Hypocrisy: Top Dems Send Kids to Private Schools

School choice has become a hot-button issue after the COVID-19 lockdowns shined a light on the scope of the government’s authority and gave parents a window into public school curricula. Many private schools stayed open while public school systems across the country closed in-person learning for entire semesters, even years, and remote learning lifted the veil on what public school kids are actually learning – and not learning.Private schools across the country reported seeing a significant uptick in enrollment over the past two years, while public school enrollment declined on a national scale. Between fall 2019 and fall 2020, total public school enrollment dropped 3% nationwide, erasing a decade of steady growth, according to the U.S. Department of Education. Meanwhile, total enrollment in independent private schools saw a net growth of 1.7% between 2020 and 2022, NPR reported in December.
President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have fought against school choice while sending their own kids to private school.

Dems Confront Leadership Over TX House Seat Loss

Latino Democrats confronted their campaign chair Wednesday after Republican Texas Rep.-elect Mayra Flores flipped a South Texas seat red in a special election Tuesday, according to Politico.Democratic Texas Rep. Sylvia Garcia and Democratic Texas Rep. Veronica Escobar were among the Congressional members who demanded a meeting with Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chair and Democratic New York Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, according to Politico. They reportedly wanted to discuss the Latino exit from the Democratic Party.“I don’t know that it’s an intervention, but it’s gonna be a hard talk. Montgomery County Police Chief Marcus Jones provided more details on CNN about the man who is accused of attempting to carry out an assassination attempt on Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.Nicholas Roske, who flew from California to Washington, D.C., was upset at the potential overturning of Roe v. The streets of downtown Portland, Oregon, resemble an open-air drug market. Heroin, meth and fentanyl use is rampant and often visible on city streets. Portland police officers drive by homeless addicts buying and using. The signs of drug addiction are actually increasing throughout the state, according to law enforcement sources. Oregon ranks second-highest among U.S. states for substance abuse with nearly one in five adults addicted.  In November 2020, voters overwhelmingly passed Measure 110. The Drug Addiction Treatment and Recovery Act secured 58% of the votes and decriminalized possession of small amounts of hard drugs such as heroin, meth, cocaine and fentanyl. FEDS SEIZE 478,000 COUNTERFEIT FENTANYL-LACED PILLS, CHARGE 26 WITH DRUG TRAFFICKING AND OTHER CRIMESThe new law made possession of those substances no more than a Class E violation, the equivalent of a traffic ticket punishable by a maximum $100 fine. GOP Donors Twist Arms on “Dreamer” Legislation

In the wake of the recent “bipartisan” gun deal being announced, many rank-and-file Republicans are feeling like more often than not, their Republican representatives cave to Democrats on a host of issues they hold dear.
Now, a group of GOP donors are beginning to also smell squishiness, and are pressing Republicans to reach a “deal “with Democrats on illegal immigration, specifically, granting permanent legal immigration status to so-called “Dreamers.”

A group of roughly 14 Republican donors who billed themselves as “life long Republicans,” will reportedly send a letter to Republican leaders in which they stated that coming to an agreement with Democrats on the status of Dreamers “makes economic sense.”
The letter was written by a group called The American Business Immigration Coalition.
The letter, obtained by Politico, reads in part:

“Improving border security and providing a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers is not only morally right; it is also absolutely crucial to addressing labor shortages, reducing food prices and creating jobs for all American families.”

Biden Order to Advance LGBT Initiatives

President
Joe Biden
will sign a sweeping executive order this afternoon that his
administration
says will champion the rights of
LGBT
people, thereby “accelerating the march towards full equality” through a series of actions affecting several federal agencies.

Biden will urge
Congress
to pass the Equality Act, but his executive order also aims to curtail the practice of so-called conversion therapy, prevent youth suicide, and allow the homeless to seek shelters consistent with their gender identity. Biden also took credit for creating an “X” gender option on U.S. passports and reversing the ban on transgender service members, among other actions.

“President Biden always stands up to bullies,” a senior administration official said on a background call with reporters Wednesday morning. “These are important new actions that will improve the health, safety, and wellbeing of countless families across the country. They will send a powerful signal from the president to LGBTQI+ kids across the country who are feeling scared.”

The House passed a bill Tuesday to increase security for Supreme Court justices’ immediate families, with 27 Democrats voting against, less than a week after a man was arrested for allegedly plotting to kill Justice Brett Kavanaugh.The bill that’s now headed to President Biden’s desk for final approval provides for 24-hour protection for Supreme Court justices’ families, similar to what is already provided for some members of the executive and legislative branches.The House voted 396–27, approving a measure that had already been passed by unanimous consent in the Senate in May just days after a leaked draft Supreme Court opinion suggested it intends to overturn Roe v. Wade.
