She blamed the Internet for jading her opinion. End of the Road Only 99¢ #endoftheroad #8sunday #snippetsunday

"I thought Phoebe, your mother," he corrected as if she didn't know her own mother's first name, but she didn't say anything and let him talk. "I thought she was having me followed."
"Any reason why she would?" Like you're a lying cheating jerk. She inwardly blanched at where her thoughts had led her. She blamed the Internet for jading her opinion of him. Maybe she should hear him out. Let him tell his side of the story.
"Your mother thought I was cheating on her," he offered without her having to say it out loud.
"And were you?"

What if they were wrong? End of the Road Only 99¢ #endoftheroad #8sunday #snippetsunday
**********************************************************************************************************************

"You were drunk and–" She stopped there because he was shaking his head adamantly and it was difficult to ignore.
"I had a few drinks. It was a Christmas party for Christ sakes, but I would know if I was going to take a swim in the ocean."
She hesitated on saying more as she reached for her coffee mug and drank. What if they were all wrong, the authorities included and he had actually been murdered? She lowered the mug from her lips as she remembered something Fritz and Mario, heck all the band members had told her at one time or another. She might as well confront her father with it now. "Before you died, you claimed someone was following you. Why did you think that?"

“I think you’re a little confused.” End of the Road Only 99¢ #endoftheroad #8sunday #snippetsunday

"I have a theory," he voiced as if he was glad she finally asked.
"And?" she encouraged him to say more.
"I need to know who murdered me."
Her eyebrows arched in surprise. "Your death was deemed an unfortunate accident."
"F--- that." He threw up his hands in frustration. "I was murdered." His voice clearly indicated he felt his claim was the truth and he wouldn't debate it a moment longer, but still she had to try.

Meet the Characters and other hauntingly good fun! #endoftheroad @KMNbooks

"I don't understand why you stuck around. Wasn't there... I don't know... a light or something you could go into?"
"If there is one, I haven't seen it. The music room has been the only place where I could roam until now."
She reached for his hand on impulse, but her fingers slid through his onto the table and the cold electric tingle caused her to jerk her hand away in response. "Sorry."
"No need to be," he told her as he sat down on the edge of the table as if he were as solid as any living person, but she knew if she tried to touch him again, she wouldn't feel flesh, but energy of some sort. He no longer had a physical body and even though it appeared as if he were seated on the edge of the table, he wasn't. He floated slightly above it.
"Why are you still here, Dad?"

About the book:
Lars Gunner, the frontman for Silent Plaids, died 23 years ago and his death was ruled an unfortunate accident. Despite the fact he can't recall what happened to him in his last moments of life, he is convinced he was murdered. He has been trapped in limbo until his daughter, Cecilia, unearths his journal and is able to see him. She seeks help from Kaleb, a psychic, but as they resurrect the past, the secrets and lies surrounding Lars' rock and roll life just may be the death of them too.

Can’t keep my eyes off of you… End of the Road #8sunday #snippetsunday
Check out last week's snippet from Chapter Three snippet #1 here.
Setup for this snippet with a recap from last week: In the light of day, Cecilia is rethinking her hasty decision to run away from the ghost of her father.
**********************************************************************************************************************

With her mother's needs taken care of, she headed downstairs to the kitchen. She spotted her father's journal sitting on the kitchen table. Harmless enough, but she couldn't help but think the book somehow aided her father to manifest so she could see him. Hadn't he said as much to her? She shouldn't have taken it, but in her haste to leave last night, she'd forgotten she still had it in her hands. She would have to return it and soon before her mother fixed the lock to her father's music room.
She reached for the coffee filters on the counter and proceeded to make her morning brew. She then retrieved the oats and nuts cereal and a bowl from the cupboard. Next she took out the almond milk from the refrigerator. With breakfast in hand, she sat down at the table where her laptop waited for her, but the journal kept drawing her attention.
