A Few Ways I’ve Found to Foster Creativity — #UpbeatAuthors
Creativity is a fragile thing. It can be hampered by all kinds of things, like the pressure to produce and criticism. Tack on the need to earn money using your creativity, and the creative spirit can (and often will) take a hike–a long one. I’ve been a full-time writer for more than 20 years now, and I’ve seen my own creativity sputter and die several times over the years. Life events, like the death of a loved one or a move to a new location can put out the creative spark as surely as seein...

Tell Me a Story. Any Story — #MFRWauthor
It’s week 30 of the MFRWauthor 52 Week Blog Challenge, and this week’s topic is books: Paperback, ebook, or audio?
Honestly, for me, it doesn’t matter. I love stories. I don’t care what medium a storyteller chooses to use. I love books, I love movies, I love TV, I love hearing someone tell a story aloud, I love reading one silently to myself.

Different mediums serve different purposes in my world, and I enjoy them all.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year — #MFRWauthor
It’s Friday, which means it’s time for another installment of the MFRWauthor 52-Week Blog Challenge. This week’s prompt is: My Favorite Holiday.
Frankly, I wish I’d faced this challenge a few years ago, back when I still lived near family and felt a bit more enthusiastic about holidays in general. Now that I live 900 miles from my closest family members and 2,500 miles or so from the rest, I’m hard-pressed to talk about holidays as something to anticipate eagerly.

The Joy in Simple Things — #UpbeatAuthors
For the past few years, I’ve been actively trying to avoid negativity in my life and to focus on the positive. It’s not always easy, but I have found that it becomes easier with practice. When my friend, Trish Milburn, decided to create a group of authors committed to focusing on positive things, I jumped at the chance to join up.

Ask a Question, But Never Answer It — #MFRWauthor
It’s week 28 of the MFRWauthor 52-Week Blog Challenge, and this week’s prompt is it’s a Life Lessons in My Books. I love this topic, I just wish I had more time to work on it. With a house still full of grandkids and half a dozen projects in various stages, I’m having a tough time carving blogging time out of the schedule.
Years ago, long before I published a single word, I read a book called If You Want to Write by Brenda Ueland. That book was a life-changer for me for many reasons. One of...

A Sight for Sore Eyes — #MFRWauthor
It’s Friday. and that means another installment of the MFRWauthor 52-week blog challenge. It’s week 27, which means we’ll be running downhill from this point on. This week’s prompt is The Most Beautiful Place I’ve Been. I suspect we’ll see a lot of variety in this week’s bloghop since beauty is such a subjective thing. Plus, there are so many truly beautiful places on earth, I’m not sure how to narrow it down.

Just Ask Me Why I Breathe — #MFRWauthor
Welcome to week 26 of the MFRWauthor 52-Week Blogging challenge. We’re halfway through the year already, can you believe it? Today’s prompt is Why I Write and I’m serious when I say you might as well just ask me why I breathe. The answers would be the same. But let me see if I can make this slightly more interesting than that.

Unfortunately, I have limited time to come up with a riveting blog post since I currently have a house full of family. My two granddaughters are he...

A Favorite Book is Like an Old Friend – #MFRWauthor
Happy Friday! It’s Week ___ of the MFRWauthor 52-Week Blog Challenge, and this week’s prompt is Favorite Books to Read. My question for you is: how much time do you have? Because asking authors or any other voracious reader about their favorite books is…well, it could make for some long (but extremely interesting) posts.
I’m not sure which direction this prompt is intended. Are we supposed to write about favorite types of books, or favorite books specifically? I could sum up the type of book...

I’ll Have a Little of This and a Side of That — #MFRWauthor
Good Friday morning! It’s time for another installment of the Marketing For Romance Writers (MFRW) 52-Week Blog Challenge. This is week #24, and our prompt is; If I Could Eat One Last Meal…
I’ve been thinking about this one on and off all week, mostly because I don’t have just one favorite meal, so how do you choose when there are several things you’d like to eat if it was your last chance to taste something delicious?
[image error]Let’s begin with the appetizer. I’m thinking maybe the Bang Bang Shrimp fr...
