Snippet Sunday: Magic of the Loch Chap. 2 #6 @WildRosePress #SPeekSunday #8sunday #snippetsunday
Happy Sunday!
News of the week:
Magic of the Loch is on sale for only 99 cents at The Wild Rose Press and at Amazon! It's a big savings from its usual ticket price of $5.99. So if you haven't picked up a copy, here's your chance to own it for less than a buck!
Mistletoe, Stakes and Yuletide Cheer hit the Kindle stands yesterday! "What’s a hunter to do when she’s fallen for the vampire she’s been sent to stake?"
What do you think of the cover?
How did you spend your weekend? I'm going over my final edits for Lost in the Mist of Time. I received my rights back to this time travel tale, and will release it again soon in both E-book and print formats. It's been fun re-reading Aislinn and Dougray's tale.
Now for Snippet Sunday. This is another snippet from Magic of the Loch. Today's snippet is a couple of paragraphs later from last week. If you missed last weeks snippet, here's the link: Chapter 2 #5 Alan's POV.

Michaela Grant travels to Scotland for a holiday, knowing this vacation is her last. A medical condition threatens her life and any chance of a future—until she meets Alan MacLachlin, a man forced to exist between two worlds.
Alan is the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Once every fifty years he returns to human form in search of his soul mate, the one woman who can break his curse. He believes he has found forever with Michaela, but to claim it he must figure out how to save her life.
Michaela and Alan vow to take what time has to offer, but another threat looms. A sinister shape shifter with a vendetta against Alan is making Loch Ness his personal hunting ground. Now he’s threatening Michaela. Alan must discover who the shifter is and stop him before it’s too late.

Set up for the scene: Michaela agrees to let Alan and Hyatt give her a tour of the loch so she can search for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. As Hyatt and Michaela conversed, Alan realizes Michaela is not feeling well. He's slows the boat to a stop, asking Hyatt to take over. He retrieves a water bottle from the cooler before sitting next to Michaela.
Now for the snippet: (Alan's POV)
“I thought ye could use a drink. Bein’ out on the loch with the sun and wind, ye can become quite parched.” Her eyes narrowed with suspicion before turning her attention to read the label on the bottle. “It’s only water,” he assured her and waited for her to take the first swallow before he spoke again. “Now, close yer eyes, Michaela.”
“Excuse me?” she said, suspicion lacing her words.
He refused to give up, keeping his voice calm and smooth so not to frighten her. “I can help ye with the discomfort.”
**************************************************************************************************
What's up with the water? Hmm?
Find out next week with more of Alan's POV.

"A tale of curses, folklore and revenge, Magic of the Loch is wonderful story for paranormal romance readers. Ms. Nutt has created a sweet romance spun from a legend and delivered a suspenseful story as well."

Excerpt:
His touch felt so good, warm and gentle for such a large man. She found herself leaning into his palm. Kiss me. The thought whispered in her mind, but he somehow knew what she craved.
He took her mug from her hand and placed it on the table next to his as he leaned forward, his lips hovering over hers.
“Just a taste. Aye?” His seductive whisper stroked over her mouth with the effect of a soft kiss. His hand slipped to the nape of her neck, drawing her closer as he deepened the caress.
Heat spread through her, warming her from the inside out. He tasted of the sea, whiskey and sweet temptation. The more she indulged, the more she wanted. The thick beat of awareness ran through her blood, making her heart beat faster. Her hands cupped his face. His five o’clock shadow barely prickled her palm.
The kiss ended if only to take a breath, but he didn’t move away. His lips still hovered near hers as if to reclaim them again.
“I knew you’d be a good kisser.” Her voice a hoarse whisper, laced her words like an invitation for more.
His lips slid into a seductive curve. “Did ye now?”
She nodded her head, still a little breathless.
“This was a mistake, ye know.”
“It was?” She tried to move away, but he held her still.
“Shush. I only meant it was a mistake on my part to indulge with a promise of only one taste. I want so much more.” His mouth covered hers again, taking her under his spell.

