Set up for the scene: Michaela agrees to let Alan and Hyatt give her a tour of the loch so she can search for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. As Hyatt and Michaela conversed, Alan realizes Michaela is not feeling well. He's slows the boat to a stop, asking Hyatt to take over. Alan uses his 'magic hands' to ease her headache and offers her a bottle of water, insisting she drink. Alan gives Michaela the 'well' water and Hyatt voices his concern, which Alan smugly ignores. They've arrived in front of Castle Urquhart where most of the sightings of the Loch Ness Monster have been. Alan goes on to describe the ancient castle in loving detail.

Now for the snippet: (Alan's POV) (Michaela is speaking first.)

**********************************************************************************************************

“At one time, it must have been breathtaking.”

“Aye, indeed it was.”

Her gaze riveted to his and her perfect ruddy brows arched. “You say it as though you know firsthand.”

Alan shrugged and said, “If ye live in these parts long enough, the past and the present begin to merge together as one.”

Her gaze absorbed the wonderment around her, making her green eyes shimmer with warmth, and without a doubt he knew she understood perfectly what he meant.

Her lips curved. “If you don’t mind me asking, do you both believe Nessie is real?

**********************************************************************************************************

What a question to ask Alan and Hyatt. lol  So, do you believe the Loch Ness Monster is real? Find out next week what the laddies have to say on the matter.

**********************************************************************************************************

It was about time Hyatt knew what it felt like. Night after night, he lay awake worried about what trouble his brother would manage to wreck upon the village. Alan didn’t meet his brother’s gaze but glanced at Michaela. The human race was so fragile. Healthy and free one moment until death began to rear its ugly head, threatening to take it all away. It wasn’t much, but he would grant Michaela a reprieve from her troubles for at least today.

“Where are we going?” Michaela asked as she sipped from the water bottle and looked over the

edge of the boat.

“This is where most sightin's have taken place.”

**********************************************************************************************************

Nice of Alan to show Michaela where the Loch Ness Monster likes to swim. lol

Snippet Sunday: Magic of the Loch Chap. 2 #9 @WildRosePress #SPeekSunday #8sunday #snippetsunday

Hello Sunday Readers!

What's new with you?

Yesterday, my girlfriend and I drove to San Juan Capistrano to visit my uncle who participates in the 'The 2nd Saturday Street Fair". He creates beautiful bird houses and charming crosses-- necklaces and such. It's amazing what he can create from a piece of wood.

What have you been reading? I've still reading  the Lux series by Jennifer Armentrout on my Kindle, and for my before bed enjoyment, I'm reading A Wolf in Wolf's Clothing by Deborah MacGillivray. This is the third book in the 'Sisters of Colford Hall series". I love her writing. There's humor, gorgeous Irish men, spunky Scottish women, and quirky characters you can't help but fall in love with.

Goodreads Giveaway: Win a Print copy of SOUL TAKER. Offer ends Aug. 17th. Don't forget to enter! See the side bar for the direct link. :)

Magic of the Loch is on sale for only 99 cents at Amazon! It's a big savings from its usual ticket price of $5.99. So if you haven't picked up a copy, here's your chance to own it for less than a buck!

Blurb:

Michaela Grant travels to Scotland for a holiday, knowing this vacation is her last. A medical condition threatens her life and any chance of a future—until she meets Alan MacLachlin, a man forced to exist between two worlds.

Alan is the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Once every fifty years he returns to human form in search of his soul mate, the one woman who can break his curse. He believes he has found forever with Michaela, but to claim it he must figure out how to save her life.

Michaela and Alan vow to take what time has to offer, but another threat looms. A sinister shape shifter with a vendetta against Alan is making Loch Ness his personal hunting ground. Now he’s threatening Michaela. Alan must discover who the shifter is and stop him before it’s too late.

***Note: Snippet has been modified to fit the 8 sentence limit.

Alan uses his 'magic hands' to ease her headache and offers her a bottle of water, insisting she drink. He then asks her to forgive him his rude behavior of earlier. Michaela couldn't resist Alan's charms and of course all is forgiven. With the tension gone, all that is left is a new kind of tension...

Now for the snippet: (Alan's POV)

******************************************************************************************************************************************

He leaned forward and her lips parted in invitation as if she too wanted his lips pressed against hers. Surely one taste wouldn’t hurt.

Behind him, Hyatt cleared his throat, slapping him back to reality and making him realize the foolish mistake he was about to make. He dropped his hands to his side and tore his gaze away from Michaela. He glanced at Hyatt and frowned, not caring for his brother’s smirk. Without a backward glance to Michaela, he stood and made his way over to Hyatt saying, “I’ll take over now.”

“Ye never fail to amaze me, Alan. Ye used the well water,” Hyatt whispered the last part.

