Invisible Wounds

Physical or Mental

pain is a pain…

physical wounds are visible and curable

mental wounds are invisible and unendurable

just because you carry it well it doesn’t make you strong

you can be weak and there is nothing wrong

a broken heart is tired and drained

not able to accept further pain

you get labeled as a victim player

and you are no more in someone’s silent prayer

you are messed up in your mind

you can’t think straight

you just want to preserve what’s yours

before the world can have it’s take

you feel week and vulnerable

uncomfortable and irrecoverable

you need time to heal

but it becomes a never-ending ordeal

you wake up to make it even with your life every day

but this emptiness leaves you rattling

few people around leave you battling

for the pain and suffering, we go through

I have learned one thing

you need to have something of your own

a place of your own

identity of your own

people hardly stay forever

but you need to stick by your soul

love, Priyanka

Day 12- Meditation, Mental Health & Madness

Hello readers,

How are you all holding up? In India, it is the 11th day of official nation-wide complete lockdown.  We have no idea if we will see normal life for coming few months, no idea if this lockdown will help release the fear in people’s mind, with absolutely no idea if after ten days we would be able to buy full groceries, go out for work and do basic stuff like before.

This is the global scenario and is affecting everyone in some or the other manner.

“It seems as if life has stopped and stuck in the middle of nowhere, lost the track and struggling hard to get back to the track”.

The Madness

Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the only ray of hope is the privilege of plenty of time we have got in our hands for ourselves and our loved ones. But in tough times like this where we have been dealing with a dearth of food supply at the house, have to manage with limited resource and losing out so many things we use to do just ten days back, somehow doesn’t make many of us happy with what we have got in the name of time.

For the majority of the crowd, it is becoming overwhelming and few of them are somehow losing their mind, as the reported cases of physical violence, abuse and anxiety have been leading the charts.

This is the first time in human history wherein a husband-wife and other family members have been tied together forcefully and just imagine the arrangements where things are pretty messed up in the families and when everyone is at home, the chaos and mental distress is unimaginable.

Three cheers for the ones, who are taking advantage of this time and making memories, learning new things, entertaining themselves and supporting each other and also staying sane.

Mental Health

How does it feel being quarantined at our own house? I feel we all have been taking a lot of extra steps to manage our daily needs, basic supplies, housework, beating stress and taking care of our family members. It is ok even if you don’t feel like doing anything, the dullness and feeling of a little fear and distasteful is very much normal.

Even I haven’t been perfect. I’ve skipped my workouts somedays, ate less or sometimes more, slept a lot and even just gave blank stare the plants in my garden.

You need to know that you don’t have to be perfect to make progress on your mental health. It’s easy to feel like the small things we do every day don’t make a difference but I just want to remind you that you ARE doing a lot.

When you really think about all the tiny little things you do every day it adds up to a lot. We just have to keep going. In the end, these small acts are what is going to get us through this.

Take a nap
Take a shower.
Listen to a good song.
Read a book.
Watch movies.
Cook something good

Meditation

Even though I have skipped working out a few days, I have continued to breathe, it is helping me. I feel lighter every time I do it. I have discovered that for many people who struggle to sit in one place and meditate for like 10 minutes and find it really hard to concentrate, they can actually find their moment of peace while cooking while watering the plants or even sketching/painting.

The aim is to “to be in the moment”, to live in the present an be at peace with yourself. So, continue to breathe.

With this note, I will end here and will see you tomorrow. Holds the hands of your loved loves, take care of each other and let the storm pass, we will be back to our normal life and would be grateful for our life.

Please stay home and stay safe.

Much love and gratitude

Day 11 – Task For The Day

Minimalism and decluttering could be your path to salvation. Decluttering can have a life-changing impact on you and while we indulge in mental cleansing through Yoga and Meditation, please declutter your house as well.

We can start decluttering from small spaces, like our wardrobe, our kitchen storage, our office desks or if you are determined enough then maybe the entire house.

I hope you all are taking care of your mental health in these tough times, please take care.

Stay at home and stay safe.

Much love and gratitude

Meditation and Today’s Task- Day 10

Hi,

How long are you willing to hold the bad energy within you? We meet a few people in our daily life who suck our good energy and pass their negative energies to us.

We call them energy vampires, who leave us rattling and battling inside. Let us get rid of them, it won’t happen at one go but eventually, it will once you decide to let go of it, with each breath you exhale.

Exhale all the negativity and soak into the positivity of life.

Please stay home stay safe.

Much love and gratitude

Meet Author Piya Gajbe Talking about Mental Health

Welcome to the thirteenth episode of Humanity ki chain, Mental Health Awareness Series.

The importance of being aware and being able to understand the need for mental health awareness is all we need to stress upon. It is important that we talk about Mental Illness and how we as a society can join together to fight against the stigmas attached to it.

The thirteenth guest joining us today is Piya Gajbe. Author of the novel “When Fate Kicks”. Piya is from Nagpur. She is an advocate by qualification and a writer by choice. She is a proud mom of an eight-year-old son and she loves to write on social issues and life lessons. She is a voracious reader, loves music and traveling.

This Mental health awareness series is a small attempt from my side to spread some mental health awareness and enable people to talk. The more we talk about it, the more we will be able to break the stigmas attached to it.

Mental Health is as important as Physical Health and it is not possible to drive a massive change alone, so let’s join together and spread some positivity.

Much love and gratitude

How To Maintain Focus During Meditation? Day 8

Hi everyone,

I hope you all are doing well and staying safe during this time.

Along with Yoga and Meditation, I tried a few Pranayam cycles today, it felt refreshing. I am glad that we are following social distancing and taking this thing seriously but what causes worry in me is the aftermath of this lockdown, what next? What is going to happen at Day 22?

Well, I do not want to create a sense of fear but this is certainly food for thought, so think about it. Meanwhile, I am sharing here few ways of focusing during meditation.

https://youtu.be/MLknJEv6YyY

Three ways to maintain focus during meditation

Focus On Your Breath

It is all within you “Just breathe,”  and “Observe your breath,” by paying attention to the flow of your breath. By this, you’re noticing the cycle, the motion, of the air as it moves in and out of your body and it helps to maintain the rhythm.

Develop a single point of focus

This practice is one of the core aspects of Vipassana meditation, during which you focus all of your attention on the nostril. The idea is that by narrowing your focus to the point at which your breathe enters and leaves the body, you can enter into a deeper state of concentration.

If you have never used this technique before, it may feel strange the first few times you practice it. I encourage you to try out this technique several times before you decide whether or not you think it is effective and appropriate for you.

While centering on the nostril is a common practice, it isn’t the only place you can focus. Internally, many people like to focus on the rise and fall of their diaphragm.

Any of your seven chakra points can be great places to focus.

Chant a Mantra

One of the very old and very common practice is to repeat a mantra during your meditation.

Mantras are short phrases you repeat silently or aloud. The idea is that as you repeat the mantra, your mind is able to relax more deeply, and the rhythm of the repetition lulls you into a deeper state. It is the consistency of the mantra which helps in building a flow.

Besides this, a guided meditation app or meditating under the supervision of a trained practitioner also helps. Hope this helps you to get started
