffee, tea, or drizzle over dessert! Check out this video on instagram, to see how simple syrup making can be!

Alternatively, you can use the Early Grey Ginger Syrup (one of my personal favorite syrups) from my book WitchCraft Cocktails.

Refrigerate and use for up to 3 weeks. Strain before use!

Cocktails & Crystals

I’m a bit biased, but crystals are one of my favorite tools to enhance magical workings and alignment. Here are some crystals and minerals that would be a great addition to your Virgo New Moon workings.

Citrine (Solar Plexus, Sacral, & Root Chakras) is a go-to for a variety of intentions, all the way from abundance and willpower, to cleansing, positivity, and creativity. In general, this stone helps to transmute energy, and for the Virgo New Moon, this crystal could be a great choice to positively change habits, or to bring in abundance and a change of energy.Fluorite – Fluorite is one of my personal favorite stones for knowledge, focusing, and healing. This beauty occurs in a myriad of colors, and helps to clear the mind of debris. In this way, fluorite helps soothes anxiety and worry and allows for focus and productivity. A great choice to staying focused and getting organized under the Virgo New Moon! Green Aventurine – Green Aventurine (Heart Chakra) is wonderful stone to use for prosperity, to bring in new opportunities, and also to clear other people’s energy out of your aura and emotional body. It helps one release attachment to outcomes, inviting in optimism and joy, as well as prosperity, good luck, and vitality. I would use this stone to help invite prosperity and wellbeing under the Virgo New Moon.Selenite – (Crown Chakra) is wonderful for connecting you to the higher vibrational, angelic realms and to your “higher self.” Known for its cleansing and protective properties, selenite will keep any space, person, or item energetically clean. Selenite will help you declutter energetically, so you can declutter physically, too!

To layer on the energetic & magical frequencies, you can meditate with your given crystal beforehand, keep it on you as make and/or sip the drink, as well as attune the crystal to the drink by visualizing both the drink and crystal resonating together with your intention. (Don’t put your crystal in any of the cocktail components unless you know for sure it is not toxic).

Ingredient Alignment

Here are some ingredients & some of their magical associations, as it pertains to the Virgo New Moon.

Bergamot (Mercury, Moon, Virgo) – Money, Clarity

Lemon (Moon) – Longevity, Purification & Cleansing, Love, Friendship

Mint (Mercury, Virgo) – Mental Acuity & Clarity, Abundance, Psychic Abilities, Protection, Peace

Rosemary (Sun, Mercury, Moon) – Protection, Mental Abilities & Knowledge, Purification, Healing, Peace & Sleep, Youth, Love & Lust

Rye Whiskey – Harvest, Grounding, Karmic Cycles, Abundance