******************************************************************************************************************************************

Alan gave Michaela well water? Hmm...  What does that mean? LinkedIn For Authors @KMNbooks @LinkedIn @WildRosePress @rebeccajvickery

bigstock-Social-networking-concept-27053648 Just a few reasons why Linkedin is a great tool for authors...

Google Points: LinkedIn gives you “Google points” for the sites you link to from LinkedIn. It also ranks very high on Google.

Feature Your Book: In the “Publications” section, you can list details about books--synopsis of each book and a link your book’s page on Amazon,  another online retailer, or even your website.

Import Your Contacts: LinkedIn makes it easy to connect with the people you know by allowing you to import your contacts into the system without worrying about spam. You'll see your contacts and those who already have an account on LinkedIn. You can send those people a LinkedIn connection request.

Groups on LinkedIn: You can find all kinds of business-related topics here, and can join as many groups as you like. Get involved. Top contributors in a group receive extra exposure. You can also subscribe to daily or weekly email digests from the groups.

Start a Group: If you have the time, (lol--I know, who has time?)-- you can start your own group on LinkedIn, which is free and it will provide excellent visibility.

Get Recommendations:  You can send out recommendations for your books, for you as an author, blogger posts, etc... Recommendations are displayed on your profile and add credibility to what you do. Reach out to your contacts and ask for recommendations. Remember in return, you should give some recommendations, too.

bigstock-A-grunge-film--party-frame--15533627

Use Endorsements: This allows people to easily click a button and “endorse” your skills and expertise. You can add the skills you want to be known for when editing your profile. Link

edIn will automatically ask your connections to endorse you. In return, you can endorse those in your network. LinkedIn makes it easy to do. Edorsements will give you credibility, too.

Share Content: The news feed on LinkedIn isn’t as active as the news feed on Facebook, but people still check it out. LinkedIn users can subscribe to daily emails for summarized details. I share on LinkedIn at least several times each week if not more. I include my new blog posts, event announcements, etc.

Want publicity? There are lots of periodical editors and TV producers you can network with. Who knows maybe one will like your book and make it into a movie. :)

It’s Back! Lost in the Mist of Time by Karen Michelle Nutt @KMNbooks @amazon @freebookpromos

Elegant Floral Frame BackgroundIt's back! I have my rights back that is. I've re-released Lost in the Mist of Time. What do you think of the new cover?

Aislinn Hennessy pens tales of courage, loyalty, and true love, but her heroes of old are pure fantasy--figments of her imagination. She long ago gave up thinking a knight in shining armor would sweep her off her feet, but then she never expected to run him off the road either.

Sir Dougray Fitzpatrick has buried one wife and vows to never love again--but destiny has other plans for this 16th century Irish Lord. During a battle, a mist separates Dougray from his men and casts him into the future. Dougray must return to Dunhaven and to his century, but Aislinn follows him into the mist, leaving him no choice, but to take her home with him.

Conspiracies, feuds and unexpected violence are commonplace threats, but along the way, Aislinn and Dougray discover a surprise neither one expects: a chance for love even when they're Lost in the Mist of Time.

bigstock-Ice-Skate-Christmas-Decoration-35034746_smallIce-skating has become a holiday tradition, too. We can date ice-skating back to 3000 B.C.  Leg bones from large animals were used as the blades and skates were tied on with leather straps. The Dutch word for skate is ‘schenkel’ which means leg bone. The oldest pair of ice skates was found at the bottom of lake in Switzerland.

Yule Log and Viking Ritual @rebeccajvickery #FreeReads @KMNbooks

Viking Ship at Sea

Heat Resistent Snowman Sunbathing On Beach

CHRISTMAS IN JULY...

The Yule Log was once an ancient sun worship ritual. The Vikings burned the log in honor of their god Thor. The Druids selected a large tree bearing fruit or an oak tree. They would bless the log and light the piece with a scrap from the last year’s Yule Log to symbolize the log was ‘ever-burning’. The Druids believed this ritual would promote bountiful crops, provide light and warmth for the dead and cleanse the fire by burning up all the evil of the past year.

There Really Is A Santa Claus @rebeccajvickery #FreeReads

Heat Resistent Snowman Sunbathing On Beach

Christmas in July  Continues...
Did you know billions of people celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday, but even those who do not celebrate know about the traditions associated with the celebration? Some of the traditions date back centuries.

Santa Claus owes his existence from the Dutch settlers when they settled in the New World with their stories of St. Nicholas (Sinter Klass). There are many engravings of the eighteenth century saint wearing a hat and robe. The engravings depict the saint stuffing stockings, hanging on the fireplace, full of gifts, and fruits. The original St. Nicholas may have been Nicholas of Myra, an ancient bishop honored for his holiness. A classical scholar and American Episcopalian minister, Clement Clark Moore wrote the famous “Twas the Night Before Christmas” on December 23, 1822. He wrote the piece for his three daughters. Moore’s image of the jolly old man with a long white beard has been the Santa Clause we recognize today.
