Please accept my sincere apology for missing last Sunday's Wisdom of the Soul class. As you might've imagined, I was sick. What I assumed to be a passing virus developed quickly into a sudden need for surgery, and oddly, Zoom blocked access when our co-hosts tried to log in.
The good news is I'm recovering quickly and looking forward to next Sunday's class on December 3rd.
Tomorrow is my birthday, and it's arriving with a revelation. At 76, I am finally willing to embrace retirement. This next Sunday webinar will be my last.
I will continue to provide an occasional podcast, plus my private counseling by phone/Zoom, and the Wisdom Salon on Saturdays. But next Sunday's Zoom class will be my last — number 88. We'll have created an archive of 132 hours of instruction and meditation worthy of repeated review.
In this last class, I will summarize the study of consciousness, mysticism, and non-duality; please join us live if you can. I appreciate your interest over all these years.

By its very nature, energy vibrates. It rises like a wave on the ocean, then falls, prompting the next wave to rise. Just as the crest of a wave falls into its trough, the vibration of a piano or guitar string immediately decays.
Thousands of years ago, philosophers recognized this yin and yang of duality — not only day-night, hot-cold, and male-female, but also the coming and going of all things known as "impermanence." In this material world, everything changes and nothing lasts — not objects, conditions, thoughts, or feelings. All things, even life itself, fade away.
An enormous amount of suffering can be released, even avoided, once we understand and accept this basic principle of existence. Join us this Sunday, November 19 for our free Wisdom of the Soul Zoom class as we explore the meaning and consequences of impermanence.

Too often, we think of acceptance as surrender. Instead, we choose not to give up. And so we struggle without realizing it is self-imposed, unnecessary, and futile.
What we resist persists. Acceptance is the way forward.
As noble as it may seem, resistance denies reality. Acceptance means to acknowledge the truth of what is. There is no courage or wisdom in rejecting or ignoring reality. Whether we intend to change our condition or leave it as is, we must first accept it.

We are so binary in our thinking that the relationship of karma to free will typically appear to be an either-or proposition. However, is it possible that both are continuously in play? What is their true relationship?
Karma is often misunderstood as a system of punishment and reward, as if there is bad karma and good karma. It is better understood as Christ explained it, "A man reaps what he sows."
In this week's free Wisdom of the Soul Zoom class, we'll look at karma and free will from the core metaphysical view that "Energy follows thought."

There is magic in the number three. Whether in music's major chord, the primary colors, or the inherent strength of the triangle and tripod, three is fundamental.
The three-in-one nature of the Christian Trinity is reflected throughout mythology and mysticism — from the three wise men to the three bears, three little pigs, and three billy goats gruff. Fables offer three guesses and three wishes — three strikes, and you're out!
Dorothy was accompanied through Oz by three fellow travelers representing her mental (scarecrow), emotional (tinman), and physical (lion) nature. The three-act play has a beginning, a middle, and an end, just as many jokes are built around a setup, a repeat, and then the punchline.
Three represents harmony, wisdom, and understanding. It is the heart between mind and body; the soul between the spirit and matter. It is the magnetic field that unifies the duality of polarity — and so much more.

I struggled with the concept of self-love for many years. It just seemed so self-serving and immodest — even arrogant. Eventually, I came to realize my lack of self-love was limiting both the love I was able to give to others as well as the love I could receive from others.
Once we realize the love we've been looking for from others comes through us, we have no choice but to become increasingly lovable, loving, and loved — in that order.

Ever since Dr. Hans Selye began writing about stress in the early 1950s, the primary concern among the public has been its impact on physical health and performance. However, Selye was very aware of the impact of stress on our ability to think clearly while remaining emotionally aware.
Releasing muscular tension with relaxation and slow, deep breathing is an essential component of meditation and contemplation. It quiets the mind and calms our emotions to greatly enhance self-awareness as well as physical performance and overall health.

We all went to school to develop our mental intelligence, but few people have any sense of what it means to be emotionally intelligent. It wasn't until the mid-1990s that the first books about emotional intelligence were published.
All hurtful emotions — from panic to mild apprehension, stress, anxiety, worry, doubt, etc. — are supported by fear. All anger, hatred, jealousy, contempt, disgust, and loneliness include elements of fear.
Several years ago, my book, Fearless Intelligence, was published with an in-depth description of what fear is and the debilitating effects it has on everything from performance, physical health, and creativity to awareness itself.
