It’s My Favorite – #MFRWauthor Week 1

Happy New Year and welcome to a whole new blogging challenge. We had so much fun participating in the Marketing for Romance Writers 52-Week Blogging Challenge in 2017, a bunch of us wanted to keep going. So here we are at the start of a brand-new year. This week’s prompt: Favorite Thing I’ve Written — and Why.

One of the things I enjoyed about last year’s blogging challenge was that s many of the prompts were challenging. I had to dig a bit to find the answers, and that’s true of this week’s...

My Resolutions for 2018 — #MFRWauthor

Happy Friday, everyone1 It’s the last Friday of 2017, and the last week of the Marketing for Romance Writers 52-Week Blog Challenge. Oh yeah! I made it all the way to the end. 52 posts without missing one. I’m doing an internal happy dance as I write this.

This week’s prompt is (can you guess?) My New Year’s Resolutions. and this one’s gonna be a piece of cake.

[image error]I don’t do resolutions. Oh, I used to, but I got really tired of making grand plans and failing after only a few weeks. I’ve tried al...

If You Want My Advice… — #MFRWauthor

Hello and Happy Friday! It’s ween 51 of the Marketing for Romance Writers 52-week blog challenge, and this week’s prompt is Advice to New Authors.

Well, okay, but remember, you asked for it.

[image error]The advice I’d give new authors today is vastly different from the advice I would have given twenty years ago. Back then, I thought all a writer needed was a plan, a little skill, some talent, and some determination, It didn’t take me long to realize that talent is the least important part of the equation...

My Biggest Accomplishments So Far — #MFRWauthor

Welcome to week #50 of the Marketing for Romance Writers 52-week blog challenge. Tis week’s prompt is My Biggest Accomplishments, a theme that makes me say, “Ugh.” As I mentioned in week 46. I’m not really comfortable tooting my ow horn. In fact, I really dislike doing it. But I’m determined to see this thing to the end without missing a week, so let’s give it a go.

[image error]The first thing that comes to mind is being a mom and a grand-mom. Giving birth to two amazing children and seeing them grow up...

Behind the Scenes of “The Cakes of Monte Cristo”

This morning I realized that it’s been a little while since I took readers behind the scenes of one of my books, so I clicked right over to the random number generator and up popped #21, which just happened to be assigned to The Cakes of Monte Cristo. This random selection made me happy because I really enjoyed writing this book, even though it was the last book my publisher wanted in the series.

So without further ado, here are 5 things you might now know about The Cakes of Monte Cristo.

My Green-Onion Cheese Ball Recipe for the Holidays — #MFRWauthor

Hello, and welcome to week 49 of the Marketing for Romance Writers 52-week blog challenge. Let’s all take a moment to express our absolute amazement that I have still not missed a week. Honestly, it’s like a little miracle. With just three weeks left to go, I’m determined to make it to the end successfully. If I do that, you are all free to pass out in shock.

This week’s prompt is A favorite recipe, which makes me really happy. I just finished writing a blog post that took me a long, long tim...

16 Books Just 99 Cents Each

Happy Holidays, everyone! In case you haven’t heard, I’ve recently lowered the price on 16 full-length novels from my backlist on Kindle to just 99⊄each. I’m going to leave them at that price at least until the end of the year, (and, to be perfectly honest–no sense playing coy–if the response is good, I may leave them that low after the New Year, too.)

I’ve been trying to create a link to my author page on Amazon where you can ind all 16 books that I’ve priced at just 99⊄ for three days, bu...

Please Don’t Ask if I’m Ready for Christmas

[image error]We all know–or should know–that this is a difficult time of year for some people. We hear–or should hear–the advice to be sensitive to what others are going through. Unfortunately,  even some people who dish out the advice sometimes inadvertently say something insensitive. It happens. Were only human, after all. We occasionally say the wrong thing at the wrong time to the wrong person, and we can only hope that person will realize that we would never intentionally cause then pain.

My personal...

5 Items on my Life List — #MFRWauthor

Happy Friday! It’s week #48 of the Marketing for Romance Writers’ 52-Week Blog Challenge, and so far I’ve managed to post every week. If you’re not amazed by that, you probably ought to be. I haven’t always been the most reliable when it comes to posting regularly, mostly because I can’t think of things to talk about that I think followers would be remotely interested in reading about. I’ve enjoyed thinking and writing about the topics all year, and I’ve enjoyed reading all the other authors;...

A Song That Makes Me Happy — #upbeatauthors

It’s Monday, the start of another full work-week after the holiday here in the US. Even though I work from home, I do try to take holidays off these days–something I didn’t do in the early stages of my career. Back then, I worked every day, rain, shine, or holiday. I reached a critical stage of burnout after a few years, though, and that made me rethink what I was doing to myself.

[image error]So hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s back to work I go…

But first, I decided to take a look at this week’s topic for Upbeat Auth...
