TRUCKERS GIVE TRUDEAU THE FINGER

Police began clearing Ambassador Bridge, the busiest border crossing between the U.S. and Canada, on Saturday morning, more than 12 hours after a court order to end the blockade took effect
Police in black uniforms with yellow vests descended on the scene around 8:30 a.m., warning protesters to ‘act lawfully’ after Freedom Convoy truckers in Canada ignored two deadlines overnight.
About 20 protesters had huddled together Saturday morning while others remained in pickup trucks and cars as police asked drivers to leave.
Windsor Police tweeted that they and ‘its policing partners have commenced enforcement at and near the Ambassador Bridge. We urge all demonstrators to act lawfully & peacefully. Commuters are still being asked to avoid the areas affected by the demonstrations at this time.’
A city bus and school bus arrived at the scene Saturday morning as police moved in formation toward them. One of the protesters used a megaphone to alert others that police were coming for the demonstrators. Tow trucks and ambulances were stationed near the protest.
But within the hour, as police moved in, some trucks and vehicles began pulling away from Ambassador Bridge. Protesters have thinned from about 200 blocking the bridge on Friday night.
The ‘Freedom Convoy’ protests, which began in Ottawa by Canadian truckers opposing a vaccinate-or-quarantine mandate for cross-border drivers, entered its 16th day on Saturday.
Protests had spread to three border points, including the Ambassador Bridge, North America’s busiest land border crossing where dozens of vehicles crowded the area since Monday, choking the supply chain for Detroit’s carmakers.
Despite the injunction and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s 7pm-turned-midnight deadline set by an Ottawa state of emergency declaration, the protesters haven’t left.
Trudeau had said that ‘everything is on the table’ to end the protest and Ottawa police were on the scene with threats to forcibly remove the truckers who have been blocking the busy bridge for days. Officers had also handed out flyers warning those refusing to retreat that they risked CA $100,000 fines ($78,000 USD) and the permanent loss of their commercial driving license.
But the big showdown never came on Friday night, as police declined to move in on the hundreds of protesters milling around on the comparatively mild 38 degrees Fahrenheit evening.
A judge on Friday had ordered an end to the Ambassador Bridge blockade, but some 100 protesters continued to occupy the bridge on Saturday morning with trucks and pick-up vans, preventing the flow of traffic in either direction.
The Ontario government, which declared a state of emergency in the province on Friday, has threatened fines and jail for protesters if they do not leave.
Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens said Friday the government wants to see the protesters leave voluntarily but steps will be taken to have them removed if they refuse to do so.
‘Obviously, I’m pleased that the Court granted the injunction as a means to help bring about an end to the illegal occupation of the Ambassador Bridge,’ Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens said Friday. ‘At the same time, I’m disappointed that it had to come to this.’

US to evacuate Ukraine embassy amid Russian invasion fears
The US is preparing to evacuate its embassy in Kyiv amid fears of an imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine.
An announcement for all staff at the embassy to leave the country is expected early Saturday from the State Department, US officials told The Associated Press.
The families of US staffers at the embassy had been ordered to leave last month, but non-essential employees were left to decide on their own if they wanted to go or stay. Some diplomats will be relocated to the far western portion of Ukraine, near the border with NATO ally Poland, so the US retains a diplomatic presence in the country, according to the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin are also scheduled to speak by phone Saturday.
US officials have warned warn that Russia may launch an invasion of Ukraine within days.
Biden’s national security adviser Jake Sullivan on Friday told Americans still in Ukraine t …

McConnell Shouldn’t Promote Media Lies About RNC Censure Of Cheney

It’s no surprise that the corporate media are defending Liz Cheney in her campaign to help Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi hurt Republicans, but why is Mitch McConnell, the leader of Senate Republicans, joining them in their efforts?
Last week, the Republican National Committee formally censured Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger for serving as tools of Pelosi as she weaponizes the January 6 events for Democrats’ political gain.
Last year, Pelosi blew up the commission to investigate the security breaches and events of January 6 by removing the Republican Party’s picks from the committee. Since then, no Republican-appointed members serve on the committee and it has been used to seize private communications of political opponents of the committee. Even prior to kicking off Republican-appointed members, Pelosi chose rabid anti-Trump extremist Cheney to serve her on the committee.
Cheney had al …

Report: Jill Biden Hampered Afghanistan Evacuation With Special Requests

The disaster that took place in Afghanistan in 2021 no longer dominates the headlines, but the after-effects are still being felt. After the evacuation, which resulted in the murder of 13 American servicemembers and countless Afghans, the Biden administration is still trying to clean up the mess it created. With women and children set to starve in incredible numbers because of the haphazard pull-out, the president is now moving to issue an executive order that will use frozen funds from the Afghan central bank for humanitarian relief.

