Photograph: Jakub Porzycki/NurPhoto/REX/ShutterstockTikTok has said that Oracle will store all the data from its US users, in a bid to allay fears about its safety in the hands of a platform owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. The move comes as a report from BuzzFeed news, citing leaked audio from TikTok in-house meetings, said ByteDance employees in China have repeatedly accessed private information about US TikTok users. The popular video snippet sharing service has fended off concerns about the ability of engineers in China to access information about US users that isn’t public. It is common for some engineers at internet firms to be granted access to data, and TikTok told AFP it is trying to minimize that kind of system privilege.Twitter fined $150m for handing users’ contact details to advertisersRead more“Similar to industry peers, we will continue to drive our goal of limiting the number of employees who have access to user data and the scenarios where data access is enabled,” said Roland Cloutier, the TikTok chief information security officer, in a blog post highlighted by the company.“Our goal is to minimize data access across regions so that, for example, employees in the (Asia Pacific) region, including China, would have very minimal access to user data from the EU and US.”TikTok has been adamant that it has never given US user data to Chinese officials and that it would refuse if asked to do so.“We’ve brought in world class internal and external security experts to help us strengthen our data security efforts,” a TikTok spokesperson told AFP. TikTok will continue to use its own datacenters in Virginia and Singapore to backup information as it works to “fully pivot” to relying on Oracle in the United States, it said in a post.“We know we are among the most scrutinized platforms from a security standpoint, and we aim to remove any doubt about the security of US user data,” said Albert Calamug, who handles US security public policy at TikTok.Joe Biden last year revoked executive orders from his predecessor Donald Trump seeking to ban Chinese-owned apps TikTok and WeChat from US markets on national security concerns.Trump had given his blessing to a plan that would have given TikTok to US tech giant Oracle with investments from retail powerhouse Walmart, but that deal failed to win approval in Beijing.Biden’s new executive order nixed the unimplemented ban and called for “an evidence-based analysis to address the risks” from internet applications controlled by foreign entities.WeChat, part of Chinese tech giant Tencent, is a “super app” which includes social networking, messaging, e‑commerce and more.TikTok revealed late last year that it had a billion users worldwide.“Today, 100% of US user traffic is being routed to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure,” Calamug said.“In addition, we’re working closely with Oracle to develop data management protocols that Oracle will audit and manage to give users even more peace of mind.”TopicsTikTokPrivacyChinaOraclenewsReuse this content …

When Soros-Backed DAs Take Over, Crime Doubles

Following the successful recall of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, author Matt Palumbo joined Fox News’ Dan Bongino on Sunday to discuss far-left billionaire George Soros supporting soft-on-crime prosecutors.Palumbo, who is the author of The Man Behind the Curtain: Inside the Secret Network of George Soros, explained that Soros, who has always taken a strong interest in American politics, has seen the greatest success through funding progressive candidates in local races.“He’s been interested in our presidential elections where he spends hundreds of billions of dollars. But his real success has been in these local races where, you know, $100 million in a presidential election might not move the needle that much but spending two or three hundred grand in a local DA race, where not much money is being spent, will have an impact,” Palumbo told Bongino.“It also gives him much more direct control over people. When the DA is in charge of an area, they have choices over sentencing decisions, what kind of crimes are getting enforced, all sorts of things that pertain to law and order,” Palumbo explained. “You don’t need to go through any legislative process. You just pick up…and they pretty much do his bidding for him.“Quoting a report from Daily Mail journalist Harriet Alexander, Bongino stated that “George Soros backed groups have spent $40 million to elect 75 prog …

Teachers Union-Backed GOP Reps. Fall in Primaries

Republican state lawmakers in several states who opposed school choice initiatives with teachers union support are consistently losing their primary elections.
In Iowa, Kentucky, and Texas, a slew of Republican state lawmakers who bucked their party’s long-standing support of school choice and in some cases received endorsements and donations from teachers unions all lost their respective primaries in recent weeks.
GOP LAWMAKERS INTRODUCE $10 BILLION SCHOOL CHOICE BILL AHEAD OF MIDTERM ELECTIONS
The results have raised questions about whether opposition to school choice and support from teachers unions is becoming a kiss of death for the careers of Republican state lawmakers.
“School choice is emerging as a litmus-test issue for Republican primary voters,” Corey DeAngelis, the director of research at the school choice advocacy group American Federation for Children, told the Washington Examiner. “At this point, any Republican opposing school choice and parental rights in education is essentially begging to end their political careers.”
In Texas, several Republican candidates endorsed by the Texas affiliate of the American Federation of Teachers, including Justin Berry and Barron Casteel, lost their primary races.
Meanwhile, a familiar story unfolded in several other states.
After the Republican-controlled Iowa state legislature killed a bill expanding school choice, Gov. Kim Reynolds endorsed the primary opponents of several of the lawmakers responsible for the bill’s demise.
The result? State Rep. Dustin Hite, who served as the chairman of the Iowa House Education Committee and had received the support of local teachers unions, garnered a measly 42% of votes cast and was soundly defeated by challenger Helena Hayes, who raked in 57%.
Hite was joined in early retirement by state Reps. Dennis Bush, Jon …

