He Said, She Said — Favorite Book Quotes #MFRWauthor

Welcome to Week 40 of the Marketing for Romance Writers 52-Week Blog Challenge. This week’s prompt is Favorite Book Quotes — and this may just be the week that finally does me in. It’s not that I don’t read, it’s that I don’t remember any quotable quotes from the books I’ve read over the years.

[image error]There’s the classic line from Gone With the Wind, in which Rhett tells Scarlett, “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn,” and that’s certainly a favorite because it’s such a great moment in both liter...

The Words I Live By — #MFRWauthor

Happy Friday! It’s time for another installment of the Marketing for Romance Authors 52-Week Blog Challenge. This week’s prompt is The Words I Live By.

This is actually a topic I’ve thought about before. Several years ago, while working on my writing workshop about characterization, I realized that in order to really understand a character, I needed to know what their life motto was. While not everyone in the world has a motto they’ve thought about, the strongest and most interesting charact...

5 Things You Might Not Know About Autumn

Happy fall, y’all! It’s officially autumn now, which means nobody can roll their eyes at all the fall leaf pictures popping up on the internet these days. If you’re a pumpkin spice fan, you’re no doubt in heaven, and those of you in colder climates can look forward to cool, crisp temperatures and changing leaves.

To celebrate the season (my favorite of the four), I decided to share five things you might not know about Autumn. Here they are in no particular order:

Seasons Come and Seasons Go — #MFRWauthor

Welcome! It’s Friday, and around here that means another installment of the Marketing for Romance Authors 52-week blog challenge. It’s week 38, so we’re closing in on the finish line. Back in January, I wasn’t sure I’d make it this far, but its actually been quite a lot of fun. This week’s prompt is The Best Parts of Each Season.

And once again, I’m left scratching my head. I currently live in Florida, where they’re aren’t four seasons–at least not as I know them. Not having distinct seasons...

5 Keys To My Heart — #MFRWauthor

It’s Friday! Time for another installment of the Marketing for Romance Writers 52-Week Blog Challenge. It’s week 37, and this week’s prompt is Five Ways to Win My Heart.

I have to say one thing about the prompts MFRW has given us: they almost always make me think. I can think of a couple of ways to win my heart off the top of my head, but iive?

I guess I’ll get started with the easy one:

K[image error]ey #1: “Special Drinks.” I’ve blogged about them before here soI won’t spent a lot of time today talking...

5 Things You Might Not Know About the Giant Panda

Does this topic feel random to you? Something that came out of nowhere and without warning. Well…it is. Kind of. I’m not researching the topic for a book…yet. I haven’t written a book involving a Giant Panda…yet. But that’s not to say I won’t someday.

[image error]The thing is, I adore the Giant Panda. If a person could have a Giant Panda as a pet–you know, if they weren’t endangered, and if ever having a wild animal in your house was a good idea, and if owning one wouldn’t require me to plant a giant fie...

You Should Never Be Too Busy To…#upbeatuthors

Happy Monday! It’s the start of a brand-new week, and that means a new topic for #UpbeatAuthors. I’ve been staring at this week’s topic for a while now, wondering what one thing I would pick to fill in the blank here.

[image error]Over the years, I’ve met many writers who start volunteering in their local writer’s organizations and somehow end up too busy to write. This isn’t a phenomenon exclusive to writers, either. I’ve noticed it in other occupations People want to be involved. Being involved is a goo...

Time Keeps on Slipping — #MFRWauthor

Happy Friday, everybody! It’s week 36 of the Marketing for Romance Writers 52–Week Blog Challenge and today’s topic is Managing My Writing Time.

This week’s post is going to have to be short and sweet. The power cord on my laptop has died, and I have very little battery life left. I ordered a new cord. It arrived, but didn’t fit the computer despite the seller’s claims that it would, so I’ve hd to order another one and am waiting with bated breath for it to arrive. Meanwhile, I’m running on v...