Now for the snippet: (Alan's POV)
The slight tilt of her head when enthralled with a story, a curve of her lips when amused, but her last expression had him puzzled. She blinked her eyes as if a piece of lint irritated them. Something had changed and not for the good. Her pallor turned ashen and her fingertips sought her temple with a quick massage. Aah, she did well, forcing the headache not to take hold; if she hadn’t rubbed the side of her head, he would have missed her discomfort.
He slowed the boat not caring they were in the middle of the loch.

Snippet Sunday: Magic of the Loch, Chapter 2 #4 #SPeekSunday #8sunday #snippetsunday
Happy Sunday!
Did you all have a happy 4th? Did you do anything special?
Since my husband had a video shoot, and my children were with friends, my girlfriend and I went to the movies to see The Lone Ranger. It wasn't what I expected, but I was certainly entertained.
What am I'm reading this week?
I just started listening to Book 1 of the Bonded By Blood Vampire Chronicles by Ariel Burnz on my kindle (text-to-speech). Only two chapters in, but I'm intrigued to know more.
For my night reading (Paperback), I'm still enjoying Riding the Thunder by Deborah MacGillivray. This is the second book in the Sisters of Colford Hall series. The first book is The Invasion of Falgannon Isle. I'm enjoying reading about the hunky dark-haired Mershan Brothers. Do you want to meet Deborah and know a little more about her books? Stop by KMN Books on July 11th.

Set up for the scene: Michaela agrees to let Alan and Hyatt give her a tour of the loch so she can search for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Last week Alan is wondering why Michaela has traveled so far away from home when she is not well. Sensing she's being watched, Michaela turns and meets his gaze.
Now for the snippet: (Alan's POV)
Her strong chin lifted in defiance, as if she meant to tell him to back off. Illness had weakened her body, but not her spirit. Aye, the fool lassie knew her time was limited. Scotland would be the final chapter in her book of life and it had him curious. Of all places in the world, why did she settle for Drumnadrochit?
“Where do ye live in the States, lovely lassie.” Hyatt sat next to her on the bench, draping his arm around her shoulders. Alan clutched the wheel tighter, not liking his brother’s bold advances.
**************************************************************************************************
Wonder why Alan doesn't like his brother putting the moves on Michaela.

Snippet Sunday: Magic of the Loch, Chapter 2 #3 #SPeekSunday #8sunday #snippetsunday
Happy Sunday!!
Like many writers, I also have what I call the 'day job', but I took a much needed holiday. We didn't travel anywhere, we just stayed home. Sometimes that is the best vacation. I created a few book covers for Rebecca J. Vickery Publishing and Western Trail Blazer. I blogged and played on Facebook. Fun!
I also worked on Smoke and Mirrors, which is the second book in my Urban Fantasy series. Soul Taker is book one (I still need to come up with a series name.) Any ideas? I don't like choosing titles. lol The series is an urban fantasy where a vampire (Grim Sith), werewolf (Mac Tire), and a Necromancer team up and investigate preternatural crimes. They may have to raise the dead to do it, but they'll get the job done.
What am I'm reading?
I'm still reading The Eagle, but this is for the car (text-to-speech) and I didn't work this week, so I'm still working on this one. For my few chapters before bedtime, I'm reading Riding the Thunder by Deborah MacGillivray. This is the second book in the Sisters of Colford Hall series. The first book is The Invasion of Falgannon Isle. I'm enjoying reading about the hunky dark-haired Mershan Brothers.
What are you reading? Do you have a book to recommend?

Set up for the scene: Michaela agrees to let Alan and Hyatt give her a tour of the loch so she can search for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. Last week we find out Alan's abrupt behavior was due to his intense and sudden attraction to Michaela. He also senses Michaela is not well, making him curious...
Now for the snippet: (Alan's POV)
Would she be thrilled if she actually caught sight of the beast? Probably not. Humans were fascinated with the unknown, but faced with the reality they ran screaming in fear. Why did Michaela Grant travel so far from home? Most humans clung to familiarity when their lives neared its end. They didn’t set out on new adventures. Maybe she didn’t realize how close she danced with eternal sleep.
As if she sensed his thoughts, her eyes shifted and her gaze latched onto him.
**************************************************************************************************
So do you think Michaela knows of her impending doom?
