Wolves Till the World Goes Down at PodCastle
Wolves Till the World Goes Down is a short story of mine that I wrote quite some time ago, and it's now in podcast form at PodCastle. Dave Thompson (lj-user="krylyr") performed a fantastic reading, no mean feat considering the number of characters on-page at any given moment, none of whom are technically human.

Final Comic-Con schedule and other things
These are the things I am going to discuss in this journal entry:
1. My finalized Comic-Con schedule
2. A trip to La Jolla to hang out with the Clarion 2010 writers workshop
3. A movie I saw
4. A cup
This is the first thing:
SUNDAY: 11:00-12:00 Entertaining One's Inner Child— Ever since Harry Potter burst onto the scene, children's books have been taking over the bestseller lists. Creators discuss the thrills and challenges of creating memorable characters for the younger set. Panelists include...

Oh, by the way, the book title
And thank you for your title suggestions. My book still does not have a title, but I'll keep you posted, and if one of your suggestions gets picked (and you were the first to suggest it), I'll send you a thing.

Catching up
It's not like I've disappeared from the world or anything. It's just that the kind of journaling I do is easier to do on Twitter. But I'm sorry for neglecting this space. Because if you only follow me here, you're missing out on my tweets from the dentist's chair.
I also had some pizza today.
And I bought a cool squid mug from Etsy yesterday.
I posted an emoticon or two to illustrate my mood.
Some people said things to me and I replied back to them.
I talked about not wearing pants.
But I still lo...

Title my book?
I need a new title for my new middle-grade novel. The working title was LAST, but I can't use it, and that's just the way it is.
The book involves a boy who may be the last boy on Earth, a robot, and a cloned pygmy mammoth, all making their way across the country in search of more humans and facing dangers and stuff.
I've pretty much got all the funny, punny titles I need, but any serious ones will go into the hat.
Okay, there is no hat.
I will have to get a hat.

Brain dump
Things on my mind:
1. Got back yesterday from the Starry Heaven novel workshop in Flagstaff, which was a really, really good week of critiquing, spontaneous craft discussion, eating great food, accomplishing great hanging-out, camaraderie, and plain ol' fun. I missed the hike during which everyone but me formed a lifelong, impermeable bond, but the Karate Kid outing was pretty good, so I'm fine with that. It's wonderful to be home, but I miss my fellow workshoppers already.
2. Speaking of Kara...

Yes, that Berkeley Breathed. This Bloom County fan is flubbergusted.

The greatest band in the galaxy
Just got home from seeing the one-night-only theater showing of Rush: Beyond the Lighted Stage, a documentary about the greatest band in the galaxy.
This is not a movie review, as reviewers and critics have mostly been irrelevant and dumb-headed in regards to Rush.
But I will say this: THE DOCUMENTARY WAS FLIPPING AWESOME.
The theater was a totally Rush crowd (mostly male, raucous, and middle-aged), with a sprinkling of women and second- or third-generation Rush fans here and there. But the mos...

Castle Perilous and Taco Shop
There's a little interview with me on Ingrid Law's blog. Ingrid Law is the Newbery Honor-awarded writer of Savvy and of the forthcoming Scumble. I already knew that Ingrid's an awesome writer, but I didn't know she was so friendly and funny. I'm telling you right now, if I ever get to display a Newbery badge on the cover of one of my books, I'm planning to unfriendly, unfunny, and downright obnoxious about it. Frankly, I think Ingrid is missing out on opportunities to be antisocial.

"In a world where I feel so small, I can't stop thinking big."
First thing, I want to tell you that there are two new Rush singles available for purchase today from places like iTunes and Amazon and wherever. "Caravan" is hawesome.
Second thing, Wiscon this year was lovely in a low-key, almost-relaxing kind of way.
Third thing, I haven't written anything in two weeks, and now I have a bunch of work to do. Hard work. Daunting work. Maybe-if-I-hide-it-will-all-go-away work.
Fourth thing, the disgusting, reptilian Los Angeles Lakers, led by iguana-in-chief ...