WSJ: Kinder, gentler Taliban seizing Westerners — including one American

What a shock, said no one at all. The Wall Street Journal has learned that the new Taliban government has detained at least nine Westerners in recent weeks, including at least one American. Two of them are journalists, but others worked for the previous American-supported government in “the security sector”:Taliban authorities are holding at least nine foreigners in custody in Kabul—including one American and several British citizens—according to relatives and other people familiar with their situation, inflaming tensions with the West at a time when Afghanistan desperately needs international aid.
Among those arrested are two journalists: a British reporter and an Irish photographer who were in Kabul on assignment for the United Nations’ refugee agency, UNHCR. They were detained this week in Kabul, along with an Afghan journalist and an Afghan driver with whom they were working.
Those two arrests got plenty of media attention this morning, and for good and understandable reasons. The Washington Post reporte …

FDA Authorizes Emergency Use for Monoclonal Antibody Drug Amid $720 Million Deal

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Friday announced it handed down an emergency use authorization for Eli Lilly and Company’s bebtelovimab, a monoclonal antibody treatment for COVID-19.
The drug is intended for the treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19, the illness caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus in patients aged 12 and older who tested positive for COVID-19 and are “at high risk for progression to severe” disease, including hospitalization or death.
It also applies to individuals for which “alternative COVID-19 treatment options approved or authorized by the FDA are not accessible or clinically appropriate,” according to an FDA news release.
“Bebtelovimab is not authorized for patients who are hospitalized due to COVID-19 or require oxygen therapy due to COVID-19,” said the federal drug regulator. “Treatment with bebtelovimab has not been studied in patients hospitalized due to COVID-19. Monoclonal antibodies, such as bebtelovimab, may be associated with worse clinical outcomes when administered to hospitalized …

James O’Keefe: A Proposal for a New Type of Journalism

A muckraker is someone who makes public what those in power want to keep hidden. And in an environment where many news outlets have become mouthpieces of political parties and corporate powers, a new type of muckraker journalism is needed. James O’Keefe, founder of Project Veritas, has presented in his new book, “Muckraker,” a proposal for a new type of citizen and undercover journalism that can empower anyone to expose wrongdoing and corruption. To learn more about this, and how journalism can be restored, we sat down for an interview.

Navy Must Work With Allies to Match China’s Shipbuilding Speed
JUST IN: Navy Must Look to Allies to Match China’s Shipbuilding Speed

To match the breakneck speed of China’s shipbuilding programs, the Navy will need to work more closely with allied nations to leverage some of their ship designs and reduce risk, said one service official Feb. 10.
If “you look at China and how they are manufacturing ships and the rate of manufacturing ships, we’re going to have a hard time … to keep up at a pace,” said Tom Rivers, executive director for amphibious, auxiliary and sealift programs at Naval Sea System Command’s program executive office for ships.
Military officials have for years been sounding the alarm about China’s naval buildup, with the People’s Liberation Army Navy building a formidable fleet.
To combat China’s growth, the Navy must do a better job of leveraging the ship designs of allied nations and bringing them to the United States to be domestically produced, Rivers said during the National Defense Industrial Association’s annual Expeditionary Warfare Conference, which was held virtually.
“We need to look at some o …

Meet the Mach 6 SR-72: America’s Next Great Spy Plane?

Everything we know about the SR-72: Imagine a future crisis somewhere in Europe or Asia and the United States getting an intelligence-gathering aircraft overhead of the site in an hour and a half. It could become a reality in very short order as the US’ premier aeronautics engineers are making it happen.
The Lockheed Martin SR-72 — also known as the “Son of Blackbird”, is the United States’ hypersonic unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) concept that is expected to have the capability to perform high-speed intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), as well as strike operations.
The aircraft is being developed under Lockheed Martin’s Skunk Works or Advanced Development Programs. About 85 percent of the work done there is classified by the government.
SR-72 Son of Blackbird Carries the Name of Its Famous Father:
This next-generation aircraft is expected to be the highly anticipated successor to Lockheed Martin’s SR-71 Blackbird, which retired from service in United States Air Force in 1998. The legendary Blackbird could fly on the edge of space with a ceiling of 85,000 feet. The SR-71 also owns the speed record for aircraft with an incredible speed of Mach 3.3 or 2,193.7 mph, which was over 500 mph faster than any Russian/Soviet aircraft and was set in 1976.
The Blackbird, by flying so high and so fast was able to outrun missiles, even if the enemy …