Van Jones Tells CNN Anchors the Democrat Party Is Weird and Elitist

Van Jones may be a liberal, but when he’s right, he’s right. On Friday, he was right as he delivered a concise and effective critique of the current state of the Democrat Party. While making one of his regular appearances on CNN, the former Obama administration official explained how Democrats are completely out of touch with the working class, creating a party comprised of tone-deaf elites. But it’s the way he explained things that eventually left the anchors sitting in stunned silence.
Really, the looks on the faces of Brianna Keilar and John Berman are just priceless.

CNN host Van Jones leaves panel in shock after slamming the elitism of the Democrat party. pic.twitter.com/V4zylQ6on2
— The Post Millennial (@TPostMillennial) June 17, 2022

As Jones says, the modern Democrat Party is just “weird.” He brings up the idea of calling Hispanics “Latinx,” noting that normal, middle class people have never met a “Latinx.” Nor have they met anyone who identifies with the acronym “BIPOC,” which I had to google in order to find out what it means. Apparently, “black, indigenous, people of color” didn’t have enough identifiers already and needed more. The left has so fractured the country that it’s impossible to keep up with all the various groups they’ve created.

Further, those pushing such nonsense are, as Jones points out, predominantly over-educated and wealthy. They are in no way connected to the normal struggles of everyday life, and their lack of religious observance has left them with no feeling of purpose. In order to make themselves feel better, they’ve decided to create victim groups to “help.” That’s how you get the stupidity that i …

Putin’s Nightmare: Ukraine Has Become the Russian Military’s Graveyard

Ukraine War Update – On day 114 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russian military is still looking for a breakthrough in the Donbas. The war now is one of attrition, and whichever side can hold out the longest and absorb the most casualties has more chances of prevailing.Russian Mobilization and Casualties in Ukraine
As the Russian military is trying to capture Severodonetsk, Moscow continues to send troops and hardware to the front. According to the Ukrainian military intelligence, Moscow has already committed about 330,000 troops to the invasion of Ukraine. Approximately 150,000 of those troops are grouped in battalion tactical groups (BTG), the main warfighting ground unit of the Russian military.
And that number is without activating a partial or full-scale mobilization. To be sure, a lot of those troops are inexperienced and no more than cannon fodder, but sheer numbers can carry the day sometimes.
These numbers most probably also include forcibly mobilized people from the Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR) and Luhansk People’s Republic (LNR), but the Ukrainians couldn’t confirm that.
Ukrainian officials are still uncertain if the Kremlin intends to declare a full mobilization and deploy additional hundreds of thousands of troops to the frontlines. A full-scale mobilization would contradict the Kremlin’s claim about a “special military operation” with limited scope.
But the casualties are racking up too. Although the rate has slowed down significantly, the Russian fo …

Senate Bill Requires Women to Register for Draft

FIRST DRAFT OF SENATE NDAA: The Senate Armed Services Committee, on a strong, bipartisan 23–3 vote, has sent to the full Senate its version of the 2023 National Defense Authorization Act, the annual bill that sets policy for the Department of Defense.
The bill calls for $857.6 billion in defense spending, a $45 billion plus-up, over the budget requested by the Biden administration, largely to cover the effects of inflation, to address the need to replace munitions sent to Ukraine, and provide additional resources for the unfunded priorities of U.S. combatant commanders.
“The committee held a robust debate and came together to support a bill that will help safeguard the nation against a range of evolving threats while supporting our troops both on and off the battlefield,” said Committee Chairman Sen. Jack Reed, D- R.I., who said he was proud to have nam …

scholarships. The Educational Choice for Children Act was introduced by Rep. Jackie Walorski (R‑IN) in the House of Representatives and by Sen. “Our children’s education is the key to America’s future success,” lead sponsor Walorski said in a statement exclusively provided to the Washington Examiner. “Every child should have the opportunity to live the American Dream — regardless of their ZIP code or socioeconomic background.
