If you haven’t read See These Bones or Red Right Hand yet, please be aware that these sample chapters will absolutely include spoilers from those books. Also, be aware that expletives abound. Read at your own risk!

One Tin Soldier: Prologue

One Tin Soldier, the last book in my The Murder of Crows trilogy, launches November 9th, 2021! I’m counting down to its release by sharing sample chapters, advance reviews, content warnings, and whatever else seems fun. Today, we’ll start at the beginning. And because this book is just a bit different than the first two, we’re beginning with a Prologue instead of Chapter 1.

If you haven’t read See These Bones or Red Right Hand yet, please be aware that these sample chapters will absolutely incl...

So… uhm… what happened to August?

I don’t want to alarm any of you, but apparently it’s September already. I know; I’m as shocked as you are! Does anyone know what happened to August?

Prophecy is a tough gig but the perks do involve possible stoning, so… that’s something?

As my friends/followers/hopefully loyal minions on social media know, I did not complete One Tin Soldier in August. It was a stunning refutation of the prophecies of the Ancient Ones and it shook our very basic understanding of the laws of reality. Of course...

A very late mid-year review

According to the almighty Google, the mid-point of the year is July 2nd. Which… was apparently four weeks ago? Huh. Weird. I guess that makes this a very late mid-year review.

As I like to do every year, I’m checking in to see what progress I’ve made on my writing goals. I also want to talk about last month’s release of Ghost of a Chance. And, of course, it’s time for a status update on the twenty-five ton elephant in the room: this year’s swiftly impending release of One TIn Soldier.

Ghost of a Chance is now available!

I am thrilled to announce that Ghost of a Chance, the next book in my comedic urban fantasy series, The Many Travails of John Smith, is now available! Release days are kind of like birthdays, except you sometimes get to have more than one of them a year… and there’s almost never any cake.

In place of pastries, there is a brief moment to exhale, to beam at the sales dashboard that now shows another book, fresh and new and hopefully as-of-yet untarnished by 1-star reviews, and to post feverishly ...

The Subtitles Behind Ghost of a Chance

People seemed to enjoy getting an early peek at the chapter subtitles for Blood is Thicker Than Lots of Stuff, so I thought it would be fun to do the same with Ghost of a Chance. Never fear; there are very few spoilers and most will only make sense after you’ve read the relevant chapter. If they ever make sense at all… three books in, it’s possible I’m going subtitle crazy!

Ghost of a Chance: Chapter 5

It’s that time again! I’ll be counting down to the June 29th release of Ghost of a Chance, the next book in The Many Travails of John Smith, by sharing sample chapters, advance reviews, content warnings, and whatever else seems fun. In previous chapters, John was hired by the White Ladies of San Diego to find their missing leader, Graciela, but had barely even begun to make progress on that case before his car was stolen and he was summoned to the vampire House by Queen Lucia Borghesi, owner of ...
